This is quite odd.... I think I got into college without guidance sending my transcripts or anything. Randolf-Macon sent my mom a letter for financial aid. The first sentence was, and i quote,"Congratulations upon Amy's acceptance for admission to Randolph-Macon's Women's College!"
I, however, havent gotten any letter. Blah, mayhaps they're just expecting me to get in and just want my mum to fill out the forms early. I dunno.

Happy New Year Becky and I went to see Lord of the Rings today. It was really good. At the end, the guy sitting behind us was complaining about the ending, how it was so stupid that it just kinda ended without resolving everything in a nice, neat package. He wouldn't shut up about it...it was really getting rather annoying. I guess he a) had never read the series, and b) doesnt realize that a trilogy is basically one really long story that they divided into three parts, thus the "cliffhanger" ending. Bah, people can be so stupid sometimes, more often than not. This is the first New Year's Eve in three years that I havent had to babysit. Joy. However, I'm not doing anything...I've been online for three hours or so..yeah, noone else is on, I guess they all found something else to do. I, being my antisocial self, prefer to be at home, on my computer, in my pj's. This preference of mine to be alone and avoid social occasions is why I am not going to the prom..I dont care what anyone else says. I'm still not going.
Happy New Year to all. | Sunday, December 30th, 2001 | 11:17 pm |

Who is your true self? (with comments in parenthesis added by me)
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart, rather than your head, needs to solve. You've got great self-confidence and you're full of charm. Most guys who get to know you will be attracted to you (HA). You are far from sweet and proper; your intriguing personality fascinates them. Most guys find it easy to fall for a girl like you(righhtt..). You really care about other people's feelings and are quite serious about the issues that affect your life. You are sincere, and your concern for the well-being of others makes many people want to be your friend. You are a bright, cheerful and bubbly(bubbly?) person. You are thoughtful and considerate, and like to have fun. Everybody feels comfortable around you because of your pleasant nature. When you walk into a room, people's eyes are likely to be drawn to you because of your charm(or because I just did something stupid). Guys see you as being a thinker and a careful person. They will be really attracted to this quality in you, but you need to learn to speak your mind, otherwise people will find you too shy and quiet(Shy? Quiet? ME? Never!). Learn to relax and lighten up; it's okay to have fun sometimes! When you learn to develop your fun-loving side, guys are going to flock to your side. Your boyfriend(boyfriend?? Is there something I dont know?) believes that you are a strong and independent person. Your confidence and cheerfulness make you an attractive person to be around, but sometimes you need to pay more attention to what other people, including your boyfriend(there they go again), are thinking.
Yeah I'm a)bored and b)tired

Preface to the Picture of Dorian Gray The artist is the creator of beautiful things. To reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim. The critic is he who can translate into another manner or a new material his impression of beautiful things. The highest form as the lowest form of criticism is a mode of autobiography. Those who find ugly meanings in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming. This is a fault. Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope. They are the elect to whom beautiful things mean only Beauty. There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all. The nineteenth century dislike of Realism is the rage of Caliban seeing his own face in a glass. The nineteenth century dislike of Romanticism is the rage of the Caliban not seeing his own face in a glass. The moral life of man forms part of the sbject-matter of the artist, but the morality of art consists in the perfect use of an imperfect medium. No artist desires to prove anything. Even things that are true can be proved. No artist has ethical sympathies. An ethical sympathy in an artist is an unpardonable mannerism of style. No artist is ever morbid. The artist can express everything. Thought and language are to the artist instruments of an art. Vice and virtue are to the artist materials for an art. From the point of form, the type of all the arts is the art of the musician. From the point of view of feeling, the actor's craft is the type. All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors. Diversity of opinion about a work of art shows that the work is new, complex, and vital. When critics disagree the artist is in accord with himself. We can forgive a man for making a useless thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely. All art is quite useless. ~Oscar Wilde

He's for sale again... ....and it makes me sad | Thursday, November 22nd, 2001 | 3:01 pm |
Happy Turkey Day! Hm..I've had a fun Thanksgiving so far. I went to my cousins house in Wayland to see Laura, who's home from W&M;, and watch Eric "play" in the Wayland/Weston football game. He really just stood on the sidelines though, and they lost. Ah well... Laura and I were making fun of the cheerleaders. They had a really stupid dance that they did every time the band played a certain song. By the second time they did it, we had learned the entire thing, and were dancing in the stands kinda with them. The sad part is they prolly worked for weeks trying to learn that, and we picked it up in about 2 minutes. It did look really stupid though....Wayland had a couple of bass guitars in their band, which I thought was interesting, along with a girl drummer..Yay. It overpowered the sound of the cheerleaders though, so it twas okay.
