I’ve been busy. We settle down things and get very last preparations done. I am getting married in less than four weeks and I am all nerves.

Riot (of colour)

Posted 4 days, 22 hours ago

The manifestation turned out to be quite peaceful — throngs has marched through city downtown without any brawls, in a friendly manner. Demonstrators carried colourful flags and banners with word “Pace” written with white paint. They played music, plonked on pans and skillets. And it was not perilous; when soccer fans tried to provoke the police into a fight, the leader of antiglobalists clamored through shouting-tube: This is a friendly manifestiation, go away. Hooligans replied only “Huh?”.

So no riots, no scuffles, no turmoils. It all started in north parts of the city and afterwards the crowd moved towards the “political” and business districts. At 5 p.m. the demostrants scattered and went home. As much as this, nothing more, nothing less. Commentates are threefold: either antiglobalists really wished to just to show their feelings and apprehensions in this particular way, or they were scared of thousands (literally) of policemen following them, or the Poland is so deeply rooted in the mediocrity that even manifestations are somewhat second-rated.

From the funny side: the homeless dogs shelter asked all store freeholders to handle them plywoods and planks that were used to nail up shop-windows.

Official commencement of EES

Posted 6 days, 14 hours ago

After weeks of anxiousness, it has started - EES has commenced. I’ve been pretty busy today and can’t provide you with a comprehensive entry; just a few words to give you a quick glimpse.

Few districts — these located in zone ‘0’ in particular — looks like lifeless. Only police and soldier squads are allowed to be about there. But city in general looks like abandonded and desolated. Here’s a little excerpt from article from gazeta.pl:

Not only safety zones look like desolated — the entire downtown looks like lifeless. During rush hours one was able to travel from as far as Ursynow to the town in less than ten minutes. Streets are desolated with only few vehicles driving on; trams and buses that route on Marszalkowska Street are practically empty.

Main riots are expected to take place tomorrow; watch this space.

One day to go

Posted 1 week ago

Just one day left. Shopkeepers are getting last arrangements finished, the city gradually becomes desolated (subway on today’s morning was so empty). On my way to work I haven’t seen any traffic jams (every day I go two stops by tram in very midmost downtown of Warsaw). Day after tomorrow more than fifteen thousand people are expected to riot through the city. We shall see…

Hereafter I introduce few shots of stores of which show-windows are nailed up to very top (their copyright remains uncertain to me, I received them with a hoax mail — please let me know if you know the author that I could contribute).
