Made food for first time since got back to uni. Was pasta, with tomato sauce type stuff and olives and cheese. Due to sheer yumminess, twas gone in under three minutes and I now have indigestion.

Had actually forgotten how nice pasta is. Haven given it up during summer due to feeling slightly ill at sight of it by end of last term as was what diet was consisting of in terms of Proper Meals.

Also now feel can make further Proper Meals and will no longer be existing on tea, pop tarts and stuff from the bakers. Can only assume flatmates noble efforts at Actual Food and feeding me with it have been what's keeping me alive. So yes, that's good, I think.

There's a lovely paragraph opener in this week's uni paper: "I'm not opposed to fun." Tis from person arguing Freshers' Week is over-rated. I wished to side with her, but when she writes sentences like that I shake my head sadly. Yes. Besides Freshers' Week is fun...just not if you're a fresher, in my case anyway as I was far too terrified to have any sort of fun. I think.

Currently there are four documents open. One hignfy fic, one DW, one...I have no idea, it may be B5, and one for writing my [info]ship_manifesto essay. There is slight problem here in that I do not have the TV movie with me and even if I did, is on video. Will probably buy it on DVD, but shall cry if they make me pay £20. Thus am rambling. But in sentences. Perhaps twill work.

Am supposed to be in tbe library photocopying articles.

I had proper seminars today. And now have extensive reading lists, each with their own exciting methods of getting hold of reading materials. For one, all the stuff is on-line. Hurrah! The second requires me to navigate the law school maze to find the box outside Professor's office what has all the documents in it for photocopying (suspect this year's photocopying costs will be great). And number three requires me to actually use library. Bugger.

Want VCR back. There is Doctor Who and Blakes 7 sitting on shelves in video format. Sister has still not realised that I pinched her DVD player when she forgot to take it to uni. Shall have to keep her clear of flat, and she seems to want to visit next weekend. And bring some sort of boyfriend attachment.

Am reading actual contemporary fiction book. About alternate universe type thing where Nazi Germany won that war. I applaud it for its originality and ability to make ever single character fit neatly into the good and the evil. And its moody ultra-masculine hero. Have written note to remind self why I stick to old books.

I would get tea, but the Twinings is finished. There is coffee (Fair Trade, yay!), but will require sleep shortly. Hrrm

ETA, again: "But I fancy you like mad..." Anne Robinson, to Colin Baker.

ETA: And Anne bloody charmed him into Singing. Eee! He sang! :D

Pride and Prejudice was utterly fantastic - am still in love with Mr Darcy. And the pretty dresses and the dancing. Though the sight of John Leslie sprawled over a chaise longue will haunt me for some time.

Sylvestor McCoy was rather brilliant though - I admit I was surprised - his Mr Bennet was full of character, and N, not having any bias in terms of him being the Doctor as she was entirely unaware of this, declared him the best thing in the production. He also rolled lots of r's, rather spectacularly, which amused.

So yes, I was muchly cheered, and such. And [info]trinalin, I did get a programme, so if you can e-mail me an address, I can send it off.

Splendid. And now, to bed.

Iconage
Ooh, something I never do. Make icons. But was insanely bored and [info]nerdcakes had linked to pretty screencaps o Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy, so, um, yes. They may amuse you for about, oh, five seconds...(and should any poor fool individual actually want to use em: want, take, have.

Iconage (6 to be precise) )

Have been having splendid time back at uni - today was spent on expedition to charity and second hand book shops. Am now proud owner of five Tanith Lee paperbacks.

Fresher's flu has arrived early for me this year, have a cold. And Beecham's so all is well. Hurrah!

Now if only I could hire a wee monkey to tidy my room...

Dear Lizbeth,

Next time you decide to pre-order a computer game you want rather a lot. Please check that the address you are having it sent to is where you are actually living. I want to play Sims 2, and it has been sent out by Amazon. Unfortunately it is currently several hundred miles away. I am somewhat perplexed.

Yours, containing annoyance,
Liz.

Things that have entertained me in last twenty minutes:

William Shatner is advertising Kellog's All Bran. I really do like the guy, he seems perfectly happy poking fun at himself.

Random comments from OG: (referring to a convention in Sydney): "At the same convention Colin Baker made it known that he didn't like Paul Darrow or Brian Blessed...and he mentioned how much of a pain Paul Darrow was, and how he was curled up in fright and clinging onto Colin when they both flew together."...I shouldn't laugh, I know. *curses lack of sensitivity*

Oh, and arguably Best Retort Ever on hignfy: "Just because I tell jokes doesn't mean that you can have politcal opinions." William Hague to Paul Merton. I think it's something in the delivery, and the way Paul just shuts up that make it so good.

Captain Quack Rubber Duck Quiz

Well, quite.

I have been dancing around with a shiny new sword all morning though. An epee, aluminium pistol grip. Mother is marginally disturbed, I think. Tis a very late birthday present, yes.

Have only had about three hours sleep. Which is good as I think it may have fixed my body clock, but bad as blah, feel icky n tired.

Am strangely amused that the Scottish Parliament wabsite is available is Scots. Have been amusing self by reading it out loud...which seems to give me a horribly parody of an Irish accent. Hrrm. Also I don't speak like that at all.

Which reminds me (incoming rant):

I do not know my clan. Nor do I care what my clan is. Or what yours is. Or understand your bizarre fascination with clans. They are Not Interesting, but a bizarre bit of history and a good reason that Scotland was a great deal more primitive than other European countries, cause we were too busy fighting amongst ourselves to actually bother about other countries...or the fact we were actually supposed to be one country. I have Irish ancestors...two sets of great great great grandparents who left cause o the potato famine. I do not find this fact interesting in the least. I do not understand why I should be excited about it. Now leave me alone and stop asking me about clans. *mad stare*

I feel much better now. :)

and now i feel: give me sleeeeep...
