she used to let me cut her hair [31 Jul 2004|02:25am]
You've probably figured this out long ago if you read my journal, but here's my thought of the night:

I am too enamored with the little disappointments, and not nearly satisfied enough with the big accomplishments.

I gave it the old college try, but got a bit shot down for someone with tighter shirts and less brains and personality. Gotta do more sit-ups for sure. see you in a few months.

Tomorrow the new work day begins. I have the Low box set as the sound track.

My Echo Layla got fixed for FUCKING FREE. Multitracking is in the hizzy.

Welcome back to Athens. Leave me alone for 15 hours while I sleep.

One more night in London.

Had an amazing day with Michael, Joe, and Betsy. Indian food, Hyde Park. Best part was going to the Victoria & Albert museum and seeing the Shh... exhibit. Totally amazing and weird wandering around a museum wearing headphones and having some sort of tunnel vision.

ITEM: I'm going to be a semi-famous quantum chemist some day. You have been warned.

The Reading airlines is going down. We have at least two awesome shows left that can not and will not be missed.

I have about 12 hours when my plane lands at Hartsfield to be a romeo. hooray!

"The Crying of Lot 49" is pretty damn awesome too.

In London. Quantum chemistry up the wazoo. I've learned a lot and filled a page with ideas.

I got a fancy haircut. I like wearing fancy clothes now that I've finally figured out how to put a tie on by myself. You'd be surprised how helpless I am in regards to certain adult skills. No, actually you probably wouldn't. My boss said that I looked real sharp last night. wut wut!

I read "lolita" and it was one completely amazing book.

Lots of listening to Deerhoof before bed. That gets my dreams in the mood to listen to lectures for 9 hours straight.

I think "durdles" might be the lamest, most typically british temporary password on the face of the planet.

Be back in 4 days with a new English roommate. The boys got serious soccer jerseys, listens to Coldplay, has spiky short blond hair, and is a quantum chemist. Prepare to fall in love with him.

One of the crappy things about having a band name like "Reading" is that searching for information on our band on the internet is completely useless. Erm... even though the point is moot and our band has never gotten any press anyway! But even adding "gunn" and "borger" to the google search, I STILL get sites about hardcore bands from Reading, PA before *anything* about my band shows up. bleh!

I'm on my brother's computer in London, and it has "autofill on" where it tries to finish things you type. Here are the following subjects of emails my brother has had that begin with "hey":

hey
hey baby
hey big girl
hey Max!
hey mom
hey sailor!

London is awesome when you are shy, tired, have no friends lovers or family to hang out with, and have already done the "tourist thing".

So my health has improved... which makes me happy. Well... at the very least I DON'T wake up wondering why I've been cursed and when is the best time to take a month off of graduate school to have surgery and blah blah. so life is ok.

I'm going to England tomorrow, which is totally awesome. I might have to hang out in London by myself for 4 days though. Y'all know anyone in London that wants to hang?

We recorded "the 15 minute song" this weekend at Chris'. It's awesome. mp3 when i get back from london/cambridge.

I better get the damn Low box set before I leave tomorrow or I'm going to jump off a cliff.

I had "the talk" yesterday. It was unbearable. Why didn't I ask this girl out four months ago? She's moving away at the end of September, so there's no need to be unrealistic about expectations and whatnot. I meet someone who has a surreal amount of awesome qualities and she's about to skip town. I'm doomed to be alone.

worst year ever. [13 Jul 2004|01:42pm]
Life has been such a display of 180 degree turns these last two weeks. I just spent 15 minutes sitting on a bench outside of work trying not to throw up.

I'm completely lost at work. I always wish the last 10 percent was as good as the first 90.

I am facing some old demons that smell bad and almost have me bursting into tears on the phone with my mother as I tell her that I am not having a bad day, but I'm not having a great day either.

Someone actually comes to my house to lay around and listen to music and learn who I am. I don't want to go out... I don't even want to watch a movie, I just want to talk to you, nate.

Maybe next time this year I will look like post-car accident Vanilla Sky Tom Cruise.

we have nothing to fear, everything we need is in between our ears.

Cryptography [10 Jul 2004|12:37pm]
Today has been an ordinary awesome saturday morning.

We have adopted the Cinemecasa cat, Carl Sagan, for the couple of weeks that Andy and the boys are on tour. Jo jo and Euphie are besides themselves. At first they just sort of stood outside the doorway of whatever room he was in. THERE'S A MAN IN THE HOUSE! Neither of my cats have ever really been exposed to a domesticated animal of the opposite sex. This should be a trip.

I had a nice breakfast and more than 4 hours of sleep for the first night since Tuesday. I'm going to go to work and get a lot done, and we have a fun out of town visitor.

However, I might look back at today as being a turning point for the much worse.

I wish I didn't feel so stupid at work once in a while.
Last night I played poker with [info]lozo and Scott Beecher and co. Never played texas hold-em for money before. It was sweet, though i got my ass handed to me.
I'm going on a date tonight.
4th of July was spectaxular. Cinemecasa party ruled. People were in top form. Ran away when the "jamming" started though. Back to Deville for a little mortar launching with Sean Sawyer and company. Got to flee from the cops. Can't catch me coppers!!!
Maybe all of this work crap is a sign I should just be a teacher. Apparently the presentation I gave today had people saying good things. I am a good public speaker, sorta.

I insist that all of the adventures that keep happening to me the moment I walk into room 13 keep happening.

Though I will not hang Robert Gunn for fucking up the Pixies', and given the not 110% effort because of the absence of a crowd, the dudes still rocked it. I fed [info]thepaperface a cherry while he was playing bass.

Today I didn't get my ass out of bed until noon, AGAIN. wtf. I need two alarms or someone to come over and smack me in the face with a balloon in the morning.

Why have I let Mu "afro finger and gel" sit on my computer for so long without me listening to it from beginning to end? It's just about the most fucking weird and dance-y album I've ever heard! It might give wuog'ers cardiac arrest if they heard it at a dance party... oh wait, wuog'ers only dance to music they know.
