BURNING MAN RECEIVES 2-YEAR PERMIT FROM BLM
(posted 5/14/2004)
On May 13, 2004, the Bureau of Land Management granted Burning Man LLC a 2-year permit to hold the Burning Man event on the Black Rock Desert. This is an unprecedented move by the BLM who, for the past 14 years, have only issued single-year permits to the Burning Man Project.
"Burning Man has an excellent track record," said Dave Cooper of the BLM's Winnemucca field office. "This group teaches and practices leave no trace and other large events can learn a lot from it." Find out more.

BLM SITE INSPECTION PASSED
(posted 10/11/2003)
Another successful year! On October 10, 2003 Burning Man passed the Bureau of Land Management's site inspection of the Black Rock Desert where Black Rock City stood in 2003. Once again, Black Rock City proves its mettle as the city that disappears without a trace. Our thanks to everyone who packed it in, packed it out and left without a trace ... and our sincerest congratulations and gratitude to the DPW cleanup crew for striking the set and returning the desert to its pristine natural state!
