Okay, switched to Semagic as my client. I've found it's better and more vesitile.

Today I got out the shoe cleaning kit, and sorted out my boots. The heel's been replaced with thicker rubber than the origional, so I'm going to have to keep my eye on that, as the rest will probably wear through fairly quickly.
I used the Sean Kennedy method, with fortunatly for me, involves setting fire to things. :)

After cleaning them, drying and stripping out the wrecked old laces, I set fire to the Kiwi shoe polish to get it melted. That really was good, it was like indian ink. It went on so easily. There were no Kiwi clotches at the shoeshop though, so I had to make do with using rougher clothes a lot more delicately.

I also managed to get to see Doc Brown (heh) today. He's signed me off work for the following week, until my back's better. I'll have to find someone to drop it in tommorow. *yawn*
    9:50 pm
I'm watching Close Encounters of the 3rd kind.
You know Roy with the model trains? The one who builds the clay models?

For one thing, I can never see how anyone could get themselves into a marriage with such a fragile person as his wife. He has something happen to him, she blames herself, then blames him as if he's trying to make thier family fall apart. I cannot stand people like that. So, yes, I hate his wife.

The other thing is that I empathise with him. As he's making those models, he can see something, he doesn't know what. It's on the tip of his tounge, but he just can't see it.
I feel like that every day of my life. Every problem is like that until it's solved. I know it's answer is there in my mind, every time, but until it's done, you never fully see it. It's blindingly frustrating.

    Thinking of you, Kitten
Well, after mon brethren pointed me at a flash animation, I felt I should go look at the comic of the celebration flash. That's led me to this panel, with the best Battle Cry ever. I'm gonna adopt it.

I'M GOING TO HUMP YOU UNTIL THE LAWS OF PHYSICS ARE VIOLATED!!!

Hmm, there's a little thing in windows that turns on details about your graphics and Windows version, displayed in the bottom left and right corners of the desktop.
Anyone remember where it is, and how you turn it off?

    Yikes
Since I'm supposed to be relaxing, and getting my back back together, I've been organising files on my computer. I've delt with about 25Gigs of stuff so far, and now I'm moving into individual files.
I just found one from November last year. A list of things to do. The number of them I've done is embaracingly small.

    Done items highlighted in bold.

Gotten the replacement cover plate for the sewing machine, and gotten on with my coat.
Gotten my sister out of my room by giving her an old computer of her own.
Gotten that Beowulf cluster setup, or even just assembled. (obsolete due to faulty hardware)
    Completed content for Starborne Works.
Put up those piles of crap I have sitting around, up on eBay for sale.
Cleared out the shed and gotten the workshop finished.
Gotten my room clean and clear.
Posted back to Jessica her items, that I don't disserve.
Tested the old computer equipment I have around and disposed of the remains.
Should have been reading a little every night, trying to get that 300 book reading pile down, so I can use my sofa again.
Should contact Alina and arange to collect the rest of my Battle Angel mangas back from her.
Must get another, bigger table up here to keep the computer equipment tidy. (I built my desk)
Must start sorting and scanning all the magazines I have stacked up, so they can be recycled. (well, I have STARTED)
Must start dismantling Poppy, so her state can be better assesed. (obsolette. Just trying to get rid of her now.)
    Must resort all legal documents.
    Must reorganise room.
Need to find suppliers of oak timbers for bed design.
Need to finish assembly of the vacuum chambers.
Need to post birthday pressents to Damien and Melissah. (can't recall what I sent. Did I?)
Must send money to australia to cover delivery of turbo-pump.

    Such little progress...

Back from the doctors, and it looks like I may not be in work for a few days.
He said the muscles in my lower back are in spasm, possibly a combination of stress and fatigue. If they don't relax in 3 days, I'll get a sicknote for work, and should go to an osteopath.

Heh, I have a medical need for a backrub. :3

If the pain gets worse, take some paracetamol, or other painkillers.

Isn't alchohol supposed to be a muscle relaxant? Hey Selina! If my back's not better when you're in london next week, bring booze!

Well, I've dropped my aircrew boots into the shop to get the heels replaced. There's a lot of tread still on the boots as a whole, but just there at the back, they're wearing into the rubber padding. Gonna pick them up on Wednesday, as well as new laces, insoles and some Kiwi polish & clothes.
Any army-types may be interested in the current episode of Patrolling, which partly deals with keeping your boots shiney and in good nick. Dissect as you wish, but it's kicked me in the bum to get my boots delt with.

I have an apointment at the doctors for 9:30 tommorow morning, before work. I'll have to get myself up nice and early.

Went to the mini center. The inicator assemblys aren't the right ones. The ones they had in stock were the same size and shape as the rear ones used on the Morris Traveller. There IS a smaller glass indicator with chrome bezel out there somewhere, and I beleive it's only found on the very early Minis. Still, at least I know the rough price now.

Went to grandads. Found I only had the key for the rear of the garage, so had to press my back up to the sideway wall and shuffle-walk up the wall and over the gate. Cleaned up my workbench, so that should placate him a bit. Still, the Car is dragging on and feeling more and more like a huge chrome and black millstone around my neck. Perhaps I should have gotten a moterbike instead.
Still another month to go until my "free classic" advert goes up in Practical classics, in hope to find Poppy a good home. Renting two garages is killing my finances.

I'm not as down as I sound, just tired.

My screens did turn up today though. 84 Kopin Cyber Display 320's. Diddy lil things they are too. Tippus assures me they'll hookup fine to Amiga hardware, though we'll ahve to do something about a powerdown function, or we'll risk burning out control electronics when restarting (due to screen capacitance). At 320x240, 256shade greyscale, that's enough for limited graphics, a scrolling menu interface, and non-standardly wordwrapped text. Wearable computers, baby!

    Hypothetical situation
A lady is staying with a guy. He has a huge crush on her, but she can't stand him. In his warped logic, he decides if she were pregnant with his child, she'd have to love him. So, while she's asleep he comes into her room and jerks off over her naked form.
A while later, she finds out she's pregnant (you don't actually need penetration for conception). She's completely sober, and a DNA test shows it was her room-mate, so the situation is logicly worked out, or maybe he confesses with the wide grin and "No we can be a couple!"

My question is though, since I don't think this would fall under the legal heading of rape, and possibly not even sexual assault, since there was no violence, what legal area would such an act fall under?

Looking through Slashdot, I notice a post that's led me back to some intersting sites about the Singularity. From there, it's made me re-ponder my thoughts of a need for an OS to have not merely adictionary, but a thesaurus.
How many times have you been hunting for something on the internet, and not found it, only for someone else to point you to an article with different (but same meaning) terms? A search engine with a contextual system like this could surely be far better for finding hits with an extension beyond what you know you're looking for?

I know there are 'AI' programs out there that are absurdly basic, that you can feed a document, and they'll parse the data for patterns. Albeit this idea would need to be applied on a far larger scale. Give it an internet connection and poke it at the Wikipedia, and let it roll on, finding its own links and context by a counting of what words are used in other documents with those words in.

In other news, I think my PC is settling in again. The WinAmp random play is predicting my thoughts once more. Dear little tsukumogami it is. Awww.

Left another message on the answerphone where she's staying. Remembered to leave contact info this time.

After several hours cleaning, I found my phone book. It was beside the phone. I'd left a piece of paper over it. >_<

Called her. No reply. Left a message on the answerphone, though forgot to leave any contact details. Dummy. I'll try again later tonight. I'm heading out now. Got invited out to the pub by some people from work. Snooker time.

My floor is substantially clearer. This is good.

I'd like to get myself some chineese food later. If I have enough cash left, I may well treat myself to that. Tommorow, clinic for a check on my back *crick-pop* and heading over to grandad's to check his auto-watering system's working. and get my workbench there clear. I'll do a last bit of cutting on the car too, exposing the drivers-side sill member.
I need a micrometer. And information on setting up datum points, would be helpfull too. Must get the SWI Wiki running. This is the kind of stuff that needs to be fed into it.

I know people that collectively have an awsome wealth of information, but locked up in those individual minds.

If the SWI Wiki ever gets large and popular enough, it struck me a hardcopy yearly publication of it could be in order. A simple Perl parsing program could translate any crosslinks into page-number references, afterall.

I hope I get through later. I know I'm probably still over paranoid, but it'll be good to know she's okay.

Last night I wanted to call her, check she was okay. Couldn't find my phone book though. This morning I've been cleaning to try and find it. Still no luck. Just about all my phone numbers are in that as hardcopy. *whimper*

    Pants redux
Well, after thier first time in the wash (I have washed them before now, but haven't worn them again until today) the waist seems have started to disintigrate. I've lost about a quarter of the seams in the last 15 minutes. Piece of Shit!!

They're made by Helly Hansen, and sold under the Lifa Sport label. Don't touch them with a ten-foot pole. Once again, Fucking piece of crap waste of money!

On another note, Patrick took me out last night. Origionally we were going to hit Slimelights, but everyone else in his group chickened out, so we went to a pub. Weren't there long before the pub closed, so I was dragged off to a club called "Frog" by Tottenham Court Road. I had a bit to drink, so I was able to relax a bit and get merry. Did some piss-poor dancing, and sung along to some of the stuff they played. Heh. Was a good lot of fun.
The coat-check guy stole my lil Red AA Maglite though, so we're not going there again. Fucker.

    SMS problems
Got to bed early last night. As in before midnight. So I actually feel somehwat rested for a change. Hopefully my back will last out the day. Need to go to the clinic about it on monday.
Seems I got a message on my phone last night. I'm still not all that ofay with the details, but aprently an SMS differs somewhat from a regular text. Biggest difference is no senders number.

"GGEuDraco - sorry for being an arse, but can I camp out at yours, I go nowhere else? >.< I didn't want to annoy you by asking :รณ Free SMS at cbfsms.com"

Is GGEuDraco the person who sent this, or the person it was suposed to get to? How to heck are you supposed to reply to an SMS anyway?
Anyway, the message says it was sent at 1:15am, so I'm very sorry to whoever that was, but I was long asleep. :/

    I just made a realisation!
Part of the reason people think life is so complex, is because they look at everything at once. Life doesn't hate you, people do!

    Thinking hat
Well, after reading dear [info]le_loup_peint's entry about not being able to see the wolves before she comes over to this country, because of her op and the need for a wheelchair, I got thinking. Why has noone made an all-terrain wheelchair? Or at least one for muddy ground.
So, I was compelled to make a few notes at work..

What we are told, is not all there is
Our governing laws and those of physics, have something in common. They were both made by people.
Physics is only where people have spotted patterns in what goes on in the world. There are likely an infinite number of undiscovered patterns. I find this very exciting.
When you start thinking down these lines, you stop thinking of textbook equations and diagrams of how things have been done before, and start seeing how things could be done.
I feel like I'm rediscovering my creativity on some primal level. Not just creativity though, but perhaps my tao. I still can't explain it, and perhaps that really is what is missing from my mind. Things not merely beyond the patterns, but beyond contemporary comprehension. Though I'm sure [info]catkin would tell me otherwise. Time to start seeing the patterns in other things. Life, religeons, beleifs, cakes..

Despite my resistance, there is a Tao, and I keep straying across it. Every so often I can feel it, like I have wandered into a feild of absolute certainty. Perhaps the consequences of aparently losing free-will is what has scared me away from it. But perhaps it would be merely falling in step with the universe?

Reality is the framework of perceptions and mutual agreements on what is. By wandering away from the common perceptions of the world, from many eyes I will likely be concidered insane. The main difference between what this entails and actuall insanity though, is the simple difference between what will work, and what wont. Proof. No delusions, no halucinations. If I see another way of doing things, and it works, actually works, then I'm obviously not wrong.

This is too rambling for an early morning post. Shower-time.
