WOW!
By ORLA HEALY
June 22, 2004 --
CHELSEA Clinton's chic new look is turning heads. With her sleek, honey-blond coif and understated but deftly applied makeup, the former first daughter has undergone a dramatic transformation from bookish collegiate to soign‚e sophisticate - sparking rumors she had help from a plastic surgeon.
Not so, counter a panel of insiders - who insist the 24-year-old's new urban-cool polish is the result of flattering makeup, soft golden highlights and a layered haircut that aspiring look-alikes have already christened "The Chelsea."

HOW TO DO 'THE CHELSEA'
THE urban chic makeover clearly did wonders for Chelsea, but we wanted to know if it would work its magic on other curly girls. THROUGH THE YEARS
CROSBY SHOW
By MELISSA LIEBLING-GOLDBERG
You've navigated SoHo and NoLIta on a sunny summer day. On your next visit, take the road less traveled and discover a street that's chock full of fashion finds - Crosby Street, between Broadway and Lafayette.
SALES!
YOU'VE GOT SALE
By DANICA LO
SUDDENLY, it's summer - and you haven't got a thing to wear. And if you've been putting off shopping for weddings, Hamptons weekends and more, it's now or never.
SET SALE FOR THE SUMMER BUYS
AT Henri Bendel, the first wave of discounts went into effect last week. Though a second markdown will take place in late summer, now's the time to shop for classic pieces and items you thought were too frivolous two months ago. At 40 percent off, there's "no rear-view mirror guilt," says Michael Palladino, director of client services.
WILD THINGS
By MELISSA LIEBLING-GOLDBERG
The Gucci snake has spawned a wildlife trend. Animals are popping up all over, in unexpected ways - sleeker, bolder and more chic than ever before.
WELL-SUITED
By PRUE LEWINGTON and ELIZABETH LIPPMAN
It's still maddeningly tricky to dress for the weather - hot and humid one week, rainy and damp the next. Then there are those occasionally chilly summer nights.
WILD CHILD STYLE
By FARRAH WEINSTEIN
HEATHERETTE designers Richie Rich and Traver Rains are overworked. In addition to making Anthony Kiedis a white, airbrushed suit for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' summer tour, they just received a call that Courtney Love needs a dress in less then 12 hours.
TERRY, TERRY EVERYWHERE
By PRUE LEWINGTON
Terry cloth is cool again! Forget about towels and slippers. The trendy new terry comes in funky bags, wedge heels and sexy jackets. The '70s retro fabric is loved because it's comfy, casual and carefree. Hip designers like Juicy Couture, AKA and Ronny Kobo re-invented it for summer '04 using mod colors and wacky embellishments.
BOOTING UP
By PRUE LEWINGTON and ELIZABETH LIPPMAN
The Ugg may be dead, but boots in springtime are here to stay. We've spotted city chicks pairing leather, cowboy and suede boots with mini-miniskirts.
BACK TO THE BEACH
By MELISSA LIEBLING-GOLDBERG
FORGET about slimming black - the way to make your bod look great on the beach is to cover it with big, bright, flashy flowers and patterns. This summer, stores are exploding with '70s-inspired prints and funky accessories. Even in the sand, it's all about whimsical totes, citrus-bright towels, J.Lo-worthy sun hats and the best flip-flops Brazil has to offer.
