Just who is Dr. Sly Felinos, CAT
Dr. Sly Felinos, CAT is, as you might expect, a cat. He is a cat that happens to live with Anna and I in Somerville, Massachusetts. Dr. Felinos received his PhD in the History of Felines in Art from an acredited cat school. His most recent work, The Concept of Pawzers in 14th Century Christian Feline Murals was awarded the Friskies Scholarly Acheivement Award and was a runner up for the 2002 National Book Award. He has appeared on Good Morning America, Fox and Friends, Today, Larry King Live, Hardball, and, most recently, made a guest appearance on The Simpsons, playing a suitor to the Simpsons’ cat Snowball. He enjoys barfing, pooping, crying, chasing string, watching shiny things, attempting to eat flies, and sleeping under the bed. His current research interests are, at this time, unknown.
All this being said, one might wonder if I have some sort of mental condition more comonly found amongst widowed old women. It’s possible, though, I insist on pointing out that I am not the only young, urban male with an unhealthy obsession about cats.
I like our cat. Anna likes our cat. We are not just happy — we are proud — to register a domain name after him. I am happy, I am PROUD to name my blog after him. After all, not just every cat has a PhD. I bet Andy Sullivan’s cat doesn’t.

There is nothing wrong with being obsessed with a cat. They appreciate the level of extra attention from an appropriately enthusiastic staff.
When I filled out the census form in 2000, I included my cat as my roommate. I was perfectly clear about it: his race was "felix domesticus," his ethnicity was "Maine Coon," and his current occupation consisted of "pet duties," such as cuddling, playing, and sleeping next to you, and that he held a secondary job of vermin control. To make sure no-one thought he was human, I included a photograph and a note, explaining that (unlike some other roommates I've had in NYC) I could state where he'd come from and what he did all day, and the census did ask for information about all occupants ....
