Securing equality and justice for North Carolina's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. |
ElectionsEquality NC PAC is actively involved in the electoral process at the state level, including races for the legislature, Governor, Council of State, and the judiciary. In the 2004 Primary, we have issued endorsements for state House and Senate candidates. We are also active in local races of statewide significance and work to elected openly gay candidates who meet our endorsement criteria. In addition to issuing endorsements, recommendations and warnings, Equality NC PAC makes strategic contributions to campaigns. Don't know which district you're in? About Our EndorsementsEvery election cycle, Equality NC PAC surveys candidates for state office to find out where they stand on issues that matter to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. This year we asked about the anti-LGBT state and federal constitutional amendments, non-discrimination for public and private employees, inclusive hate crime legislation, repeal of the Crime Against Nature law, safe schools, accurate sex education, funding for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, and hospital visitation rights. Our Board of Directors then examined the candidates’ responses to the questionnaires, past voting records, viability and other information to make the most informed decision possible. We believe it is important to call attention not only to candidates who are supportive of our goals, but those who work actively against us. Thus, we issue not only Endorsements and Recommendations, but Warnings as well. We hope you’ll take them into consideration when you vote in the primary election on July 20. Paid for by Equality North Carolina Political Action Committee. Not Authorized by the Candidates. Equality NC PAC |
