THEMECAMPS & ART INSTALLATIONS

Two unique and wonderful phenomena lie at the heart of Black Rock City - theme camps and art installations. These richly conceived projects are often the product of collaborative efforts between friends and neighbors working together to realize a common vision, thus stoking the interactive and creative fires of the Burning Man community.
Theme Camps
Theme Camp concepts represent a wide variety of ideas and activities, from the sublime to the ridiculous. They offer interactive experiences to the participants of Black Rock City, like applying for and receiving a BRC passport, posing for a portrait, getting or giving a foot massage (or a good spankin'), searching for a soul mate, bouncing on a trampoline, or getting a fashion makeover, a shampoo, or a custom shave. As you can see, the possibilities are virtually limitless. A Theme Camp is a special camping experience that usually involves coordination, patience, teamwork, and a sense of playful adventure. Art Installations
Our city is dotted with interactive art installations that invite participants to enter and experience them intimately, to touch, climb, and play, to think, contemplate, or sometimes just wonder "what on earth is this?" Burning Man art often relates to that year's particular theme, but not always. That's up to you, the artist. So come out and bring your creation - recruit your friends to help you conceive, construct and realize your vision on the playa.
