I guess yesterday was okay.. collected autographs and bought an After Forever girly for Anouk, who'd asked me to do so. The later it got, the more I had these awful moodswings but I guess it'll be like that for a while.
I asked Kelly, the AF merchandize girl, if they still had these After Forever jackets. For a long time I thought they're too expensive but I liked it a lot and since I officially don't care, I wanted to have it. She had only one left and even had to ask Floor if she could sell it but I have it, so yay.
I'm at my parents' place right now and I don't even know if it was a good idea of coming here. I can get along very well with them, don't get me wrong but sometimes they're a bit too level headed. I mean, so am I but some things I just don't want to hear today or tomorrow or.. well, I don't know when.
And I fucking forgot my fucking cardreader! God damnit, I can't even edit the pictures till Thursday now!
So I just snatched a couple of DVD's from my brother's room who has a collection of copies. I'm going to watch Master and Commander, Kill Bill 2 and My Boss' Daughter... oh wait, let's skip the last one and replace it by The Italian Job, I don't think romantic comedies are a good idea right now :)
Hey, if anyone's in the neighbourhood today, let me know. I want to get out of the house for a bit (my parents are visiting my cousin who has her birthday), we could get something to drink or whatever.

My bag is almost packed and I'm sure I'll forget half of the things I want to bring. Thankfully I don't have to bring an enormous pile of clothes because my mother does have a washing machine (yes, really ;))... I finished the copies for After Forever, brought Anouk's CD who wants to have it signed, ehhh... what more?
I had good conversations with Jolijn and Jan when Sabine left, that calmed me a bit but I'm a bit anxious. Rayann will pick me up and we'll go to an After Forever concert in Venlo near my parents place (well, 30 minutes drive I think) and first we're going to drop my big bag and Pim at my parents'.
I shouldn't forget to take my cat with me :)
Oh, and Joachim's home again... he cut off his dreadlocks! Looks funny, Joachim with short hair O_o

Let's forget about the miserable things in life and name the positive things!
1) I went to Sander's place and he printed some Frozen Leaves flyers for me. 2) He also plastified a pass for me, my very own Frozen Leaves photo pass. Passes rule.
Oh, I didn't tell yet that he had his nipple pierced, right? Well, he did, at Lowlands (forgot to mention it in my report, bad, bad me) and I saw it happen. Yikes, but he said it didn't hurt. It's very cool :D
3) I printed the After Forever "Invisible Circles" drawing. Damn, stupid copy shop, I have to adjust the pictures (all six of them) but hey, I don't have anything to do in the train today so I can work on them.
4) I had breakfast/lunch (it's called Brunch, right?) with Sander and it was very good (despite the feeling that I have to puke right now but that's not positive, so forget about it).
*looks at the list* so what the hell am I complaining about :)

Yesterday I had a new record of visitors at Frozen Leaves, a total of 49 people... whoo!
I still need to print some flyers to hand out at concerts and stuff but that's going to be a bit impossible because my printer doesn't work.

We woke up around nine (well, most of us) and I decided not to take a shower because I think it's rediculous to pay 2 euros for a small cabine with almost cold water.
My legs hurt like hell, I think it was because of the running I did the day before... and the WT concert of course :)
So, we went to get breakfast which we ate/drank very slowly and around 11.30 we decided to go to the festival. Van Katoen would play at 12 but when we arrived, the world champion whistling was giving their concert, it was so much fun :) So I called Rayann to let him hear a bit, hehe.
Van Katoen ruled, it's the best concert on Sunday I've seen! They totally don't pay attention to anything or anyone. For example, Mojo, the organizor, has forbidden people to crowdsurf -> the singer himself dove into the public. After the song the organization whispered to him that he couldn't do that anymore, so he told us and the people from behind lifted an airbed and this airbed crowdsurfed forward :P People were lying on top of it, heheheh. I mean, surely it's no fun to have a leg in your neck, but I think crowdsurfing is something that can happen/occur during festivals and/or concerts. If you don't want to be bothered by it, then don't go to the front of the stage but stay on the sides or whatever -- don't complain (like the stupid girl during The Offspring).
Anyway! Of course the singer didn't listen; during the last song he again jumped in the public ;) After Van Katoen I went to the tent for a bit and then I went to see Flogging Molly. Around the same time Rayann called that he'd arrived as well.
I saw a couple of songs of Flogging Molly and then I left for Epica. Actually, I hadn't planned to see them but because there'd be a surprise, I wanted to be there. The sound was really bad and I had the feeling Simone was a bit off-tone a couple of times and of where I stood (left at the front of the stage) I could only hear the samples of the harddisc, the drums and the keyboard.. And they used snakes on stage.
A person said: "Who cares, snakes are deaf anyway." That pissed me off because a snake can feel a mouse walking on a great distance. I don't even want to imagine what the drum and bass beats will do to their feeling.
Personally, I'm against all animals on stage because they're simply more sensitive than we are... but oh well. We'll see what happens.
After Epica I'd planned to go to Papa Roach with Sander (Rayann already left very quickly) but I didn't really like the concert, so we went to see The White Stripes. We stayed there for about an hour with some friends of Sander and then we went back to the camping. I went to sleep around 11.30 and woke up at 7.30 but I was more tired than before, probably because of the running from the Saturday :/ My legs hurt like hell and they still do, but it's getting better. I barely could walk yesterday evening :/
Well, that's it! A memorable Lowlands :)

Lowlands Saturday |
[24th August 2004|13:23pm] |
I woke up at 7.30 because Sander arrived, and then I couldn't sleep anymore. So, I went to take a shower and had breakfast and all, but around 9.30 I felt so bad that I went to bed again and I slept for another two hours. There were a couple of bands that I wanted to see today: Bloodhound Gang, Velvet Revolver, Textures, Auf der Maur and Within Temptation (duh!).
Bloodhound Gang = Party. Damn, they were good, they even covered Outkast's song "Hey Ya" which was hilarious and much fun. Their light show was also awesome but I didn't take any pictures - the distance was too big.
Then, Velvet Revolver. Because most of the band members are previous Guns 'n Roses members, I wanted to see them but after two songs Sander and I left. The market this year was also really bad, very small and only Punk and Ska merchandize - no thanks.
We saw a tiny part of dEUS and then we went to switch Sander's wristbands because he'd received the wrong one (Go Mojo!), and when we arrived there Stephen and Ruud also arrived and even they had problems there, haha. That's not a good publicity, eh? :)
Anyway, we went back to see Textures and right before the end, Rik called Sander that he had to come to the backstage of the Grolsch tent after this band. I still had to get something from the tent for Sander so I ran back all the way... and from the camping back to the field. I was exhausted but still in time :)
We took some rest and I heard Mirelle was also coming. She'd arrive at 6.45, 15 minutes before Auf der Maur would start. She was a bit late so we missed 20 minutes of Auf Der Maur but... DAMN, she was good!! We had walked to the front to have nice places for WT, but I really liked her and her interaction with the public. I bought the CD afterwards and it's really, really good.
Some girls left after the concert and offered their places in front of the gate to us, thanks :) Then, the Within Temptation concert. Now, I've seen many concerts already but this one was simply fabulous!! The sound was great, the lightshow awesome, the public was superb, even far out of the tent... damn, and the show was great. They played a lot of new material already (Well... 'new' because I heard them for a couple of times already ;)) I loved the concert at Lowlands two years ago (You know, the one of which they made a DVD with my face in it *blush*) but this one was far, far better. Not because they played better but the atmosphere was great. The tent is a bit smaller, the sound of the Grolsch tent was way better than the Alpha this year and.. well, no and. Perfect.
So, we were jubilant afterwards when we left to the tent (after I bought my Auf der Maur CD) and there was the stupid girl who'd already declared that Within Temptation sucked (while wearing a Nightwish sweater. WT is NOT the one using the main voice on harddisc :P ) but Julia grabbed my arm and said not to react. Well, I got back to her later about her sweater and she didn't like the comments I made. She was a friend of one of the girls of our chatbox and therefore she'd placed her tent near ours, but after my comments I barely saw her anymore :P
Anyway, we went to bed around 1 I think after I brought Mirelle to the exit again. A great day with a great ending.

Well,
No further update yet about the festival, save some pictures. And besides the pictures: I updated a new layout for the site! Some may recognize the menu :P
Anyway, because of the massive number of codes for the menu, it became slow (still, yeah, but that's also because the server has problems a bit) and I even had JS errors which weren't there.
I'm too tired to check if there are any broken links or something so feel free to point them out if you want :)

I barely can move my legs anymore but I have to, because I have to work.
Lowlands was incredible again this year, though it started badly (because of my own fault).
I had to arrange a lot of things, packed everything already at Thursday and added the last bits on Friday. Had to give Sabine the spare key etc etc.... and then, off I went! The journey by train was horrible. There was something wrong with the track near Amersfoort so we were delayed with 10 minutes or so, and after Harderwijk somebody pulled the emergency break - thanks. In any way, two hours after my depart I arrived at Lowlands after noon. I could walk straight in... or wait, I couldn't. THe signs said: "Keep your ticket at the ready." I first didn't even acknowledge what it said but when it struck me I hated myself - I forgot my ticket, fuck.
So I called my brother who took my bags in, and went back... I had to. Three hours later I finally arrived WITH ticket this time, so the fun could start. I missed Novastar because of it but I was able to listen a couple of songs from the Hives... which were okay. Then I teamed up with my brother and a couple of other people from the gang, and left to eat. I did see a couple of songs from Keane but I didn't like them *that* much.
A lot of people wanted to go to the Offsrping so I tagged along, but during the concert I got so warm because of all the people pushing from behind. I mean, I really don't care when I get pushed around or something - if you think that's a problem you should stay in the far back of the tent :) But after 40 minutes I had enough and we left. Bas and Julia had also arrived by then and Julia and me went to see the Heideroosjes - party! :D They put up a great show and were very amusing :)
After the Heideroosjes we headed back to the tent and we waited for Sander to arrive, who had to work with Orphanage first. He arrived at the gates around 3 but the backstage office was already closed by then, and after an hour he called that it wasn't going to work. The office would open at 7 again so he had to come back later. I went to bed at 4.15 and Sander called me at 7.30 , that he'd arrived (I had asked him to). Very, very bad MOJO organisation. I mean, there are bands coming from all over the world. Had they booked an evening or a night flight, they could've waited as well because the office was closed.
I'll describe the Saturday and Sunday later on, I have to unpack and I have to babysit today as well. See you later!

Elis - Devils Temptation |

I sent an email to the History department with the question if I can start my study halfway the first semester or at the beginning of the second semester. I have some things to arrange and think about so I don't think I'll be able to start next week or within 2 weeks already.
I received my answer immediately ( I also informed about the classes and what I had to do and such ), and they forwarded my email to a study coordinator right away, now that's service!
I really like what I've read so far and the minors to fill the program with are also very interesting.

Aaand after a lot of hours of sorting pictures and editing, the After Forever @ Summer Darkness pictures are also online! As usual, at http://www.frozenleaves.com .
I'm thinking of redoing the layout... not that I don't like it or something but when I keep doing concerts in a speed like this, the dropdown menu will give errors... it already does that from time to time and not because of an error in the code but because it just doesn't load well (or it could just be the server that's acting up..)
I was thinking about using the Con Amore layout but then of course, in Frozen Leaves style, i.e. background, colors and the same way of placing pictures (though I might choose for a different way to show the Miscellaneous pictures). I will expand the code then, so that whenever you open a new menu, the previous one will close. It doesn't do that right now.. yet.
Hmm, we'll see. Gives me also the time and such to rewrite the pieces for the band which are rather sucky ;)

Too bad Tivoli's never heard of the word "Airconditioning", hehe.
Well, to be honest, I really didn't feel like going to Tivoli. I had to walk 20 minutes and it started to rain as well, I was cranky and felt lonely... I wanted to stay home but because I promised... so well, I went. I met Maroushka and Anouk and we ate fries (no, not French fries, Belgian fries! :)) before we went to Tivoli. Of course , the doors weren't open yet and opened eventually 15 minutes late.
Rayann had a problem with the security lady because she misunderstood him and thought he had a videocamera in his bag ;D
Anyway, Rayann, Monica and me went to the front to see Schandmaul and as always (well... the three times I've seen them currently) they were awesome. They obviously had fun on this far too small stage (I've only seen them at festivals before!) and the songs sounded great. There were some German Schandmaul fans as well right behind me and it was fun to go with the flow, they were very enthusiastic :)
After the concert I went to get something to drink and then I went to the front again to see In Extremo, but I had to leave because the world started to spin in front of my eyes (or maybe I started to spin) because of the warmth. In Extremo also played a very cool gig and I liked the singer, who tried to get the people at the balconies to move their hands XD Oh, and the singer has a body the way God has intended men to be, rowr XD I talked to Luuk for a bit, who was very tired but seemed to enjoy the concert, and after In Extremo Anouk, Marouscha, Martijn and me went to the front, left side this time becuase Anouk and Marouscha wanted to stand as closest to Bas as possible ;D
The gig was superb and they played Eccentric as well, the acoustic song from the new album! The entire gig was fabulous despite the heat on stage and in the public, which was reacting very well to all three bands.
I congratulated Sander after the gig because it was his birthday and after a while we left.
Overall, I think this year Summer Darkness had a better lineup on Sunday than last year :) The festival only exists for two years and there are a lot of things to improve but I like it that the Netherlands now also have a Gothic festival, so that the fans don't have to travel all the way to Germany or even further.
And now to the pictures... after the first round of deleting I have 150 pictures left.. joy ;)
