"This is your life, are you who you want to be?"

Who I Want to Be: I want to be a Godly role model to others around me. I want to be a wife who reaches out to her husband, not only with the love that I have for him, but reach out to him with the love that God has for him too.I want to be a passionate, intriguing, forgiving, merciful, and beautiful. I want to amaze my husband. I want to be a mother who not only loves her children, but listens to them as well.I want to give disipline, but give it with love. I want my children to know that they have a safe haven in their parents arms. I want my children to know and love God. I want my family to know God, I want my sister and mother to know His love and i want to be able to openly share that with them. I want to be a novelist, who touches others with my story. I want to be a good friend, someone who people can come to for Godly advice,or just advice. I want to be a friend who is there in every way for the people who I love and care about. I want to be able to be more open about my feelings, I want to cry fewer tears. I want to be seen and heard. I want others to know how blessed I am by blessing them in return. I want friendship,love,understanding.....
I want so much, but I have what I need the most in God....and that is what I'll always be seeking,to better myself in Him.

Hey!

I have a friend who is having some trouble with the idea that is okay (and good) to pray for specific needs and desires as well as the idea that authority (over unclean things) is something we are given as children of God. I would really appreciate any verses that could be used to minister to them.

Have a blessed day!

on the topic of tithing [04 Apr 2005|12:30am]

i just wonder if all of you here tithe 10% of your income to your church. if you do, what would you say to those (mostly non-believers) who don't see a need to do this? i find it really difficult to explain to people about why i firmly believe that tithing is important because it is one the ways we demonstrate our faith, love and obedience to God.

today's sermon was about this:

Rev3:14-22
To the Church in Laodicea
14"To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. 15I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. 19Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. 20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. 21To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

more often than not we become too preoccupied with worldly things and even become obsessed with them that we forget about God. instead of offering our time for praying, reading the Bible, sharing the gospel and worshipping Him, we spend more time contemplating on petty things like looking good, getting a high paid job, finding ways to get rich, getting all our wants in life, etc. And if ever we get what we want we fail to remember that it is by God's grace that we were able to attain what we have.

it's sad how we tend to forget about Him when He never forgets about us. He loves us so much that he doesn't get tired of knocking on our closed hearts and minds for us to see the real deal. sometimes, we feel that He isolated us most especially when facing tough life situations. truth is, He never left us. these are the times when He is mostly there for us. strengthening us. whispering on our ears, telling us to have faith in Him. guiding us through and helping us overcome life's obstacles. problem is, we are the ones who isolate ourselves from Him and refuse to open our doors for what He offers us. His undying love. HIS LIFE.

John 3:16
16“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

if we are too busy and think that we dont have time for praying, reading the Bible, and worshipping the Lord, then find time. make time and offer it to Him. it's what we could do.

Jesus died for us, so why not offer our lives to Him?

What do you do that makes Holy Week (Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday) special for you? As an individual? With your family? With your church?

Hi Im new I just wanted to say howdy. And I was wondering what is the significance of going to chirch on a weekly basis. When I was younger I went at least once a week and I never knew why. I still dont really understand the reasoning behind it. If any one has any thoughts about this it could be really helpful. thanx.

Why Was Jesus Standing?  Part One of Two )

went to church with my bf this morning. today's palm sunday so the pastor's sermon was about this:

Luke 19

Zacchaeus the Tax Collector
1Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. 4So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.

7All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a ‘sinner.’ ”

8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

9Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

the pastor pointed out how important it is to have the zeal to seek God and His kingdom. Zacchaeus wasn't a good person. he was the head tax collector, a corrrupt one and for that he was loathed by many. he was wealthy in the eyes of men. but in the eyes of God he was poor. He was a short man, fattened by his sinful nature. but these didn't impede his curiosity to see who Jesus was. he knew that he was "great" and that he had everything one could possess. but he also knew that there was something missing in his life. and this made him incomplete. he knew he didn't have Jesus in his life. and because of that, he climbed a tree and made a fool of himself just to see who Jesus was regardless of what others say. he wasn't expecting anything, just the opportunity to finally see Jesus. just that. and because of that passion to seek the "LIFE" he never had, he was brought to salvation.

Christ Jesus didn't come to our world to sit with the righteous and to live a life of a king. He came here to be with us sinners so that He could save us from our transgressions. to cleanse us. He came here to save the lost and lead us to the right path.

all we have to do is to seek for Him. have the passion and determination to find redemption.

Matthew 7:7-8

7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

goodnight everyone!ü

Darfur Genocide [15 Mar 2005|11:13am]

hyperlatina
I know this doesn't have to do with Christianity DIRECTLY, but I think that as Christians, it's something we should all be aware of and acting against.

I'd urge you all to take action - it only takes about ONE MINUTE of your time.

Go to AFRICA ACTION to send a letter to both your senator and to President Bush about supporting the proposal for Darfur Accountability.

This is one of the SLOWEST moving attempts at eradicating genocide that I've seen, and it's not right. Action needs to come sooner.

I urge you all to take a minute of your time to express your sentiments to your congressmen and president.
