Welcome to Lileks.com, which is a wreck. Always has been, and probably always will be. Why? Well, blame the internet. This thing began in the spring of 1996 – a three-room shack. I’ve added and added and added until it’s become an endless labyrinth that defies repair. By all means, come on in; I just can’t guarantee you’ll make it out.

The Bleat is where you’ll find the most current content. The Flotsam Project is a fancy name for Stuff I’ve Scanned and Thrown Together; the various sections bleed together in purpose and style, but there are some distinctions. The Institute of Official Cheer is intended to ridicule and humiliate long-dead subject matter that cannot defend itself. Everything else varies in tone and presentation. Recent updates in 04: Matchbooks are updated weekly, as noted, and the “Have a Seat” section has likewise suffered some new additions. The Engraveyard is the new name for an old section, with a new gallery due in mid 04.

In Urban Studies, there’s a new catch-all site called Urban Variety; most of the material appeared elsewhere but inexplicably vanished.

Miscellany boasts the new music page, in which you will discover why I make my living with words.

Enjoy! And thanks for the patronage.
