Dragon*Con kicked ASS!
We just got home a couple of hours ago. I really wish I didn't have to go to work/school tomorrow. This was my first year in the Dawn contest and it was more fun than I ever imagined. I'm the OTHER Valerie ("Parker", not "Potter"). You can imagine my heart skipped a couple of beats when they announced the first prize! Not that I really expected it to be me, but a girl can dream, can't she?
By the way, I'm the one who did "Aurora Isis" (the dancing one, not the wings one, which was beautiful, btw.) I was really pleased with my costume but I wish I had practiced dancing with only one eye! It really screws with your balance, let me tell you! Also, two minutes is a looong time! I never should've timed my music for the full two minutes. I think audiences get bored after a minute or so of the same thing. Oh well, live and learn, I guess!
I WAS proud of myself for designing and making a winning costume and concept. My sister got Best Theatrical (the martini thing). We had an awesome time!!! I had no idea how much fun it would be to walk around and be photographed for literally HOURS afterward. All the hard work is worth it just for that! I never knew I was such an attention slut!!!

It was just great to be there. Everyone was SO NICE!! The contestants, the organizers and the audience (and of course, JOE and the "gang") just made the whole thing such a wonderful experience. It was great to meet so many of the other contestants and I look forward to being a part of this group, now that I've decided to stop being a "lurker"!
