[info]dew1969: My Favorite LFTx '04 Moments

I'm still bummed out about having to miss so much of Ladyfest this weekend, but I've been going back through the pictures and getting reminded of the fun I did have. Here are (in no particular order) my favorite moments from Ladyfest Texas 2004:
  • Ainjel Emme's duet with her mother
  • Sarah's birthday cake (and the ensuing cake fight in the audience) during the Bad Apples' set
  • Watching Anita (my gf) dance to Ms. Led and the Butchies
  • Anita meeting a lot of my friends
  • Big Sam's quesadillas
  • Being alive and able to attend as much of the festival as I did (thank you, Seton)
Least favorite moments:
  • Having to cancel my own performance (damn exploding organs!) and not getting to meet [info]baldomom and [info]popejoan
  • The drunk piece of shit who kept shoving me around during the Bad Apples' set
  • Trying to stay awake during the singer/songwriter showcase when I was in such pain
  • Being told by one of the ignorant-ass protesters that "no woman is ever forced to become pregnant"
  • Missing all of the workshops, especially those that were presented by my friends
  • Confirming that two of my friends broke up with each other

[info]zinnea:

Ladyfest Seattle 2004, a four day festival of women-centered arts (including music, performance art, burlesque, film, visual art), seeks volunteers to help us put on a successful festival that both showcases some great art and raises money for charities--specifically Aradia Womens Health Clinic and Amnesty International.

Interested in being an event volunteer for Ladyfest Seattle 2004? All volunteers get free admission to LFS for the day of their volunteeer shift and are a very much appreciated part of making the fest a success.

Our first event volunteer orientation takes place on Saturday, June 5th, at 1pm. The meeting will be held at Caffe Vita on Capitol Hill, 1005 East Pike, Seattle. We will most likely be meeting upstairs, look for a table with a sign.

At the meeting you will hear about Ladyfest Seattle and our purposes and goals, learn about our scheduled events, and be able to sign up for shifts that match your interest and availability. LFS is an inclusive organization--all are welcome.

Please feel free to forward this information to anyone you know who might be interested. If you would like to volunteer for the fest but are unable to make this meeting, please send an e-mail to coordinator@ladyfestseattle.org with your availability, any special skills you might have (sound engineer, film projection, etc. and if you don't have any, don't worry--everyone is welcome), your age (some events are 21+) and your contact information.

You can find out more about Ladyfest Seattle at http://www.ladyfestseattle.org

LFS 2004 is a project of GCSS.

[info]dew1969: Anti-Ladyfest Protesters

There was a group of underage fundies (three of them) who showed up at both Ladyfest Texas Venues venues tonight (Thursday) to protest our support of the Lilith Fund. They were the most ignorant little fucks I've ever met. One of the twits actually said (I shit you not, this is an exact quote), "No women are forced to become pregnant." <sputter> WTF? The best part was when it started raining, they used their signs as umbrellas, choosing to stay a little drier than promote their message. Nice dedication, girls.

[info]dew1969: Help Me Pick Poems to Perform at Ladyfest

I'm going to be performing in the Mistresses of the Mic showcase at Ladyfest Texas in a couple weeks and still haven't picked which pieces I'm going to perform. I have a five-minute time slot to fill. Here are the pieces that I'm considering:

Disassociation
A Drive in the Country
Face Time
Generic Dream #3
Generic Dream #47
I Have Seen the Enemy
Invisible Woman
The Other Woman
The Politics of Passing
Puddle of Wine
Stranger in My Skin
Window Shopping
Your Souvenir

BTW, I'm pretty sure that I did "The Other Woman" and "Window Shopping" last year so I might want to drop them to avoid repetition.

Please, please, please, if you have any feedback on this, let me know ASAP. I'll probably be trying them out on Anita this weekend also.
