FISH
From ESPN (the Worldwide Leader in Sports):
National League East | ||||
Team | W | L | Per. | GB |
Florida | 21 | 16 | .568 | - |
Philadelphia | 19 | 16 | .543 | 1 |
New York Mets | 18 | 20 | .474 | 3.5 |
Atlanta | 17 | 19 | .472 | 3.5 |
Montreal | 13 | 25 | .342 | 8.5 |
Several things here:
(a) The Marlins. Most didn't expect them to be leading the NL East at this point in the year. I figure that most people had them about 2 spots lower in the division than where they are. They're legit. They have pitching. They have fielding. They have chemistry. And, oh yeah, they're the World Champs. I don't expect them to be in 1st the entire season, especially the way they're been up and down of late. I see a shoot-out coming for the division. I don't know who will win.
(b) The Phillies. Nice comeback after that awful start. 'Nuff said.
(c) The Mets. Bleargh.
(d) The Braves. I know they lost a LOT of hitting. I know that their pitching kinda blows. But they're still the Braves. Expect them to rebound to contend with the Phillies and Fish for the top spot. I've been trying to sound the death knell for the Braves for YEARS now. One thing I've learned is to never count them out. Unfortunately. I hate that team.
(e) San Juan Expos. They still in the league?
Go Fish!
Change of Focus
I'm still alive. Just really haven't felt much like writing anything lately.
That, and the fact that my laptop has been acting wonky and I lost my bookmarks (including the one for this site).
I figure that from now on, unless something is really out there or makes me inordinately angry, I'm going to stop the political posts on this site. There are many other sites (including those listed to the left there) that can do it far more effectively (and with greater knowledge and resources) than I can. And as one of them recently noted, a plethora of "yeah! me too!" blogs really doesn't add anything to the discourse. I urge you to check those out should you be interested in a political view from the left side of the aisle.
For the record: I am an independent. I have voted primarily for Democrats. I have voted for Republicans on the local level, never at the state or federal level. The removal of the current administration from the White House strikes me as the most important goal sensible-minded people can have, and the key to recovering America's morality, economy, stability, and standing in the world.
And that's all I'm going to say about that.
What I'm going to replace my seething with (if anything) is yet to be determined. Is there anything I've written in the past that has been the least bit entertaining or interesting to any of my handful of readers?
