| | The Kinks - Wonder Where My Baby Is Tonight | ] | I was really getting into the breeze thing from my last entry when I suddenly remembered something! Last night, after I got back, I went to turn on the light in my room and ran into a tall box. After exclaiming "Ouch, new obstacle!" I turned on the light to see what I had acquired. It was a tower fan! Linda knew how hot it was upstairs, so she bought it for me (how sweet, indeed). :) :) I tore into the box, armed with a screwdriver and busily set to assembling my new gadget.
This thing is just too darn neat-o. Usually, I might not be so excited by a fan, BUT this one has an extremely attractive feature...a REMOTE. :D :D Hoo boy, I'm fairly lazy to begin with, so add that to my lust for remote control electronics and, well, there's no stopping me...or is that getting me to start? haha What I do know is that I can control the fan speed, air flow mode, rotation, and even set it on a timer from anywhere in the room. *pushes buttons and makes fan beep a lot* hehehehehehehe...
Adios.
Oh, I'm getting up fairly early tomorrow (7am) in case you guys decide to do something downtown or whatever. At this point, taking a tour of a diaper factory would sound like a sweet deal, so don't worry about boring me (just be concerned for yourselves XD)or whatever. |

It was a pleasant Monday afternoon when the gang assembled and set out cruising. We were in search of sore thumbs and a good time. All objectives were met.
In fact, when I went to work this afternoon, it felt like I had had yesterday off! So strange. It reminded me of all the good times, back in MA, when I had a small group of friends that could turn a night of nothing into something. ;) I miss you guys! It also strikes me that I don't have Tom around to scare to death.
I could have sworn that I had taken a larger variety of pictures, but I have a feeling that, due to the number of cameras present, this is going to be a much-posted even in the coming days. I shall leave you with this gem, as it never ceases to amuse me.
(whenever I listen to this song, I feel as though I'm relaxing on a warm, summer night. It brings to mind the slow, smooth breezes that would gently wind their way through the tall oak behind my old house.) Anywho...

Of course, it didn't start until I was trapped inside Walgreens, but I did manage to see a lightning bolt strike the parking lot. :) It was way too cool. There was this crack & sizzle and amazing thunder. The automatic doors were stuck open and rain was blowing several feet into the store, but none of us were about to run up and try to shut them off. ;) I wanted so badly to run out there and attempt a cartwheel or something, but I don't think it would have been such a hot idea, as I still would have had to work the rest of the evening.
Boooooo bug bombs.

Oh and I heard about all that bug in food products a long time ago in wood shop (there's sawdust too ;) ). I just wish they sold a bug bar of sorts or a new kind of Almond Joy. (hey, sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you feel like a maggot. ;) ) |

| | The Kinks - The Village Green Preservation Society | ] | I did, indeed, have a wonderful day yesterday. I woke up waaaaaay too late in the day though. I slept through the phone ringing apparently, so I hurried and called my parents back. Jules and Kgirl sang me a couple of different songs (including happy birthday, of course) and managed to get wound up right before they went to bed. :P It's funny how much less I care about that now that I don't live there. lol
The bday present I had ordered for Rick arrived, so I thought I should call him to see if he was still alive (it's been quite some time since I've had contact with him). He was and we yakked and yakked until the batteries on his phone died. That was probably a good thing, as it was nearly 5pm and I had yet to take a shower. After that, I ran out on my bike to return an item at Target and pick up some cleaning supplies for the bathroom (as well as a few things for myself ;) ). When I got back I started in on cleaning the shower and figuring out what I wanted to eat. Soon enough Linda was home and we went out to eat. That was pretty much my birthday.
Oh, the night before Linda came home and surprised me with a bag of goodies. She had gone straight to IKEA from work and brought me back all sorts of shtuff. :) It looked as though she had raided the little food store, but she also got me some closet organizers that I had been yapping about for quite a while.
Many Thank Yous to all the well-wishers -I am so blessed to have all my friends on my list. :D

| | The Clash - Safe European Home | ] | I'm feeling all drowsy, but I can't go to sleep due to the new energy drink I tried tonight at work. So, this might be a good time to let out all those random things going through my head. Of course I'll regret all of this in the morning. ;) First off, too many things today (and the past week for that matter) have made me think of a certain place. *cough* ;) Yeah, I'd like to go back there, but I cringe at the thought of that house. ;P I know it wouldn't be half as bad as it was the first time. In fact it would be completely different -a much more, independent, clear-headed, and coordinated effort. There really were only a couple of practical reasons (well, I think they are ;) ) that I came back to the States and it wasn't even my idea in the first place. I just wish I could convince certain people that I didn't actually hate living in Norway. :(
Um, oh yeah -who gave Linda my new email address??? Nice move. I'm assuming it was the "Head Zombie Grunter, Twin of Baldy". I've already received e-cards and I'm just bracing myself for the ensuing spam including the usual flood of Linda forwards. I tried hard to keep the last account clean and I was working towards the same here -that's why I had the hotmail one for her. ;)
Ooh I bought a bicycle. At first I forgot to buy a pump and then I noticed the front wheel was on backwards (wasn't me) so I bought a wrench set and turned it around. The next thing to buy is a new seat because the standard is so hard and uncomfortable that it might as well have been a spike.
Ebay is a wonderful thing. There are several things that I'd like to get there, but I'd have to buy in bulk quantity (don't worry -the bulk price is cheapo-depot). So, I was wondering if anybody would want any extras? I could start a mailing list for "Leif's Ebay Left-Overs". Kinda like a grab-bag thing. What do ya say? ;) Of course I wouldn't charge anybody anything, you'd just have to figure out what in the world you were going to do with 20 test tubes and half a dozen flanges. Then again, this sounds like so much fun, I just might buy and send individual random items.
Since Messa's computer went bust I've been calling her every morning and, surprisingly, it has yet to make me late for work. Which is good because, come the end of the month, I'm gonna need all those hours to cover the phone bill. ;)

One part had me flying a plane that belonged to somebody I work with (he doesn't actually have a plane ;) ) and I was mad that he didn't tell me about half of the controls until we landed. There was another part where I was at a meet for people that had nice, old cars. Except when I pulled in, I was sitting on a towel. I suddenly felt embarrassed that I was scooting and tugging on my ride in the presence of all the hot-rods, but the guy at the entrance assured me that it was ok and said "Hey, James Garner has a towel too.".

| | Rolaids commercial | ] | Ruth asked why I had said that I wasn't drinking any soda this month and I promised to relate what little tale there was. Basically it's goes like this: One day, last week, I bought a Coke out of desperation (I believe I was trying to wake up) and, according to the text printed inside the cap, I won a free 20oz Coke. I was standing near one of the assistant managers, Ms. Tillman, and we started talking about how many other free Cokes were sitting there in the cooler just waiting for us to grab them. Well, after three more sodas we weren't feeling well and were out several bucks. ;) That's when I said to her that I usually don't drink soda to begin with and didn't need to revisit old habits and declared that I would be soda-free for at least the rest of the month. Then that Diet Pepsi snuck up on me the other night. :P It wasn't like I was trying to fight it and I just gave in -I don't care for diet sodas at all and I just plumb forgot about my pledge. I'm back on the wagon, for now anyway. ;)
I did have an extreme test of will-power today. As I walked into the store, I spied a huge cart of all sorts of Easter candy, including a large box of those wonderful Creme Eggs many of us are so fond of, for 10 cents each! Later on, as I was giving the cashier a break, a gentleman came to the counter with that box of creme eggs. My heart sank. Was he going to buy all of them??? (there were several hundred there)
(The box was a mix of the original creme eggs and the caramel version as well.)
What he said next was almost worse - "I just want the regular ones" (If I was to cave and buy a few, it would only have been for the plain ones ;) ) So I stood there and counted out 120+ eggs for him and felt almost sad as he walked out the door. Why would I not be surprised if they ended up in another store selling for five times the price? :P
Adios!

I'm changing many aspects of my everyday life and as far as LJ goes I am committed to making the comments that I want no matter how many times I have to load and reload the page to get it posted. ;) Also, I'll be making an entry every time I have something to say or if something comes to mind instead of putting it off and/or never doing it. This may not seem unusual, but earlier this week I promised one of the managers that I wouldn't drink any soda for the rest of the month. I didn't even think about that, I just kind of grabbed it out of the fridge because it was the only cold thing to drink. Diet Pepsi too -what a way to blow it. :P
In better news tomorrow is Easter Sunday and my dad is flying in from Oslo. So, after the morning service Linda and I are heading downtown and meeting up with him for dinner. Ooh and I have next Wednesday off. :)
I've started looking into police auctions as a way to score a cheap bike for myself. I have run across some very amusing govt. auctions on the net including one for a 1967 Coast Guard Patrol Boat. I saw pictures and let me tell you -that would be cool to tool around in. ;)
