What is it with the Swedish? Nice people, but put a few of them together in a band and fashion foolishness ensues. We all know about the Gert Johnnys, but now, via belle waring, we find The Top Ten Black Metal Pictures of All Time. Dear Lord.
I don't know what "Black Metal" is (other than that it is Swedish and metal), but it appears from these photos that it is something like Goth, only more risible. I'd also like to point out that the existance of "Black Metal" is further proof of the Poor Man's theory of Music, which states that the more sub-genres a particular type of music has, the more it sucks.
Oliver Willis looks at Regnery Publishing, which puts out "Unfit For Command", (the book about how John Kerry isn't a war hero it's just the Navy and the people who saw him fight who think so), and "In Defense of Internment" (the book about how the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII was a happy time for all involved with a picture of an Arab man on the cover but that doesn't mean anything), and their ties to white supremicists. Specifically, he cites a SPLC release about William Regnery II, "an heir to the Regnery publishing fortune who's a prime mover and shaker in white nationalism publishing".
Very creepy, but, I don't think this establishes an (if you will) operational relationship between Regnery Publishing and "white nationalism publishing". Regnery is run by Eagle Publishing, whose only apparent connection to the Regnery family is that Alfred Regnery is listed as an "External Director" and as President of Regnery Publishing. Other External Directors include assorted energy industry heavies, and, naturally, TV's Pat Sajak, who does Wheel of Fortune along with co-host Vanna White. Vanna White.
Nick Confessore did a piece on Eagle and Regnery and the anti-Clinton hysteria a while ago which is worth reading. Because they are just warming up on Kerry.
