9/11 Commiemission

For its final public hearing on Thursday, the Sept. 11 Commission will focus on why U.S. air defenses were unprepared to stop an airborne attack on America, a topic that could raise questions about the decision by the Clinton administration to abolish the New Jersey Air National Guard wing that had been designated to protect New York City airspace.

You just know that they will try to pin this on Bush also.

Iraq and al Qaida

Weekly Standard reporter Stephen Hayes was on Monica Crowley's Radio show this weekend and he had this to say.

"The Clinton administration, in a sealed indictment of Osama bin Laden in the spring of 1998, included very prominently, in the fourth paragraph, a discussion of this agreement, They called it an understanding between Iraq and al Qaida, whereby al Qaida agreed not to agitate against the Iraqi regime," Hayes said. "In exchange the Iraqi regime agreed to supply assistance on weapons development."

I love this story

Edward I. Koch wrote write over at NewsMax.

On one occasion, we were driving across 42nd Street. New Yorkers had been informed the president was coming, and they were there in the thousands. Reagan was looking out the right side window when he suddenly yelled, “Look, that guy gave me the finger.” I said: “Mr. President, don’t be so upset. Thousands are cheering you and only one guy gave you the finger.” He replied, “That’s what Nancy says, that I always see the guy with the finger.”

Graciousness

Graciousness Beyond the call of duty.

There are many reasons why I would never be President or any other elected Position for that matter. I simply do not have the Grace that our President does.

Take this latest example from the Ronald Reagan eulogy.

Ronald Reagan's moment arrived in 1980. He came out ahead of some very good men, including one from Plains and one from Houston.

This is after everything that %@*& from Plains has said about him.

Ohhh No I would have….lets just say gotten ugly.

INTO THAT GOODNIGHT

"I know that at his last moment, when he opened his eyes, eyes that had not opened for many, many days, and looked at my mother, he showed us that neither disease nor death can conquer love." - Patti Davis.

"He is home now. He is free. In his final letter to the American people, dad wrote, `I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life.' This evening, he has arrived. - Ron Reagan Jr.

"Nearly at the onset of Alzheimer's disease, my father and I would tell each other we loved each other and gave each other a hug. As the years went by and he could no longer verbalize my name, he recognized me as the man who hugged him. So when I would walk into the house, he would be there in his chair, opening up his arms for that hug." - Michael Reagan.

THE MEDIA STILL DOES NOT GET IT

"Mourners' Attire Not Quite Reaganesque"

Ronald Reagan was a formal man. He would step off Marine One in a finely tailored suit, tossing a wave and a smile. Even as he cut brush at his Santa Barbara ranch, his jean jacket seemed freshly pressed, his pompadour impeccable. The same can't be said for many of his mourners, some of whom trundled past his flag-draped coffin yesterday wearing flip-flops, cargo shorts and T-shirts, their flabby midsections exposed. Some young women wore ultra-mini skirts and halter tops. Altogether, the sweaty masses clashed with the crisp honor guard in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, perhaps America's most sacred secular site.

From the WaPo.

The Media as we all know just don't Get Ronald Reagan. The fact of the matter is these people are "Reagan's People". Well dressed or not Reagan would not mind at all.

ANDREW SULLIVAN STILL WANTS THIS TO BE TRUE

From NewsMax:

Bush Camp: LA Times Poll Loaded with Dems

The Bush campaign is accusing the Los Angeles Times of loading up its latest presidential survey with Democrats in order to show Sen. John Kerry with a 51 to 44 percent lead.

"Be very careful in reporting Los Angeles Times poll," Bush strategist Matthew Dowd warned ABC News. "It is a mess."

"Bush is leading independents by three, ahead among Republicans by a larger margin than Kerry is ahead among Dems, and we are down by seven," Dowd said, noting the math doesn't add up.

Calling the distortion "outrageous," he accused the Times of oversampling Democrat by a margin of 10 to 12 percent."

Poor Andrew Sullivan can't come out and just Back Kerry. He has to pretend day after day how pained he is "reporting" the Polls.

WHAT THE LIB MEDIA DOES NOT WANT TO SHOW

The Lib Media cut away from the hearse carrying former President Ronald Reagan every time they would have to show live shots like this. How petty of them.

But they will have to put up will all us for a few more days.

The Media is also starting a new line. “the people are coming out because they want to witness History.” Goes the current rational of the Chris Matthews types. NO you ignorant dummies they are out to pay respects to a man they admired and loved in many cases. You dim bulbs on the LEFT still don’t get it. You never will get it.

Do your blood Pressure a service by not trying to understand it.

THE TRUTH COMES OUT

Still, as one national Democrat lamented privately Tuesday, Reagan trumps everything: "You turn on the network news this morning, and suddenly it's not `More deaths in Iraq' or `The latest on the prison-abuse scandal' anymore. TV does emotion well, and the death of a popular president is emotional. That's the story line. We can't compete with that."

Sometimes the Dems can tell the truth. They hate the fact they can't beat up on the Military this week.

But then some DimBulbs have this pipedream.

Some Democrats insist Kerry can still benefit from Reagan nostalgia in the long run. They argue that Bush simply doesn't measure up to Reagan, that Reagan's big shadow makes Bush look small and that, as a result, Kerry will draw swing voters who want a more substantive person to fill the office.

THE NEWS MEDIA

The Left is getting the eye twitch going now. The Marbles in the hand will start spinning soon.

This is from the NY Post.

DAN Rather and Tom Brokaw work for dif ferent networks but agree one thing — coverage of Ronald Reagan's death has been excessive, they say. "Even though everybody is respectful and wants to pay homage to the president, life does go on," Rather told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"There is other news, like the reality of Iraq," said the "CBS Evening News" anchor. "It got very short shrift this weekend."

Networks have been going almost wall-to-wall with coverage since Reagan passed away Saturday at the age of 93. The former president was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease nearly 10 years ago.

"Once the herd starts moving in one direction, it's very hard to turn it, even slightly," Rather said. "Nationally, the herd has grown tremendously."

"I think just about everything is over-covered these days," said Brokaw, who anchors the "NBC Nightly News." "The spectrum is so crowded. With all the cable networks, it begins to have a 'video wall' feeling to it."

Jennings said he had mixed feelings about the Reagan coverage.

"I'm more inclined to spare coverage — come on [the air], do something meaningful, then get away," he said.

"The last time I had to do it was with O.J. Simpson [during the 1994 car chase], and I had nothing to say after a certain period of time."

Coverage of Reagan's death will continue through Friday's funeral on all the news networks (broadcast and cable).

SOCAL NEWS

LA City of "Angels"? Not anymore.

Despite passionate pleas from an overflow crowd of 2,000, Los Angeles County's Board of Supervisors refused Tuesday to back down on its decision to remove a tiny Christian cross on the official seal because of a legal threat from the ACLU.
from the LA daily news.

LA Daily News says 2,000 people showed up. LA Times says 700? I wonder who to believe? BoiFromTroy would be a good person to ask.

THE LEFT LIES

BoiFromTroy has a quote from a Nitwit United States Senator Dianne Feinstein.

However, his move to close down mental health facilities in California resulted in widespread homelessness in urban areas. Though he sought to steer the mentally ill into community-based mental health facilities the end result was a spike in homelessness, a problem that we continue to deal with to this day.

This is the real story.

The Short-Doyle Act, implemented in 1957, was designed to organize and finance community mental health services for persons with mental illness through locally administered and locally controlled community health programs. This basic structure was reaffirmed through the Bronzan-McCorquodale Act of 1991, also known as program realignment. The Department of Mental Health (DMH) in consultation with the California Mental Health Directors’ Association and the California Mental Health Planning Council, the Department of Mental Health (DMH) sets policy, standards and procedures for the delivery of community-based public mental health services statewide. DMH establishes priorities, standards and procedures; assists in, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating programs; and oversees any changes resulting from the evaluation and review process.

The left likes to blame Reagan for homelessness because of the release of the mentally ill. As you can see the Act that mandated the release of these nutballs predated Reagan and still is on the books today.

The Left is to blame for this, not Reagan.
