I work in the Department of Philosophy at Brown University. Im also an adjunct member of the Department of Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences at Brown. As of this Fall I will be moving to the Sage School of Philosophy at Cornell University. I mostly work on issues in philosophy of language, epistemology, philosophical logic and probability theory, though this list is not exhaustive. You can download some of my papers by clicking here. I have a separate page for papers on vagueness, which includes a more or less abandoned book. Two of the bigger (and better) papers I've been working on recently are True, Truer, Truest, which argues that we need the concept truer than in order to understand many of the phenomena to do with vagueness, and My Favourite Puzzle, which sets out and solves a handful of related puzzles to do with the odd behaviour of moral claims in works of fiction. I have a philosophy weblog where I keep track of my rolling thoughts on things philosophical. It tends to include rather more tendentious arguments than even I usually put into papers. Before coming to America, I studied in the Department of Philosophy at Monash University, with some time spent in the RSSS at the Australian National University. My first job in America was at Syracuse University. You can download some course notes from a seminar on intuitions that I ran at Syracuse by clicking here. You can view an online copy of my CV by clicking here. Other sites that may be of interest, or at least amusement: |
