Whose husband has apparently been pestering her with a math problem I gave him a week ago.
The question: "You are on a gameshow. There is a prize behind one of three unmarked doors. You choose a door. Before you open it, the host opens another door, revealing it to be empty. He asks if you would like to switch to the remaining door. What are your odds if you switch?"
The answer isn't 50/50.
The only way you could lose if you switch is if the door you initially chose was the prize door. There is only a 1/3 chance of this occurring. Thus, there is a 1/3 chance of losing if you switch doors. Thus, there's a 2/3 chance of winning if you switch doors.
Another way of looking at:
Use a picture!
The star represents the prize. The numbers represent doors.
* 1 2 3
If you initially pick #1, one of the remaining doors is revealed to you, and should you switch, you'll lose.
If you initially pick #2, door #3 will be revealed to you, and when you switch to #1, you'll win.
If you initially pick #3, door #2 will be revealed to you, and when you switch to #1, you'll win.
Lose-win-win. The odds of winning are 2 out of 3. |

eric, your unconscious mind is driven most by Imagination
This means you have a deep desire to use innovative ideas to enhance your life and influence the world around you. This drive influences you far more than you may realize on a conscious level.
Your need to be innovative drives how you look at new opportunities and the kinds of experiences in life you choose to have. On an unconscious level, the reason you may be so driven by imagination is your fear of destruction, the opposite of creation. When you are unable to create due to restrictions imposed by your environment or even ones you unwittingly impose on yourself, do you feel trapped or confined? You may find these feelings of unease only get better when you find another outlet for your imagination.
With such a strong creative orientation, you are willing to entertain a broad spectrum of ideas at any given time. The world is a fuller, richer place because you can contribute new ideas to any experience. Your natural curiosity inspires those around you and encourages them to come up with ideas they wouldn't have thought of without your help. |

The Truth about Charlie |

Disclaimer: This is a minor spoiler... No real clues nor info on the "secrets" of the movie...
So, I saw The Truth About Charlie with my sister last night. For those of you not in the know, this movie is a remake of Hepburn's "Charades." It's a mystery complete with all the classic elements: a murder, several suspicious characters, missing diamonds, and a distraught wife thrown into the middle of it all.
It was a sunday evening, so we were really the only ones in the theatre. This allowed us to scream like Michael Santerellis constantly, because it made us feel better.
The writers of Truth really attempted to capture the feel of the original. The movie's target audience isn't our blase and desensitized youth. There's no sex, little violence, and none of the antagonists are evil, cruel, or callous at all. In fact, one of the antagonists shoves the main character Regina out of a way from a speeding car at one point.
It's basically a tale of whimsical espianage and romance.
BUT there's a lot of "miscellaneous" background crap in it that really made me scream.
Examples: There's a murderous old lady. There's a bar scene in which the entire cast is present, switching partners back and forth and sharing quaint chitchat. There's a secretary who, in the last few minutes of the movie, runs off chasing the man singing the soundtrack for the movie. There's an ambiguous woman with a mourning veil who keeps showing up for no good reason.
Overall, I liked it. And I went home wanting a mysterious Mark Wahlberg of my own. |

Ginny Hey (of Farscape) sent me an email about Sci Fi's cancellation of the show. She mentioned that USA might take it up. Hmmm.
Pilot has already been put away into a box. |

AaAAAAAAAaaAH
My workplace won't allow me to work through my lunch break. Not even if I still leave at the same time. They force me to take two fifteen minute paid breaks and a 30 minute unpaid break. FORCED ME. I almost got into trouble with their quality control people over it.
I'm better at this job than the instructor training me. Just let me goddamn WORK. |

Sunday: 8:00 |

People are stupid. I can't believe some of my favorite Sunday shows all air during the same timeslot now.
First off, Alias is on at 8:00. It always has been since it began.
Malcolm in the Middle is moving to that same timeslot.
Angel is moving BACK to that timeslot.
And that's the 10-spot here for Showtime's QAF.
Grrrr.
Well, Queer as Folk insults me as much as it entertains me, and I never truly liked it all that much (it was just time that John and I could sit and watch something together on the couch). So I probably won't even bother getting Showtime.
Malcolm in the Middle is now about everyone but Malcolm. Come on, when's the last time the story was told through his perspective? Gah. I like the rest of his family. But I liked him the most. That show can go.
Angel. Um... While it's never been as good as its origin, it was worth some amount of interest. But what the fuck is the whole thing with Cordelia? "We grant you the power to see the future to help this world, and these powers will ultimately allow you to leave it." Talk about inconsistently. Blah. And the whole inter-office romance thing just got dumb. If it improves, maybe I'll set my vcr to record it while I watch something else.
Alias, on the other hand, has kept me interested and impressed with its writers. And despite the fact that it airs with encore presentations, I think this show will dominate my Sunday viewing time. That is, assuming that the writers don't decide to make the show solely about her reporter friend, or have the CIA tell her that she's needed on another plane of existence instead, or has her righteously portraying the worst stereotypes of the homosexual culture. |

Got a job. 40 hours a week. Pays less than Substituting, but at least its regular. Enough money to move back into my new apartment. Despite the fact that DSL there would be astronomically cheaper there now with only one computer, I might not get it. Will switch to a month-to-month lease.
I'll be working Saturday through Wednesday. Wednesday nights will still be free for spending time with friends. (My usual day for such) YAYY!
Jakey is whining. He wants me to go play with him. I want to go, too. And to think, I'll have him back in four weeks! |

I feel very sick. There's a gland (salvitory?) that's engorged under my jaw, and I can't breathe at all without snoring. Eating is self-torture, as is drinking and burping.
I wonder if I have strep again?
I wonder if I got something from Jacob? He was very sick last time I saw him.
I wonder if I got it from Mom? She was very sick last time I saw her.
I wonder who else this sickness will pass on to?
I want a bath. |
