Talking Loud and Saying Nothing
I've been away for a few days, and I originally wanted to write about Reagan, but my growing contempt for the echo-chamber nature of the blogosphere makes me want to scream out the loudest way I can - by saying nothing.
Connect the personal to the political and you'll earn my respect. And more importantly, you'll earn my attention.

Back to Normal
Things are slowly getting back to normal around this blog, with my computer starting to work again (Windows XP seems to have just as many hardware driver problems as Mandrake Linux did) and my African colleagues have returned safely.
I did have a nice, long weekend on the German Baltic coast, at a manor on a nature preserve with friends from Berlin, which was excellent. We were there to celebrate his 35th birthday, which he philosophically described this way:
"If you think of your life as a trip to the bakery and back. I've just gotten to the bakery."
