Rittenhouse Rescue

Jim Cappozola, writer of The Rittenhouse Review, has fallen upon some really hard times and could use our help. If you've got any money you could throw his way I know it'd be extremely appreciated. He's a tenacious fighter for liberal causes and a good, worthwhile person. If you can, please give him a hand. Step on over to the Rittenhouse Review, look at the Paypal button on your left and click. The nice folks at Paypal will help you from there.

Nearing The End

Yo! Fundraising Drive! Buttons on the side! Little over an hour left! 10% to USO Cares!

Before you go see Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (for the second time, you lucky bastard), if you have the ability, the desire, the passion...donate to the site a little bit.

Pandagon.net: The pope saw us on DVD and said, "Jumpin' Criminey!" Then, he retired to his chambers to finish The DaVinci Code. We're that good. Two words. Fourteen letters.

By Popular Demand

We've had a couple of requests for an Amazon Honor System option during the pledge drive. Ask and ye shall receive, it's now up on your left. PayPal is better if you have the optio,n Amzaon charges a higher overhead, but will take anything. This is your chance to keep uo off the streets and win our everlasting gratitude. Give often, give generously.

On a serious note, we really do appreciate how deep people are digging. It's extremely heartening to know our commentary is valued so highly, and it does us both a lot of good since this site is run entirely in our spare time. Thank you all very much.

Props

Props to the Dean Campaign for being loyal readers of Pandagon. TOday they sent out an E-mail entitled "Support Our Troops", asking for donations for Any Soldier and Hero Miles. This clearly came from our idea to donate 10% of anything we raise on our pledge drive (PayPal on your left) to USO Cares. So props to the Dean campaign for supporting our troops in a substantive way, and props to Jesse and I for being good people. And props to all of you who donate to either cause. In fact, just props.

Fundraiser 3000

Okay.

This month has easily been our most popular ever, with over 125,000 visitors and 1.3 million hits. There has, however, been a downside to it - the main attraction (Twenty Most Annoying Conservatives) was thoroughly bandwidth-intensive. At the present point, we've had to undergo a blog-program switchover, some other maintenance stuff, and (this is the biggie) I've had to start buying additional bandwidth at $3.95 a gigabyte in order to keep the site going (and we're going through about 3/4 of a gig per day, although it's decreasing). Those of you who were around on Sunday saw what happened when I missed buying more.

So, Ezra and I talked it over. Then we visited Andrew Sullivan's site. And then we saw him link to this Dan Drezner article which ignores a wide body of anti-war critique from Democrats because conservatives also said it - and we know that if conservatives say anything, it automatically has more validity.

So, we decided to bite the bullet...and do a fundraising drive. The button is below, and it's the only time we'll do this...until next year(?).

A few notes: 10% of everything we receive will go to USO Cares to send care packages to soldiers in Iraq. Everything else that's not being used to take care of bandwidth issues will be split between me and Ezra. The drive itself will only go for 36 hours, until 8 P.M. tomorrow night, and then we'll take down the Paypal buttons. We'll also continue posting, so it's not like we're shutting down our unique brand of wit and wisdom for money's sake.

Have at it, folks.

Your Fault

If I fail my astronomy final, I'm blaming all of you. After all, how can I study with the rationalization that I have readers expecting content looming large in my mind? And if I fail this final, and my life goes down the tubes, Andrew Sullivan's begging ain't gonna be nothing compared to the guilt trips I'll be throwing down.

Just sayin'
