Kaz will attending the 2004 MoCCA Arts Festival in New York City June 26 and 27 from 10 Am to 6 PM. The festival will be held in New York's Puck Building (see www.moccany.org for more details on the festival). Kaz will be selling and signing his new Underworld collection MY LITTLE FUNNY as well as his Smoking Cat toy, stickers, patches, and the notorious MoCCA 2004 Who's Who book (which also includes art by Charles Burns, Kim Deitch, Gary Leib and many more). Kaz will also be attending the gala Harvey Awards banquet on Saturday night (where Underworld is up for Best Syndicated Comic Strip for '04). In addition, Kaz will be taking part in a live Carousel presentation during the event (Carousel is a cartoon slide show narrated by the participating cartoonists). All in all a fun weekend.

The fifth (and Kaz thinks the best) collection of Kaz's UNDERWORLD strips are collected in this beautiful addition with 16 PAGES IN FULL COLOR! Published by Fantagraphics.

RAW, BOILED & COOKED: COMICS ON THE VERGE

$24.95, 94 pgs, available at Last Gasp

"The book highlights the show of the same name that took place at San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art. Inspired by Art Spiegelman's groundbreaking comic anthology Raw, with all the artists either former Raw contributors or fans, the art here runs the gamut from surprising to shocking to surreally beautiful. Captured in full-color reproductions (as well as a fair amount of black and white), this book showcases some of the most important comics and comic-themed art being created today. Softbound."

Kaz has just finished writing an episode for the Cartoon Network show: KIDS NEXT DOOR. The episode is titled D.E.A.D.L.I.N.E. and will air in the show's third season. Kaz worked along with head writer, Mo Willems and the show's creator, Tom Warburton. Kaz has been asked to pitch more ideas for the show.

A Kaz comic strip, "Dreams of a Pork Rinds Fiend" drawn in 1982 and published in his first book collection, BUZZBOMB (now out of print) will be included in THE SECOND SMITHSONIAN BOOK OF COMIC BOOK COMICS subtitled "From Zap to Maus to Clowes" (Abrams). It will be published in the Fall of 2004. In conjunction with the book's publishing, there will be a comics exhibit based on the works in the book at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC.
