If you've not yet visited bushin30seconds.org, go. NOW. I'll wait until you get back. I've been spending the last couple of hours watching these commercials, and there are a lot of brilliant ideas there. They range from funny to scary, but most of them are just beautiful to watch. I wish I could afford to put the best of these in rotation in prime time on network television once an hour from now until the election. I think if people really knew what was going on, things might be in better shape here. Having said that, John Kerry sucks. I've still not been able to commit myself to voting for him. I also wish I could see good people able to run for office, instead of having to rely on the richest people. Maybe we can get someone to do a Dean-like internet fundraising campaign, started through viral marketing, in time for the election? Or at least for 2008? Anybody want to try? The Network: You are the Voice of World Control. Fnord. Which Illuminati are you? brought to you by Quizilla (This means I should be able to help out the right candidate...) The Bishop of Conway First Ward came by today to talk to me about a letter I sent several months ago. The letter indicated my desire to have my name removed from the records of the church, as I didn't want to be counted as a member at all, active or inactive. It was rather amusing, as one of the first things he mentioned was that there had been "accusations that you are a homosexual," to which I replied "yes, and?" He counselled me as my Bishop to repent, and I told him there was nothing to repent of. God made me this way, and if God then said it's wrong, then it's God's problem, not mine. That got one of those looks that I do so enjoy, the look of "Oh my God, help me, he's too smart for this crap!" I was quite firm in my request, and when he asked what Ben thought of all of this, I said "I don't know, let me ask him." I opened the door and said, "Ben, do you want out of the church? Right now?" Ben was excited, to say the least, so he joined me outside for a cigarette while chatting with the Bishop again. In the end, they decided that we were serious I guess, as they left and said they'd send paperwork. (There has to be a church court and we have to be excommunicated officially and such. Stupid paperwork.) But I'll be glad to fill it out, if it breaks my last official ties to the Mormon church. So long God, ya rotten bastard. May I never fall under your shadow again. |

It has been a simply fabulous weekend, a great break from life of late. 100% non- stop fun! Not the least of which was the 4-star ( Adam's Mark Hotel and Convention Center. ) The hotel is in a great area, with ( lots of stuff nearby. ) The convention had stuff set up in both the hotel and convention center, ( though most was in the convention center. ) But what you REALLY want to know, is what I DID to fill my days, right? Well, now that the stage has been set, we shall begin. ( We left Friday morning around 6:30. ) ( Saturday started around 10AM ) Sunday started at 10AM again ( as we prepared for checkout. ) So I took about 2 1/2 rolls of pictures, picked up a ton of freebies, met a lot of great people, had a great time with my friends, and can't wait to do it again next year. I'll post pictures when I get them developed, so look forward to it. Hope you've enjoyed this Kon Report, and hopefully some more of you can join in next year! And now, I think it's time to sleep. |

Finally, a grand, unified theory that explains Bush's domestic and international policies. Little did we know. Very very interesting. True? Who knows. But scary enough is the fact that it COULD be true. Just another reason why we must trim our Bush this year... I didn't mention this before, but last Saturday I went out to Woolly Hollow State Park with Melissa, Travis, Olivia, Nick, Tara, Shelia, & Kat for a picnic and swimming. It was Olivia's first picnic and time to swim, though she really wasn't happy with the cold water of the lake (she screamed when we put her in her little floaty seat in the water). So she stayed out with Melissa or Travis watching her, while the rest of us swam around for a good 45 minutes. After we got out, Melissa and Travis took a paddleboat out on the lake while Shelia, Kat, and I watched Olivia and Nick and Tara headed home. It was a lot of fun, and I hope we'll get to do it again soon! |

Well he's back, and aside from a little shaved patch on his front left leg, he's back to normal. Cost me enough: $424.50. Melissa is helping out as much as she can, so anyone else who wants in on this should let me know ASAP. Cash is accepted as well as paypal. I can pay everyone back, but it may not be until I get financial aid in September. In other news, my wallet has disappeared, so I've gotta call the bank and get my card cancelled, then try to get all of my ID and stuff. Hope this won't screw up my hotel room at A-kon... |

Fizzgig has a blocked urethra. Our usual vet is going out of town tonight, so he couldn't take care of he. He sent us to another vet, where Fizzgig is getting the care he needs right now (sedation, a catheter inserted, and plenty of fluids), and he'll be at the vet the next couple of days at least. Cost: $250-$400. I don't know where I will be getting this money, but I have to. I couldn't put him down, not over something so simple as this and in the middle of everything else. For Margo, Derek, and Will: Unless I can get the funding somewhere else, I won't be going to A-kon. The room is still reserved, so you guys can go if you want (I'll put the room in one of your names or something), but I can't pay for this and A-kon too. I'll let you know something soon on that. I know it's whiny and cliched, but if anyone can help out and wants to, I've got a PayPal account (for those far away). Ask for more info. You know, one of the Mormons who came over the other day asked me to pray about God and the Church and all, after hearing I wanted my name removed from the records. (I've been an "inactive member" for years now, but I want off the records so they'll quit bugging me.) So I said okay, I'll give it a shot. I prayed, not 2 days ago. And what happens? My cat gets sick, when of course I can't afford it. Thus proving to me that if there IS a God, He's a rotten bastard who takes pleasure in making me miserable. Take that, Mormons. |

So something's wrong with my cat Fizzgig. He seems to not be able to have a bowel movement. We're taking him to the vet at 4, but we really can't afford it at all. I don't know what I'm going to do, but he has to go and get better. Or get put down, though I really don't want to think about that. But it's better than dying from whatever is causing this. That's a horrible way to go, and I can't let that happen. I love my cats too much to let something like that happen. But if I lose him, on top of all of this other shit that I'm dealing with from mom... "Nothing is ever easy." |

So Clay went home today. Franklin and I took him back to his house, about 3 hours each way. It was Franklin's first time driving on the interstate (okay, technically it's a US 4-lane divided controlled-access highway, not a true interstate highway), and he handled it like a pro. We didn't do a whole lot this week other than just hang out around here, but it was still a lot of fun to have him around. Now that Franklin has shown willingness to make the trip, maybe we can get him down here a bit more often!! I borrowed 5 Stephen King books from him before we came back: Rose Madder, The Talisman, Black House, The Regulators, and Desperation. They're all Dark Tower related, which of course I'm obsessed with. (Did I mention book 6 comes out next month??) I'll get them back to him somehow, even if I have to mail them. Oh yeah, and Franklin borrowed copies of the Dark Tower books too, so he can read them. It's the Clay Schoolfield Lending Library! So I guess that's it. Have a fun night! |

So my friend cschoolfield's (Clay) cousin is up visiting family, and on his way back he'll be passing through Conway. And Clay is coming along for the ride! So he'll be down here for a few days (don't know how long yet, as he has no concrete plans to get back home yet), which is really cool. I'm glad things worked out like that for us, 'cause it'll be nice to have him around for a while. I dunno what we're gonna do, but he'll be showing up on Tuesday, when Franklin is off work. Maybe Derek can come down, and we can all watch Big Fish together or some other stuff. Which reminds me, I've got five of Nick's DVDs borrowed via Melissa that I need to copy. I should probably start on that! Mom had her tracheotomy done Thursday night, and she'll be taken off the sedatives tomorrow. It's not planned to be permanant, they just wanted to put it in because she's going to be on the ventillator for a while yet. Her diaphragm has weakened since she's not been breathing on her own, so they'll have to wean her off of it. This way there's less chance of infection, and she'll be able to talk a lot easier. Maybe we can all go see her Thursday or something. It'd be cool to introduce Clay to Shelia & Kat! Mmm, fat old lesbians... Yeah, can you tell I'm actually excited, for the first time in weeks? Something good is finally happening! Unless this is just the Universe's way of bringing me up before slamming me down again... |

My hand and arm are all itchy, because I've been picking blackberries from the bushes out back, and there are little scratches from the thorns on the bush. But I've got about 2 1/2 cups of fresh ripe blackberries. So now Ben and I are debating on what to make. We found a great recipie for a blackberry cobbler, but it calls for 3 cups of berries. I think we're just going to make it anyway, since the berries are filling and won't affect the crust at all. I was going to measure them out in my big glass measuring cup, but when I checked inside it I found a brown recluse spider. Yes, those are dangerous ones. I hate spiders, especially of the poisonous variety, but I managed to squish it with a conveninet paper towel. I've been seeing more of them over the last few years, and I hope they're not going to invade here like they have in northeast Arkansas. And there are so many berries left on the bushes out there, ranging from green to nearly-ripe. I need to get some leather gloves or something. If anybody has any suggestions on trimming back the thorny vines or anything, let me know. I've been copying DVDs today, mostly from old DVD-RW discs I wanted to keep. I picked up some DVD cases at Office Depot last night that hold 2 discs each, which is nice for the old copies I made that took 2 discs each. And I found out that Melissa had the DVD of The Storyteller, which I LOVED when I was a kid, so I've been watching that! :D (And I've also learned how to rip a DVD now, so I'm ripping the episodes for some friends.) Okay, well I'm going to go try to make some baked goods now, so have a great evening, and if you're in the area come by for some blackberry cobbler! |

So I tried to install my newly-downloaded legal copy of Windows XP (I know, legal and downloaded don't usually go together, but I got it through the MSDN Academic Alliance program), and what did I get for it? Massive computer failure. See, they didn't give me a serial for it (or I just couldn't find it), and when it got to the point of asking for one, I had to restart the install trying to use my old copy. And for some reason, I couldn't just finish the install, or reinstall over the partial install I just did, but had to FORMAT my Windows partition. So I've lost a bunch of e-mail, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and such. So all of you people who I should have this info for, please e-mail me with it so I can rebuild my address book. But yeah, I finally got everything re-installed, most of my backups put back (but for some reason my Mozilla backups won't work), and such. Fun day yesterday. The grandparents are on their way back to Nebraska as we speak. My uncle Dale has to go to work Monday, so he's driving them back to Nebraska today and will go home to Colorado tomorrow. It was kinda nice seeing them again, especially since they only spent a few hours total over here and did very little bitching. That was quite refreshing. Mom is doing quite a bit better. She's still sleeping a lot, but she's awake much more and comunicating on a dry-erase board (since she can't talk with the ventillator still in her throat). Still on dialysis, but the kidney doc says her kidneys are quite healthy, just not working. No sign of any damage that would keep them from working again later. They're still getting a LOT of fluid out through dialysis (6L yesterday!), so that's good. Oh yeah, and Franklin has Siren, which is really cool, and REALLY hard. I'll have to play it later. Guess that's it for now. Talk to you folks later! |

I decided to watch Secretary Rumsfeld and the heads of the Defense Department testify before the congressional Armed Services Committee. It's been really interesting watching most of the congressmen try to get answers out of the Defense Department, and watching Rumsfeld and the Pentagon try to avoid giving any answers. A few of the Republican congressmen are having much more fun trying to make the administration look good... The spin is making me dizzy... I almost can't see the fnords! |

First on the More Bad News front: Franklin's dad probably has cancer. When it rains, it pours. Mom is doing somewhat better, more responsive and aware, much less swelling, with dialysis having taken out 18L of fluid in the first week. Hopefully now that things are getting back down toward a more normal level, her kidneys will start working again. We can hope... My grandparents are coming down tomorrow. I love them and all, but nothing is ever good enough for them. I don't look forward to that stress in the middle of everything else. I hope they won't stay too long, even though they have just as much right to be here as anyone. I got moved okay, and I've been doing a lot of laundry that's been piling up. I think all of my clothes are clean now, so I'm working on other blankets and stuff that have been hiding in my apartment for a while and were found when I moved. I need to find some places for all of my boxes too, and pretty soon. Otherwise that'll just be something else for the grandparents to complain about. I'm so tired. But who can I turn to for help here, who isn't in the middle of his or her own massive problems? |

Okay, well I'm all moved into mom's place, and there are boxes EVERYWHERE!!! And bags and bags of dirty laundry. I'm gonna set up my computer as soon as I can find a place for it, but at the moment I'm on Ben's. But I'll find a place for mine all quick like!! Got checked out of my apartment just fine, though we forgot to clean out the refrigerator and oven, so we had to do it at the last minute. But yeah, home now. Don't want to go to work in the morning... :'( Anyone wanna give me a ride at 8:45AM or so? |
