As President of Fuse, Marc Juris oversees the first viewer-driven, all-music television network. Assuming leadership in January 2002, Juris manages all network strategy and operations, including the re-branding as Fuse (from Muchmusic USA) in May 2003.
Prior to taking the helm of Fuse, Juris was executive vice president and GM of the AMC (American Movie Classics) channel.
Most of us have seen the ads by now. A group of young office workers, sort of a cross between yuppies and slackers, stand around while a co-worker hands out their lunches from a big Burger King bag. They compete to see who can come up with the most outlandish and innovative sandwich, try out new catch phrases (will someone please scrub "I'm spicy!" from my memory?), and, in general, enjoy tasty BK snacks and chat each other up.
In my first year working at HBS, I discovered that the students here are not your typical graduate students. They try to stay physically fit, but their social lives can sometimes get in the way; and the countless company cocktails and receptions provide them free food and beverages throughout the day.
"Donald Trump's hair should not be allowed on TV", declared Barry Diller - media mogul, e-commerce czar, former Hollywood studio chief and self-confessed 'contrarian' - when he visited the HBS campus on April 15th.
As the man behind such blockbusters as Saturday Night Fever, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Beverly Hills Cop, Diller has been around Hollywood and the media circuit long enough to know exactly what should be seen.
Congratulations to the graduating HBS MBA Class of 2004! We want to express our gratitude to you for running things so efficiently in this past year and we wish you good luck in your future careers.
The outgoing Class of 2004 has always been very helpful in getting the RC students over the hurdles of the first two terms, offering tea (and something stronger!) and sympathy in equal measure.
