I just woke up. Brilliant.

There's no time better than holidays to do nothing. I mean, I've got stuff planned to do later in the holidays and all, but as for right now - I'm good. My official holiday plan starts with getting my apparation license, which should work out. Then I plan to do lots of popping around. That's about as detailed as my plans are right now. I'm sure Mum wants lots of help in the shop, and Dad'll be after me to help convince Jas to rejoin her soccer club, and Lachie'll be wanting me to turn stuff into frogs (especially Jas). Mum looked a bit uncertain when I told her that I'm allowed to do magic now. I don't know why, what does she think I've been learning for the past six years? Honestly.

First thing I'm going to do is clean my room. Are you shocked? Because I am. Seriously though, I don't know what Lachie's been getting up to - and I don't want to know either - but the room's a pigsty. It's disgusting. I don't mind a bit of mess, but yuk. I don't think he's cleaned since I've been home last, and I haven't been home since... YUK. That's disgusting. I reckon I'll need to have a chat with him about cleaning the bloody room in my absence. I can make wild pointy movements, that will be effective.

Can we all ignore the fact that I forgot my birthday? It's not that big a deal. It's just a day, I mean really, no different to any other. The parents remembered, and I got cake, so everything is fine. I also got this cool new paints set from Jas and Lachie, and a shiny pen from the Mum and Dad. They obviously don't know that I use shiny pens to copy shiny signatures. I don't plan on telling them.

Hope everyone else got in alright, and I'll see you over the holidays. Not all of you, obviously. Just the nice ones.

Oh right, and I didn't win at gobstones, but it's cool because Lynn Graves has some talent. Entwhistle, on the other hand, is a lucky hack.

I shouldn't be suggesting this, but try using your wand when talking to your brother about the room and making those motions. It usually works with James, Sirius, and Peter in our dorm, so it ought to be even more effective on someone younger without magic...

I'd already thought about that. I'll try without the wand, and if that doesn't work I'll reconsider my options. Wild pointy movements with wand should be effective.

... If they aren't effective, I can't imagine what would be, and I truly feel sorry for you...

No worries, it worked. The rooms spotless, even my half.

Oh good. If it gets bad again, you could try "training" him to do it by giving him a reward of some sort for doing it. But don't give it every time, just randomly, so that when you stop, or go back to school, he'll keep doing it. If you "condition" him like that (random reward) it supposed to work so that he keeps doing it after the rewards stop because he can't tell if they've stopped, or if it's just a random one where he doesn't get it, so it should last until you get home next summer.

(And yes, that was a cheap excuse to try and make a real life example with the "psychology" junk we learned in Muggle Studies. They had all these insane schemes and ways to manipulate people. So much for life without Imperio curses and such existing being fairer...)

Oh, Merlin, was it your birthday? Well, at least now I have an excuse to go out- I have to get you a present.

Hey, don't worry about not knowing. I didn't!

Glad to give you an excuse to run free through the streets of wherever. Oh, you're with Ginny, right? I might see you lot over the break, then.

That is really weird, there is no way I'd ever forget my birthday. No way.

Yeah, but she's been a bit... odd lately- do you know what's going on between her and Seamus? It's strange...

I'm special like that.

Sort of. You should probably talk about it with her.

Very special. Read insane.

She refuses to talk about it with me, and I don't want to push her and have a fight. Because that would be a really lame way to spend the holidays. I think I'll just live in blissful ignorance instead, then.

Thanks, so much.

Blissful ignorance is a valid lifestyle choice, I've always thought.

You're ever so welcome.

Very blissful, if ignorant.

Thanks! I've been told that I won't need it, but that was from a person whose never looked at my grades before.

I'm sure you'll do splendid. If Fred and George could do it, so can you.
