The 'Forever Tall' mural on the wall of Dolphins Restaurant in the East Village is seen on July 23, 2004. The Cooper Union, which owns the building is planning to rent the wall for advertising. The mural, which was only supposed to remain up a year, was created through CityArts by the artists Hope Gangloff and Jason Search in 2001. (© Frances M. Roberts)

Three Years After 9/11, Most Americans Carrying on Normally

Most Americans report that they personally have not altered their lifestyles because of the 9/11 attacks three years ago. Americans are divided about equally in their perception of whether the country has been unalterably changed as a result. One thing that has seemed to change is fear of terrorism. While not as high as in the first few weeks after 9/11, Americans continue to worry more about the threat of terrorism than they did in the years before the attacks. Despite the failure to capture Osama bin Laden, Americans remain fairly confident that this will happen; the majority is also generally satisfied with the way the war on terrorism is going.
