The overnight ratings are in for Firefly. 2.7/5 *sigh*
And the sad part is, the show just keeps getting better.
With that said, ( My thoughts on Jaynestown )

Much to hellsbitch chagrin, I've got a new default icon and it's another one of Bonnie Wright. Am thinking of doing a whole COS inspired layout but I'll probably wait until it's closer to the premiere (less then a month!!!).

The distance between my house and the bus stop is a good 4 or 5 blocks and one large parking lot. I'm halfway through said walk this morning, trying to use the hood of my jacket to stay a little dry, given that it was pouring freezing buckets of rain.
This rather good looking guy was walking in the same direction and offered to share his umbrella with me. I was feeling tired and antisocial so I declined but it was a rather touching gesture anyway. And I arrived at work only slightly soaked to the bone.

I think we all need to congratulate my wonderful housemate, Lauren (swirlsiren). She watched her first episode of Smallville tonight and it took her mere seconds to note the hotness that is Lex and the smack you in the face obviousness that is the CLex. I think we may have a convert. *veg*

Have you ever had one of those days where you're absolutely convinced that everyone hates you? You don't really have a good, valid reason for thinking so and deep down you pretty much know that's not the case but it's how you feel.
Yeah..having one of those days.

Congratulations, you're New York City, the Big Apple. What US city are you? Take the quiz by Girlwithagun.
Lots to say, will probably only get around to posting 10% of it. My computer is still acting way wierd but at least it's not crashing.
I'm off to bed but before I could I'd like to say one thing. I'm not going to get around to answering the Friday Five but I have to say that my favorite children's book is "The Monster At The End of the Book". I love that book like no person has ever loved a book. My dad used to read it to me, complete with funny voices and basically acting out the whole thing (he'd probably do it now if I asked him) and I'd always act surprised at the end. It's a wonderful little book and I think everyone needs to read it at least once.

Subject: | So I Guess I Should Talk About The Concert I Went To Last Night |
Security: | Public |
Went into the city last night to see Matt Bogart and Idina Menzel perform in concert. They're two of my favorite performers in the entire world so it was a dream come true to see them in back to back concerts. They performed as part of something called the "Broadway Spotlight" series which is a series of concerts that basically allow Broadway performers the oppurtunity to stage a short concert involving anything they want to. The theater only seats about 100 people so it was nice an intimate.
Kris and I met up at about 6:15 and headed off to find the theater which was in as near as Manhattan gets to the middle of knowhere, though it was next to where The Daily Show is filmed. Along the way we passed The Broadway Theater, where Baz Luhrman's "La Boheme" is getting ready to start previews soon. They have this really cool video playing outside the theater that has clips from the Australian version of the show and interviews with Baz and Catherine Martin. We watched it about 3 times before moving on.
Got to the theater, the concert started and Matt was great. Very funny, very entertaining and he sang this song he always sings at his concerts that I absolutely love. It starts with the line, "I always forgot about the sky above Manhattan, until it does something like start to snow" or something like that and it makes cry everytime I hear it. It's not on his new CD (which is amazing and I'd love to direct you all to Amazon.com and beg you to order it but they keep pushing back the day their selling it even though it's been released)but lots of other cool stuff is.
In any case, he told lots of funny stories and was generally on stage what he's usually only like one on one. After the concert we waited around about 20 minutes to talk to him and I was about ready to go back inside to wait for Idina to come on when he finally got over to us. We both gave him a big hug and kiss and I told him that I was still waiting for Amazon to send me his CD. He told me he felt my pain as they were supposed to have delivered 1000 to him that day and hadn't.
Rushed back inside and waited for Idina. It was a little wierd being in a room full of Rentheads (Idina was Maureen in the original cast) as I'm not the world's biggest Rent fan and only discovered Idina when she did "The Wild Party". But once Idina came on stage nothing else mattered. She opened up with Cyndi Lauper's "All Through The Night" and then proceeded to talk about her engagement to Taye Diggs (who I had literally run into after Matt's concert) and got all teary while telling us that he left the premiere of his new movie early to come hear her sing. It was very sweet and I can't even be jealous that she gets to spend the rest of her life with Taye Diggs, who I think is one of the most gorgeous men who ever lived.
The rest of the concert was great, she did this 10 minute long comedy piece about what it was like for her to be a Wedding/Bar Mitzvah singer in Long Island in the late 80s-early 90s that had me almost crying with laughter.
She also sang "Life of the Party" from "The Wild Party" and forgot the lyrics halfway through. Taye (who was also in the show) and Andrew Lippa (who wrote the show) shouted out the lyrics from the audience. One of the last songs she did was "Defying Gravity" from the new musical, "Wicked", based on the Gregory Maguire novel. Stephen Schwartz is doing the music and the song she sang was AMAZING. I can NOT wait to see this musical. She then sang "Heart on Her Sleeve" which is the last song on her album and one of my most favorite songs in the entire world. I had hoped she would sing it but didn't really think she would.
She then took her bows and got a Standing Ovation. Taye (who had to leave) ran up on stage and gave her a huge kiss. Someone shouted,"Idina, you're amazing" and Taye turned to the audience and went,"And I get to marry her" and stuck his tongue out.
She then came out for her encore but couldn't figure out what to sing. She kept forgetting the lyrics for the songs people were requesting so she finally made up a song on the spot which was really cute.
All in all it was one of the best evenings I've had in a long while and probably the best I'll have till Saturday when I get to see Linda Eder.

Will have more to say about "Angel" and "Firefly" on the morrow. I am currently in the process of redownloading programs for the second time this week.
I'll leave you all with an "MmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmWesley". I did not think I could be more attracted to that man.

On the bright side, "Firefly" was finally shown in the NYC area today and I managed to catch it. Damn good episode, it's really going to hurt when this show gets cancelled.

I'm starting to find little silver linings in this whole computer ordeal. I have TONS of space on my hard drive now and I don't have to worry that every time I try to download something there's not going to be room for it.
There's also something incredibly refreshing about not having a folder of WiPs, abandoned fics, etc staring me in the face every time I open My Documents. There is stuff in there that breaks my heart to think of as lost forever but a good 80% of it was doing nothing more then making me doubt I had any talent as a writer.
I have also decided to name my computer Freddie, as I love it in spite of how tempermental and irritating it is,kust like dear Mr.Trumper. (angiescully and majrgenrl8 should get that. Everyone else should go buy the first copy of CHESS they can find. :) ).
General reviews for TV this week are as follows:
Buffy : I liked it. A Lot. I'm crushing hard on Season 7 and hoping it won't break my heart. It's managed to make me like Spike and Buffy again (though they have a long way to go before I like them together). It seems to have found the middle ground between the witty, tinged with fluffy Buffy of yore and the more serious, grounded in reality Buffy of last year.
Smallville: Leave it to Smallville to take an episode with a wedding, a Clark suffering through puberty, Krista Allen in tight clothes and produce one of the slashy hours ever on television. Not only was CLex jumping off the screen at me but I'm also starting to see Chlana.
MDs: Still sucks but it had William Fitchner and John Hannah, naked in a shower together so I love it.
The Amazing Race: It's BACK!!Not sure how I feel about the contestants this time around but I love the way this game is played. And Phil is so my Reality TV Show Host Boyfriend.
That's about it from me. If you recieve a LJ comment from me from a post or comment you made a few days ago, pardon my lateness. I'm playing catch up and there's some stuff I REALLY want to comment on.
