Economic Update: 144,000 Jobs Added in August, Unemployment Down Again
At the Convention this week, we talked about the land of opportunity created by President Bush’s pro-growth policies. That land of opportunity is thriving today: 144,000 jobs were created in the last month alone, and unemployment is down to 5.4%, the lowest since October 2001. Job growth for the previous two months was revised upwards significantly, by 59,000.
America has come through a lot these last three years, and now we’re surging back. In the next four years, our nation will continue to create jobs. Learn more about the President’s plan.
What’s Happening on Friday, September 3, 2004?
President Bush makes his first campaign stop since departing New York City with a Victory 2004 rally in Scranton, PA at 9:20 a.m. EDT. Later in the day, the President will attend rallies in Milwaukee, WI and Cedar Radids, IA.
Vice President Cheney attends a rally in Pendleton, OR.
Senator John McCain headlines a Victory rally in Hudson, NH.
Senator Elizabeth Dole rallies supporters in Bridgeton and Kansas City, MO.
Governor Bill Owens travels to Prescott, AZ to build support for the campaign.
The Balloons Dropped!
Balloon drops at political conventions can sometimes be stressful and unpredicatable. Not so at this convention. We're happy to report that this balloon drop went off without a hitch! The balloons dropped on time -- all of them.

What’s Happening on Thursday, September 2, 2004?
The Republican National Convention concludes with President Bush’s acceptance speech. Tonight, the President will share his vision for a safer world and a more hopeful America. Tune in at 10:00 p.m. EDT on any of the major cable or broadcast networks to watch the President’s speech.
Other speakers tonight include NFL Hall of Famer Lynn Swann, Olympic gold medalist Dorothy Hamill, and New York Governor George Pataki.
Today is also the third National Party for the President Day. Tonight, supporters all over America will gather at over 7,700 parties to watch the President’s speech live from New York. Host or attend a party in your neighborhood.
