PRESS HERE

Welcome to the Burning Man Press Resource Center

The Press Here section of the Burning Man website is designed to help journalists prepare for the event. All media outlets must register with the organization prior to arriving on site. The media team is here to help, but the most important thing to remember is that you are a citizen of Black Rock City and are expected to comport yourself accordingly.

The absolute deadline for submitting film and video proposals is July 1. We allow a limited number of film crews on site each year. Requests are approached on a rolling basis, which means you’ll get a response to your request within a few weeks. The earlier you submit your proposal, the more likely you'll be approved. Waiting til the last minute isn't a good idea. Dozens of crews were turned down last year because they submitted their proposals after the cut off date.

The deadline for all other media outlets is August 5. Burning Man coordinators head to the desert about two weeks before the official start of the event. They are hard to reach (this is the desert) and any special requests will be extremely difficult to accommodate once we're on site. If you’re inquiring after the 5th of Aug we do want to hear from you, and will make every effort to accommodate your request. Registering ahead of time is vital to making your experience as a participant/reporter better, so please get in touch as soon as you begin to consider attendance.

Please keep in mind that Burning Man is a private event. Film and video crews will be required to sign use agreements which will be emailed to you once you have registered.

To register your team for Burning Man, read this Press Here section and then fill out the online questionnaire with information on who you're working for and your story angle. After we've received your proposal, one of our friendly Media Ho’s will be in touch with you via email.
