The top-seeded Longhorns hope to celebrate in Omaha.

Omaha is the final destination, but teams must pass two tests to earn a trip to the Heartland. Defending champ and sixth-seeded Rice and a record nine SEC schools were among the 64 teams receiving invitations to the 2004 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Regional play gets started on Friday.

Syracuse won its ninth lacrosse national title Monday, edging Navy 14-13. The Orange, led by senior attacker Mike Powell's goal and five assists, outlasted the scrappy Midshipmen in front of a record crowd of 43,898 in Baltimore.
