Bomp Records' acclaimed series dedicated to the preservation and documentation of the surviving unreleased tapes, demos, rehearsals and live shows of one of the great rock & roll bands of all time:

Latest Release!

Wild Love - BCD 4083

This album explores the creative process that gave birth to nearly all the Stooges albums. Starting with a jam session, an oldie or two, or maybe a blues riff, the songs gradually took shape and were refined from there. Here we find the Stooges in rehearsal, messing around with songs by Bo Diddley, Bob Dylan, Cream, and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. We hear the beginnings of songs that never went any further, like "Old King Live Forever", "I Come From Nowhere" or "Wild Love", which had as much potential as any of their best material. And we have some very impromptu jams such as "Move Ass Baby" and a fascinating James Williamson solo performance.

Much of this material has never been heard before, in any form, as it's been buried in unmarked tapes in the Bomp vaults. In addition, we've included a few songs that have been out on unauthorized European releases, but the versions here are either completely different, or noticeably better in quality.

1. Wild Love / 2. Pin Point Eyes / 3. Hey Baby / 4. I Come From Nowhere / 5. I'm So Glad / 6. Ballad of Hollis Brown / 7. Delta Blues Shuffle / 8. Old King Live Forever / 9. Look So Sweet / 10. Mellow Down Easy / 11. I'm a Man / 12. Move Ass Baby / 13. Til the End of the Night

RELEASE DATE: October, 2001

Michigan Palace 10/6/73 - BCD 4079 + BLP 4079

Never before released in the US, and never released at all, anywhere, from the original master tapes (which belong exclusively to Bomp), this is the Stooges' next-to-last appearance at Michigan Palace, which preceded the "Metallic K.O." concert, and has often been used in Europe as a "bonus" to make a double-CD. None of these CDs are fully legit, however, and none have been taken from anything but 4th-generation cassette dubs. Our original master tape has been cleaned up and given the highest possible quality. The cover photos were taken within a few weeks of the gig, which is about as authentic as it will get. Even fans who have heard this show before will find a noticeable difference in quality.

TRACKS INCLUDE: Raw Power / Head On / Gimme Danger / Search & Destroy / Heavy Liquid / Open Up and Bleed, plus several lengthy rants between songs

Double Danger - BCD 4076 + BLP 4076

The Iguana Chronicles returns with two of the last, and greatest, live recordings from their final tour: Latin Casino (Baltimore) from 11/73 and the Academy of Music (NYC) from 12/31/73. Both include rare tracks not normally featured in live recordings, and both are among the most vicious, and best-recorded performances preserved on tape. The CD is a double, with two complete live discs, while the LP is a combination of the best from both shows. Both with full liner notes and vintage photos.

California Bleeding -BCD 4069 + BLP 4069

More insanely rare live Stooges material from their final tour. This time a selection of the best from the band's five-day 1973 stint at the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles, plus a never-before-heard show from San Francisco in 1974. Unlike the various European releases, this album features never-released shows and drastically improved sound quality. We used the most advanced new computer techniques to bring out the sound and elminate noise. We also have two sets of liner notes, one of which includes some fabulous anecdotes of Iggy's Hollywood days, and a plethora of previously unpublished photos from the actual shows. The cover is a live shot from Rodney's English Disco, showing Iggy, knife in hand, blood oozing from multiple chest wounds. You'll want to buy the 12-inch release just to see all the gory details!

Year of the Iguana - BCD 4063

It seems that one of these days we might see the much anticipated Stooges reunion, to accompnay the plethora of reissues and remixes of old Stooges material still coming on the market. We all dream about it, the press constantly echoes a rumor which has been circulating for the few years. Will this year be the Year of the Iguana? While awaiting the answer, Bomp presents you a superb compilation designed to sample its widely acclaimed Iguana Chronicles series, documenting the different phases of the Stooges' all-too-brief career. Year of the Iguana has 11 tracks totalling more than 50 minutes of music, including tunes from the various Iguana Chronicles releases plus material previously unreleased, all specially remastered for this release. The album also includes stunning photos by Leni Sinclair as well as liner notes by music historian/agitator and Bomp mentor Greg Shaw.

Open Up and Bleed - BCD + BLP 4051

For the first time in one place, the complete collection of songs that would likely have made up the Stooges' 4th album. Drawn from rehearsals and live shows in the year following the release of Raw Power, this album exhibits the creative output of the band during their final days. Included are the CBS rehearsal tapes of 1973, live performances from the subsequent tour, as well as a previously unreleased alternate take of "Rubber Leg". The CD also includes liner notes by Stooges historian Frank Meyer, and cool artwork using photos drawn from the same time period.

Rough Power - BCD 4049

Ever since the Stooges' third album Raw Power, appeared, there has been some question about the contribution made by its producer, David Bowie. It seems that while waiting for Bowie to show up, various mixes of the album were done by Iggy himself. He played these for quite a few people, including over a local Detroit radio station. Fans ever since have speculated as to the sound the Stooges really wanted us to hear. In this album, we've assembled many of the varying mixes that have been in circulation, and included the radio broadcast in its entirety as well. Now we can all hear for ourselves and make up our own minds.

BLP 4049/10

A 10" collectors' edition of selections from the album, with a couple of alternate tracks.

Kill City - BCD 4042

The album that started it all. Brought to Bomp when no other label would take a chance on Iggy, Kill City opened the door to the wealth of other rare Stooges material that followed. It's also unique in Iggy's career, coming from a period following the breakup of the Stooges when his life was in disarray and his songs, as a result, expressed a personal angst never quite equalled again. TEMPORARILY OUT OF PRINT

BLP 4042/10

Same album, issued on a 10" collectors' edition featuring the original 1978 cover art. All the essential tracks are here, minus only the instrumentals that filled out the incomplete recording.

I'm Sick of You - BCD 113

In June, 1972 The Stooges were in London, where David Bowie was to produce their third album, Raw Power. Since Funhouse, the band had added James Williamson on lead guitar, pushing Ron Asheton to bass. Iggy and James, now the group's creative nucleus, were writing some truly savage new songs. The demos, including the three tracks collected here, as well as "I Got A Right" and "Gimme Some Skin" (which can be heard on I Got A Right, BCD139), were duly submitted--and rejected. "Tight Pants" survived to be rewritten as "Shake Appeal". But the other songs were consigned to obscurity, while the band went on to write a whole album's worth of new material, which eventually came out as Raw Power.Years later, the master tapes were acquired by Bomp and as a result, you are able to hear these historic recordings. As a bonus, we've added some live versions to show how Iggy has continued to use and adapt them throughout his career.

Track listing:
I'm Sick of You (demo) / Tight Pants (demo)/Scene of the Crime (demo) / Shake Appeal / Tight Pants (live San Diego, 1978) / Winners & Losers/Scene of the Crime (live New York, l986) / I'm Sick of You (live Cambridge, 1993) / Shake Appeal/Tight Pants (live Detroit, 1980) / I'm Sick of You (live Los Angeles, 1993)

BEP 113

The original 1977 release, still in print, of I'm Sick of You, Tight Pants, and Scene of the Crime, on 7-inch vinyl with the original picture sleeve.

Jesus Loves the Stooges - BCD 114 + BEP 114/10 (10")

At Christmas of 1977, two tracks from the forthcoming Kill City album were released as an advance promo, along with an untitled, gospel-tinged jam we called 'Jesus Loves the Stooges". What's different on this CD is that we've found previously unreleased mixes of "Johanna" and "Consolation Prizes" and remastered the whole thing to sound as good as possible. And what's more, we've enhanced the original 3-D cover and included 3D glasses so you can view the dead donkey (and Iggy's mug on the flipside) in all its glory.

Track listing: Consolation Prizes / Jesus Loves The Stooges / Johanna

I Got a Right - BCD 139

"I Got a Right" and "Gimme Some Skin", more outtakes from the original Raw Power demos, have since been acclaimed as some of the Stooges' best work. Here, taken from the original master tapes, you get five different takes and 7 different mixes of "I Got a Right", two mixes of 'Gimme Some Skin" and a bonus live track.

Note: Somehow in mastering, only one version of Take 4 made it onto the CD. Thus, though 10 tracks are listed, only 9 appear on record. Sorry for the confusion.

Track listing:
I Got a Right, Take 5 (final mix)
I Got a Right, Take 1
I Got a Right, Take 2
I Got a Right, Take 3 (instrumental, mono mix)
I Got a Right, Take 3 (instrumental, guitar solo)
I Got a Right, Take 4 (live vocal, Leslie)
I Got a Right, Take 4 (live vocal, more Leslie)
I Got a Right, live Paris 9/23/77
Gimme Some Skin (final mix)
Gimme Some Skin (outtake)
