MEChA hosted the second annual Northwest Regional Conference
February 7-9 on the University of Oregon campus. All MEChA chapters from
throughout the region attended the conference to discuss important issues
and future programming, including the National Conference being held in
March in Berkeley, California. Featured speakers at the regional conference
included best-selling author Victor Villasenor, editorial cartoonist Lalo
Alcaraz, and UO ethnic studies assistant professor Matt Garcia. In addition,
a Latino comedy showcase, Que Locos, was very popular with the students.
Overall, students felt that the regional conference was a definite success.
