In other news, nothing sucks like complainers that swarm. If you see them starting to group, just run. Run before it's too late.

Random Trivia From girlgonewired |
[Jul. 19th, 2004|09:42 am] |
[ | The Mood O-Meter |
| | curious | ] | In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship and it was also before commercial fertilizer's invention so large shipments of manure were common. It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, it not only became heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane gas.
As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen. Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM! Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening. After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the term "Ship High In Transit" on them which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.
Thus evolved the term "S.H.I.T." (Ship High In Transport), which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.
Is this true? Or Bullshit?
O.o

That is JUST NOT RIGHT.
2: My very first Honest-To-Bob-Symphony with frabjousdave on Saturday, in a concert hall and all, was well chosen. It was the music from the Lord of The Rings Movies. I found the audience, the pomp and the music all enchanting. I really want to see the movies again now. Someone had a wooden Frodo doll she sat with her at the show. :)
3: All's Well That Ends Well at Volunteer Park: I liked the adaptation. There was some fun with umbrellas instead of swords, and the costuming was a 1940'd motif. The actors were almost all able to carry themselves in the open space, except when the occasional airplane drowned them out. I enjoyed it, but I will stand by an old position on one thing: Bertram is a total ass, and Helen could have done better. But hey, William wrote it, not me. :D
4: I, Robot was fun. Go see it. Will Smith is not miscast, I promise. :D
5: The Bite Of Seattle... bites this year. The whole idea of the festival is to have all the unique Seattle resturants come and serve inexpensive or free samples of their goodness. It ended up being just Fair Food, and all at meal sized portions. Bleh. Tasty nonetheless, but bleh.
Time for caffeine and work. I wish I'd had more chance to SLEEP this weekend as well...

Attack of the Sickies |
[Jul. 14th, 2004|11:11 am] |
[ | The Mood O-Meter |
| | sick | ] | By the time I left work yesterday, I felt awful. I'll spare you the details but very shortly thereafter I was made aware in technicolor something was amiss. I bought a tanker of Orange Juice (the worst tasting juice I have ever purchased but whatever) and went home. Checked, had a fever, laid down. The next time I tried to stand up my sinuses, brain and balance gave me a general issue fuck you. I decided laying down was much better.
This morning I still couldn't stand up without that extremely drunk feeling so I called work, took some drugs and went back to sleep. At about 10:30 all I had left was a little congestion and a headache, so here I am at work. I wish there wasn't so much to do right now or I'd still be sleeping.
I'm hoping this is Sick Express. I want to see I, Robot at midnight tommorow.

Ok, so basically you enter your secret crushes into a database so it tells people? Yeah, uh, I've seen this before. Remember way back when, that meme that you put in all this info about people on your friends list, and then they charged people to divulge your information?
Never trust a lemming.
However, everyone I put in KNOWS that I'm crazy about them so it don't matter. :D

[ | What is that racket? |
| | The Long Kiss Goodnight Soundtrack | ] | I strode into a salon and hesitatingly told them my specifications. My hair comes out of the ponytail and cascades red gold down my back to between my shoulders. I feel it's final, desperate insolence as he begins to wrestle it straight. Snip. My head felt lighter. Snip. I felt a little dread; he takes my glasses off as he works so after he begins I can't see the results until it's too late. Snip. I am lost in my "Is this a good idea?" reverie for a while and when I look down next after a flurry of more snips I see a pool of shimmer. My hair. My mother would have thrown a fit.
Next came the dye. The gold buried under brighter richer things. It stung my eyes while I read about a fae who hid her identity under glamor. Was I hiding, or coming out? Why the fuck was I getting so deep about dead cells on my head anyway? Time passed. The rinse, the conditioner, smaller, safer snips, then the blow dry which always seems to take forever.
Jean Grey will always be my totem X-Man, but the results of my hair is much more Rogue. The back is short, dark auburn which lengthens in layers towards the front where I have a bold white blond streak for bangs. Wish I had a camera, don't you?
After all my musings, it's hair. And it looks good.
