So that post this morning reminded me that I really had been meaning to post an update about syren72 here. After working like mad on her for the better part of the past year she was finally ready for her first official artcar show. We went to the 4th of July festival in Ashland, OR. We had a blast. People really liked her. I even had people taking pictures of each other standing next to her!

Some in-progress pics, as well as pics of my daily driver, are here: http://pics.livejournal.com/plymouth/ga
Next step: get all the trim I removed back on! And figure out what the fuck to paint on the hood and the trunk. They're such huge canvasses that I have to come up with something good... And try not to think too hard about how my daily driver would look really good as a British police car because, really, one artcar project at a time is enough...
Hiya! I'm spiffing up my very first car, an '89 Mercury Grand Marquis. I've got extensive decoupage in the interior, and would like to do that on the exterior, as well.
My plan was to paint it with one shot, rough it up, use adhesive and a wallpaper brush to get the images on there, and then get clear coat done professionally from a detailing place.
So, here's my plaintive request:
1. Do you think this will work?
2. What sort of adhesive should I use?
Come to the Art on Wheels Parade
Saturday, June 18th, 2005 in Prescott, Arizona
I will be making a five hour drive to participate in it
I went to grab a soda and saw this car outside the store. the owner says it represents different elements of nature including the ocean, the jungle and so forth.
( +2 )
So, the owner donated some monay to a guy who is running for the VA House of Delegates and he put a picture of us on his website. It's an old pic of me done up with tempera paint. Nowadays I look more like this.
it's that time again! the third annual austin art car parade is happening this saturday, april 16th, from 11:30am to 1:30pm (so you'll have plenty of time to sleep off friday night's debauchery.) come park yourself on congress and see the mobile art in motion! see the boat in waking life!

I'm ready to get started on the paintwork for my car, but I have some questions. I'd like it to last for the life of this paintjob, and the car is fairly new.
I'll be using 1Shot for the paintwork which will cover the hood and much of the body, but I have a lot of questions that I can't seem to find any answers to.
How much does a single quarter-pint can of paint cover?
How many coats should I use?
How should I prepare the surface to be painted? The car is currently silver and many of the colors I need to use are light, so I was thinking I might have to put down a base coat of white or some kind of primer.
Once the paint is done, what should I put over the whole thing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I run a website called lostinjersey and I have a section on arts including the Montclair Art Car parade which i thought I'd share now that I got all the pics working. Enjoy!
Ran across this article somewhere. Kinda dull at times, but does provide a web address to register your art car.
I've seen this lovely VW Beetle in the French Quarter several times. I finally was able to get a picture of it.
Enjoy

Hello everyone. Just new to LJ and thought I'd say hi. I'm the owner and creator of an '88 Taurus modified called S.C.A.V.E.N.G.E.R.
There are some other pics of her on my bio page.
These are all outdated as she has had alterations since. Hope to have some new ones soon.

Does anyone have any experience affixing paper to their art cars? I want to put a giant rasterized image on one side of my van, but am unsure about the best way to go about it. Possibly a coat of polyurethane after I glue the image on? It has the potential to be a sticky mess, so I'd rather not experiment this time around. So, if anyone has any ideas or experience with this, lemme know.
Thanks,
David
Behold the glory that is my car! :p
More stuff here.
Hi all! Just a little note from the friendly space cars at Roadsquadron.com...
First of all, if anybody out there has a space-themed car and would like a spot of their own on our website (which is dedicated to seeking out space cars and sharing their wonderment with the online community, and we tend to get a lot of press as we started off as a Star Wars "carfighter" site) please let me know and I'll be delighted to add you to the to-do list.
Secondly, I've just been informed that a sci-fi themed car has just gone up for sale, and he's really hoping the new owner will continue his work:
I have a partially transformed '93 Honda Civic that I just don't have the time or money to build on to anymore. I'm looking to sell it to an equally (or far more) crazy man who will continue to add on to the "Escape Pod".

Any help in trying to get the word out would rule!
