I'm going swimming after work. Wheee. But my landlord left me a phone message instructing me to mow my lawn today or tomorrow, and I know it won't happen because I'm going to Stephanie's to gorge myself right after work tomorrow. The lawn can suck it.

At least a few times a day at work people ask me what day it is and I give them the right answer. So what, though. Yesterday as soon as I left work I went to the Y and didn't realize until the end when the instructor said, "Happy Tuesday!" that I wasn't in the usual class, only with a substitute who was really into free weights and balls and with a reduced class size. Oh, well. Being a dunce certainly didn't put me at a loss this time. I did a lot more strength training than usual, and I'm a little proud of my upper-body strength. I was worried that it would aggravate my neck/shoulders because I don't know a lot about proper form, but I feel better in that area.
I finally got my hands on Mad In America, and I'm going to start it tonight.
I get to see my mechanic tomorrow and I wonder if the magic will still rock me.
Last night my landlord gave me a piece of carrot cake, and whoever made it used marshmallow creme in the frosting. Gross. I can't wait to go camping this weekend.

I got a headache from drinking the Lacey tap water. I'm going to dump it out or I'll keep drinking it.
I forgot to take a lunch, too, and I'm really hungry, so I'm like 90% sure that I'm going to call Pho a few minutes before I get out of here so I can be immediately gratified after all my suffering.

The pool at my sister's apartment complex doesn't open until the 15th, a fact we've been lamenting ever since the weather turned nice. Last night while we were drinking vodka, we all independently observed from the bathroom window that they've lit up the pool all tempting-like. So before we knew it we were standing in swimsuits in front of the tall fence surrounding the whole pool area. It wouldn't be as simple as fucking with the burly lock on the gate or unlocking the sliding glass door from the recreation area. Our only choice was to climb the fence. So we did. To prove it I have the scrapes and owies and the lingering sense of embarrassment from being seen doing physically challenging things in a swimsuit.
Everyone tried to sort of put veto power over the whole thing in my hands by saying, "We're gonna get evicted and live at your house!"
I said, "You can live in the yard, you just can't come in the house very much."
Several times we had to "hide" from cars driving into the complex with their bright headlights, or people walking around. "Hiding" consisted of staying still in the pool, hiding behind one of the large potted plants, or, in my case, pretending to be dead on a chaise lounge. We also played some quick tackle basketball in swimsuits at some point.
It was fun, despite the humiliation of climbing that damn fence with people whose legs are so much longer and more graceful than mine.
So now we want to break into pools at other apartment complexes. Suggestions?
Also, I finally got my sister to agree to start a band with me next year, while we were talking about jazz songs we want to perform. She's always like, "I can't play anything," and I'm like, shut up, everyone in our family except dad can play anything.

New job will keep me busy for awhile as I learn all the different bits. I think sneaking internet will get easier once I have things down. My supervisor leaves two and a half hours before I do normally, see.
Saw Air Thursday night with my brother and sister. I definitely prefer Air live. It was delightful, despite seeming too short, probably because I'm used to seeing artists who have much bigger discographies in the first place.
M and I went to my grandparents' Lost Lake camping place yesterday, meeting up with my sister and her boyfriend, our uncle and the g-parents themselves. The weather has been so summery lately. I hope it stays a while. I foresee many good times going on out at the lake this summer. I'm not going to forget about that place like I have for so many years since childhood. You're invited, since I'm not keeping up with you via the friends page.

I did my hair so cool yesterday that I deemed it too rad for work. I hope it won't be too rad for my new job, because it would be sad to rule it out five days a week. On the other hand, it would retain its freshness longer that way. Looks like everything will be jim dandy after all.

I apologize to the neighborhood of Ballard for Friday night and assure everyone that I've decided to stop getting drunk for awhile.

DAVID BOWIE TONIGHT.
Yeah, I'll say "hello" to G_d for you.
I don't have to work tomorrow because one of my great-aunts died (over the weekend and my dad neglected to tell me until yesterday) and there's a funeral.
Anyway, I must get busy in order to leave ASAP.

I have a daydream of getting hired so fast someplace else that I'm totally out of reach while my former co-workers scratch their stupid heads over their own computer problems.
I'm going to my sister's to sample her artichoke dip now.

It's been a good day. It's all sunny and I think I had my best interview so far, although I don't seem to be any good at judging how well I do, and the lighting in the room was all natural--they had windows. That alone put me more at ease, knowing that my skin tone isn't getting fucked up under fluorescent lights.
I'm full of piss and vinegar and can't wait to work out after I'm done here.
current mood: yo, I can do that.

Last night while I was downing Jaegermeister at my sister's I decided to call home to check my voice mail. I got another job interview call from the school district, this time for the high school. I don't know about this one. I'm sure it would be ethnographically fascinating to observe the whole high school thing, on the one hand, but do I really want to be around them, among them, watching the flirtations transpire that lead to herpes transmissions through blow jobs and telling girls it's "inappropriate" when their thongs are hiked up to sit well above their pants? (Come to think of it, I would consider myself to be making a positive difference in the world if I could stop some impressionable girls from doing that.)
Also, the job lasts until the school year ends, but it pays better than any of my other current prospects.
Bottom line--I should do the interview for practice at the very least, and if offered the job I can take it if I feel daring, or use it to get a raise at this clinic, where most of our clients act like teenagers anyway.
current mood: hungover

9:36 am - passive aggression
|
I just walked by the dispensary technicians' office and heard one complaining to the other about the note I left him yesterday after I worked on cleaning up their computer. It was a copy of the company policies on computer use and how his violations have caused the machine to become as slow and unstable as it is. Funny because the person he was complaining to is the one who told me how badly the thing needed to be cleaned up.
We'll see if he manages to say a word to me. I have always been sooo scary to him.
(It figures. He can't handle discussion of anything remotely gynecological in nature, which we know because such discussion is necessary from time to time in a medical office. I'm like Maude Lebowski to him. Vagina.)
current mood: sinister

Man, I am pissed off today. I have 45 minutes left here before I'm off for my spree of appointments this afternoon. I'm not angry about the job interview except that getting ready for my stupid evaluation (writing four different evaluations for a four-credit class? What the fuck?) has kept me from mentally preparing for it. I have a bad feeling about the interview. Maybe because I'm wearing the same shirt I wore for the Friday one and I'll bet you one of the same administrators I met last time will be there again, and they'll think I only have one shirt and it's PINK.
Good luck to me. I'm done being dramatic now.

12:07 pm - "in these purgatory years"

Had my interview, which went pretty well. I liked the people. I'm not very concerned about whether I get it, because I'm pretty sure the pay is too crapola even for me. I'm not completely ruling it out, though, in any event.
Now I have to fax them a copy of my references.
