The Parnassus Fund was founded in 1984. Its principal investment objective is long-term growth of capital. The Fund practices a contrarian investment strategy --- which means it buys stocks overlooked by mainstream investors. 

The Parnassus Income Trust

The Parnassus Income Trust was founded in 1992 and has three funds from which an investor can choose: the Equity Income Fund, which invests in dividend-paying stocks; the Fixed-Income Fund, which invests in bonds and other fixed-income securities; and the California Tax-Exempt Fund, which invests in municipal securities that are exempt from federal and California taxes.
