  Controller Criticizes Mayor Hahn's Leadership
Jul. 30, 2004 - LOS ANGELES (July 30, 2004) -- City Controller Laura Chick criticized the Mayor for failing to provide the leadership the city needs. She sent him a letter yesterday reminding of his responsibilities under the City Charter and later detailed some of her concerns about the Mayor to reporters. Earlier this year, Chick conducted an audit that was eventually expanded to several city agencies and has prompted federal and county grand juries to investigate the "pay-to-play" system many feel has come to exist in Los Angeles.
