The Sacra of San Michele is an abbey built on top of mount Pirchiriano at the end of the 10th century, but the presence of monks on the mountain is undoubtedly earlier. The original building seems to date back to the Roman Empire (5th century) and consisted of three small chapels creating a tri-choral small Church. A fifth Church was built on an impressive foundation starting from the last peak of the mountain.

The Cupola of Guarini is one of the finest testimonies of baroque architecture. Guarino Guarini (1624-1683) was both architect and mathematician, this is evidenced in the geometric elaboration of his buildings. In the the Cupola, the extraordinary configuration of space and light has been described as a great work of optical illusions engineering.
- Visit to the Sacra of San Michele and the S. Antonio of Ranverso Abbey.
