5:10 pm - GTA: Vice City notes
|
-This game is every bit as addicting as GTA3. Something a lot of sequels (prequels) don't have.
-Apparently Donald Love got his start being an apprentice (read: personal bitch) for a real estate broker named Avery.
-Remember when Lazlow said "we're back again on Chatterbox with me, Lazlow, because I got kicked off the rock station? Well on this game he's the jock at the rock station.
-Q: What did Fernando do before starting Fernando's New Beginnings? A: DJ at Emotions-FM in Vice City. A station that played sap-crap rock ("Keep On Loving You," "missing You," "I Died In Your Arms," etc.)
-Almost all the songs on Fever 105 (the R&B; station) have been recently sampled by rap artists. You know they had to put the cut Will Smith sampled for Miami on there.
-The hip hop station is called WyldStyle, and being true to the 80's, it's a pirate station.
-Your character talks this time and actually says shit to the people who's cars he's taking ("You got insurance... don't worry.")
-The cars are a LOT easier to control. And you also don't have to go all over town looking for a nice one.
-The only thing I don't like is that we were lied to when they said the entire city would be open from the beginning. But at least you don't have to wait as long to open the other islands as you did in the last game.

Back when we were in high school, Nate's boy J dated this girl in Brookfield. He'd always come up to me like "I'm going to the mil this weekend." I'd be like "what part?" and he'd answer "Brookfield." That's when I had to educate him that Brookfield is a subrub, it's not part of the city. He'd come back with "well they consider it part of the city," and I'd had to tell him "but WE don't."
Which I figured for all intents and purposes was true. All of my city peoples had that same mentality. I think Ylayn said it best when people would go down to Gurnee Mills or Six Flags and act like they were going to Chicago, "I can't have people thinking some bootleg suburb is my town."
So this prompted me to post at cityofmilwaukee "Why do people say they're from Milwaukee when they stay 20 miles away?" I'm basically being told that I'm reading too deep into it and it's "just a proximity thing." But I look at it like you're not gonna have the same experiences, let alone the same mentality coming from the burbs as you will the actual city. Besides, if the proximity thing justifies it, if someone didn't know where Milwaukee was (you'd be surprised how many fools on the coasts don't know shit outside of Connecticut or Vegas, depending on which coast), am I allowed to say I'm from Chicago?
So am I reading too deep into it or is it the fact that the community is made up of mostly white people, subrubanites and the few who actually stay in the city moved from somewhere else to go to school?

9:28 pm - Breakin the law
|
I drove to, in and from Milwaukee today all by myself.
If that wasn't enough to make the jaw hit your floor, then you don't know that I don't have my liscence right now and I haven't been driving since the last time Michael Jordan played................ for North Carolina. Aight, it's only been 2 years, it just seems that long ago.
But I got to the housing meeting a lil late because Jeff aka Mr. "Don't worry about an alarm clock cause I'll be up on time to wake you up" was dead to the world when Marianne woke me up at 10:15. In other words, I had 15 minutes to get ready on top of having to do the speed limit the entire way down there.
So after filling out 18 pages of BS, I had to wait in a line rivaling the slowness of the DMV. The guy that took my app was cool though. He showed me every way possible to push my app through sooner and seemed like he really cared that I was in school. Anyone who's ever tried to get anything non-school related out of the government while in school knows what I'm talking about.
I stopped at school to switch programs, then Grand Ave for a few minutes. Turns out that Saz Burger place with the angry Chinese lady is gone... that quick. Coud care less.
But between the time it took me all that I made right in time for rush hour. It's always the non-driving sons of bitches from up north who don't understand that in the city, you can't go 10 below the speed limit and not get run over, cause accidents and cause slowdowns. The hell do they think those signs that say "Minimum Speed 45" are there for?
But I'm just glad to have gotten all that done with no static from the pigs...

-I think I'm a get a new LJ soon. Maybe that'll get me to make some damn posts.
-Need to see about being a Holliday cashier at Best Buy on Wednaesday. Would've gone today, but it's fuckin' snowing (yea, I said it). Aaron had to jet so I had no ride. Can't do it tomorrow cause I got that housing meeting in Milwaukee.
-Damn, too many nice jackets lately. Distant Replays got an old school Bucks joint that I remember from when I was a kid and I saw a few Outkast's I wouldn't mind having on eBay.
-Got the rest of the money Nate owed me. Too bad it's all going to pay off the plastic.
-GTA: Vice City is droppin' on the 29th, but I think I'll sell it on eBay. If I can just get a fraction per capita of what the PS2's got when they first dropped, I'll be a happy man. I can cop Smackdown 4 and wait til after X-mas for GTA.

I was 'bout to post that sex survey that's been going around, but then Lil Timmy's dumb arse wants to call just now to tell us that the police came to his crib looking for Blink. Why that shit couldn't wait until tomorrow morning? Ain't like we give a fuck about him, that's why we put his ass out...
Anyway, it's probably a good thing I didn't post that survey... I'd get 20 replies sayin' "Nick, you's a ho."

3:28 pm - FUCK FUCK FUCK BITCH FUCK FUCK
|
Just found out it'll be until August of next year that I'll finally get some housing. Now unless my aunt let's me stay with her, I'm fucked. I'm NOT trying to stay in GB for another 10 months.
Is catching ONE fuckin' break too much to ask? I didn't ask to be sent back up here from ATL without a pot to piss in and now everytime I make a stitch of progress something comes back to rip the whole damn seam.
Like I said... ONE BREAK. That's all I need...

12:29 am - Aight, enough with the damn survey's
|
Went to the hometown today. Moms had to drop out of her marathon at mile 11. Sad since that's usually where she gets her fastest time of the year. Turns out we (Me & Nikki) missed her by 2 minutes at the finish line and she left before we could go out to lunch.
We went to Grand Ave only to find out Jerry's Subs has been blown up to make way for a Subway. Stupid considering there's 2 Quizmo's either way up the street. We ate at some place called Saz Burger's and dealt with this bitch who didn't like anyone. Burger was good though.
Tried to cop some Air Force, but couldn't find any in decent colors between the 3 stores at 2 malls we went to. Got some fun dip at the candy store at Grand though. Need to go to that candy shop at Port Plaza tomorrow though. They got Squeeze Pops.
Got to Sheboygan and decided to stop in Oshkosh for the outlet stores. Took awhile to get there on the highways, especially when we got lost in Fond Du Lac. But at least we didn't have trouble finding someone to give us directions like I thought we would. Once we finally got to Osk, copped some $160 Vince Carter's for $60 (the neck-breakin' silver joints) and some presto's for moms cause I know she'll be feelin' bad tomorrow. I may try to cop those gold flightposites that were only $40 (another $160 shoe) once I get some damn money. I also saw some earrings and pants at the Polo store and a jacket at Wilson's that I want. Fugg it, my x-mas list is goin' out early this year. Got home at around 7 craving some Papa John's.
Random shit I found out this weekend: -Apparently, I'd look good in cornrows. -Apparently, Drakkar Noir smells good on me. -The forementioned cologne is one of Dale Earnhardt Jr's sponsors. -The VC's do NOT feel tight on your feet after 1 decent wear. -Baseball is much more exciting knowing the Yankee's won't win the World Series again. -Tom Glavine fell off something fierce. -Postseason jinxes be damned, they still fear Barry Bonds.

8:00 pm - F*** Eminem
|
Jeff & 'nem are watching a Eminem documentary on MTV.
Not to get off on a rant, but can somebody please explain why his 15 minutes aren't up yet? Three years later, the extent of his songs are still "I hate my mom and will do anything to exploit it," "I wanna kill my ex wife" and "the FCC and gay groups are tryin' to shut me down." But he's one of the most original artists in the hip hop world? Excuse my cynicism.
And how is this fool gonna try to be all in the black culture, yet chase the palest, blondest, most annorexic looking bitches he can find? I know some of y'all are thinking I'm comparing apples and oranges, but if his justification for doing hip hop is that he was around black folks all his life, why is he scurred of a lil chocolate?
Aight, aight, aight, so maybe I don't know for sure he's scared of black women, but it only makes sense since he's proven time and again that he's scared of black men. Howcome he won't dis anyone black who's criticized him (and no, Will Smith doesn't count)? Jermane Dupri you say? Listen to the lyrics of the song in question. Dre was the only one who said anything about JD on that track. Jermaine came back and said he's like Mickey Mouse cause he disses MMC members and no one takes him seriously. So why not dis Jermaine? Shoot, what ever happened to these feuds he was supposed to have with Canibus and Nelly after they criticized him? Fact is, he claims race doesn't matter, yet he only disses other white rappers, white entertainers who have nothing to do with hip hop, or in Will Smith's case, someone who would never dis him back. He is indeed, a hypocrite.
So we have the topics of his songs for years being in genres targeted to middle America , his unwillingness to do the IR thing and his being a bitch to criticize anyone black. Yo Em, it's not because you and Vanilla Ice are both caucasion, it's because you're both fake ass punks...

3:55 pm - ::shrug::
|
So I've gone another series without posting. Nothing too interesting, so I'm a shoot some bullets
-Went to Hooters for the WWF (stille refuse to call it WWE) pay per view. Decent matches, but fucked up endings. Ric Flair needs to retire or at least become a non-wrestler. Stop burying Book and don't even think of booking another PPV without Jeff Hardy or Rey Mysterio (hey, there's an interpromo for next month).
-Caught the game yesterday. All the injuries did nothing for my "Domes and turf are the devil" mentality. Nice to see they can win without Ahman, but it'll be much better to see him back next week.
-Saw Nate for the first time in forever on Saturday and then just now. He's still doing his thing. But now he's working at the Radisson.
-A little more than 3 months before I can get out of this God-forsaken town and finally be back home. Still haven't heard from the housing department. Should prob call them tomorrow, but I'm not looking forward to being on hold for 15+ minutes.
-Trying to finally rent a copy of Street Hoops. I've been on hype about playing it since I found out they had Run & Shoot on there.
-Ate at Tony Roma's with Nikki for the first time on Saturday. I think I have a new favorite restaurant. What sold me was the fact that it serves southern BBQ sauce. That's right, a stakehouse in GB that's never heard of A1, imagine that.
-Speaking of her birthday, her boy Craig needs a speech about nickle & dime'n her her gifts. I don't wanna hear shit about this Chicago trip either. It was on him to make that damn bet in the first place and if my broke ass found a way to get her dinner AND a decent gift, he ain't got an excuse.
-Need job... quick. Then when I finally do find somewhere that's hiring, they have to take 2 weeks to look over applications. If my sister wasn't such a bitch about her newfound "independence" (like she'd even have that damn house if it wasn't for moms), I'd have asked for my old job back at Eastbay by now. But since GB Metro seems to think we can get by on only one bus an hour, scheduling me would be damn near impossible now that I'm on the opposite side of town. And it's not even that big of a town. Hopefully if the Packer Pro Shop doesn't work, Superdome will.
