|
I was on the East Coast in DC last week for Jim and Beth's wedding and my sister's birthday. It was a wonderful time but it's good to be home now. I'll write more later if I feel like it.

8:53 am - Pain.
|
I popped my shoulder out of the socket on Friday night. I didn't know what happened because I had never done it before, so I tried to work it off, and just ended up screaming more than I already was. If this has never happened to you then you don't know the emense pain that comes from trying to move you arm more than 3 inches away from your body. At work it was suggested that I take a lot of pain killers. Too late. About noonish, I decided to slam my shoulder into a doorframe, because at least that might put the pain elsewhere in the body. and with a loud pop I had full mobility again. Still it hurts like hell, but hell ain't as bad as it was.

Goddamn Animeigo.
That's all I have to say.
I've been waiting for the KOR box set for 5 months.
5 months they've had my $250.
I get it today, after all the problems with the opening, know I will trade it in next year when they redo it again.
12 DVD's
12 Defective out of the box DVD's.
Goddamn Animeigo.

Stolen from Anime on DVD:
Editorial comment: (i.e. these are my personal comments on this, which probably should go in another article, but I'm practically seething here) With this series being among one of my all time favorites, as the KOR OVA's were what really got me into the cultural side of anime, this comes as nothing but an incredibly huge disappointment to me, both as a fan of the series and as a fan of AnimEigo. While the lack of openings in their proper place, something which we got on the laserdiscs and something that is fully considered a part of the show, is huge in and of itself, the absolute lack of word from AnimEigo on this prior to its release is, well, I'm at a loss. Disheartening? Shocking? Amazingly bad? I can honestly say, if I had known ahead of time, I would not have ordered the DVDs and instead just kept my laserdiscs.
Their motto on their opening sequence has always been something along the lines of anime your way, but this is far removed from my way, and apparently the way of many fans. Kimagure Orange Road has almost always been a cult fan show with some bubbling to the top of mainstream. The release of the laserdiscs and tapes a few years ago were the results of years of effort on part of the small number of fans who would commit to paying for it on a format that was dying. This appeasement to some supposed mainstream, or the dumbing down of the discs, whichever the case may be, is a stab in the back to the fans who have continually supported and pushed for this release. Honestly, removing the openings from playback? Every time its happened, people rail against it.
For those who don't care, as 'it's only an opening and it's in the credits section, so you can still see it', just keep remembering that until shows you love end up having something similar done, but to the content itself. Or until it happens to You're Under Arrest, something far more people are interested in than Orange Road.

I fuckin hate sunburn. We left Hollywood at 8 this morning. We got to Fontana by 9. it took almost 2 hours to get off the 10 and to the parking lot. Who the hell knew this many people went to NASCAR races. 110,000 is the rough number. Free tickets, Free passes to Miller's Free beer and food tent. 2 mullets. One hundred and Ten fucking thousand people and I only get to see 2 mullets.
Goddamn I hate sunburn. At least I'm not Casper white anymore. Lobster red would be more like it.
