The
President's House
The structure that is now the President's
House was constructed by UGA alumnus and railroad builder
John T. Grant in 1856. Benjamin Harvey Hill, who served in both
the House and Senate in Washington, acquired the house in 1876,
then sold the house to James White, Founder of the First National
Bank of Athens, in July 1883. His daughter, Mrs. W. F. Bradshaw,
inherited the house the same year. It was presented to UGA by
her estate in 1949 as a home for the president. |
