No Myth Here
Here are some of those 'lies' that say Kerry is weak on defense:
Kerry's Liberal Record on Defense(The citations for each point can be found on the source page).
- During his 20-year Senate career, John Kerry has voted to cut the Pentagon’s budget 38 times.1
- Kerry has voted 12 times against providing a pay increase to our military men and women.2
- In 2003, Kerry voted against providing $87 billion in funding for our troops in Iraq.3
- In 2002, Kerry voted six times against President Bush’s proposal to establish a Department of Homeland Security in the aftermath of 9/11.4
- In 1996, Kerry introduced legislation to cut the defense budget by $6.5 billion.5
- In 1995, Kerry voted to cut the defense budget by $34 billion.6
- In 1995, Kerry voted to cut the FBI’s budget by $80 million.7
- In 1994, one year after the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, Kerry proposed cutting the Intelligence budget by $7.5 billion.8
- In 1984, at the one of the most critical stages of the Cold War, John Kerry ran for the Senate on a platform of eliminating several of President Reagan’s weapons systems that proved critical to defeating the Soviet Union. Among these programs Kerry wanted to eliminate were: The MX Missile, B-1 Bomber, National Missile Defense System, Patriot Air Defense System, and the F-14 Fight Jets. 9

Picks for 2004 California Props
This is something I had intended to do about a month ago, but have procrastinated on long enough...especially considering that the election is next week.
Now, these are my opinion(s) on this propositions; they're what I'm thinking when I consider are these proposed changes good for me and/or good for California. Your opinion(s) might differ from mine and you might consider what I've written to be just chock-full-of-crap.
As the saying goes: 'Your mileage may vary'.

Team America: World Police
![Team America](http://library.vu.edu.pk/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/000100A/http/web.archive.org/web/20041026081827im_/http:/=2fmadmikey.mu.nu/archives/Team America.jpg)
I went to see Team America: World Police and laughed my butt off.
It's rated R for a reason so don't take your kids along. Or anyone that is easily offended by cussing cause there's a lot of it in this flick.
Ba-Da-Bing!
I got what I wanted for my birthday: Ann Coulter's new book and it came from my daughter.
I also got some flannel jammies, a remote control for the PlayStation 2, and some new shorts. (I know it might sound lame, but it's nice to get things that I don't have to buy).

'Stolen Honor'
It would appear that since the broadcast of the documentary 'Stolen Honor' by the Sinclair Broadcasting Corp is causing such a collection of wrinkled noses by the Kerry campaign, the producers of the film found a solution:
It's a low resolution, but it's still there. I'm watching it now and it's chilling.

Another Kerry Endorsement
Dispite some recent news, John Kerry has picked up another endorsement for his campaign:

UN Dragged in Sunlight, Burning Up Fast
This comes as no surprise:
U.N. hurt by scandal, Annan saysKofi, it's more like what little validity the United Nations possibly at one time commanded is bursting into flames and you're standing around discussing whether to roast weenies or marshmellows.U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said yesterday the world body's reputation had been damaged by a furor over its oil-for-food program in Iraq, as investigators released the fullest accounting to date of the scandal-plagued program.
Russian and French companies were the most active buyers and sellers under the program, according to figures released yesterday by an independent U.N. investigating panel headed by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker.
"There is no doubt that the constant campaign and discussions [over the scandal] have hurt the U.N.," said Mr. Annan, who was given a private briefing in New York by Mr. Volcker. "That's why we want to get to the bottom of it and clear it as quickly as possible. It has done damage, yes."
But that's okay in the eyes of some - there's a nuance to it that makes it all better....
No Rush What-So-Ever
I hate being kept waiting.
I had what I thought was enough time this morning to take care of something at the hospital, yet what should have been 35 minutes total turned into 90 minutes instead.
I had to get some blood drawn for an upcoming doctor's appointment and I had to get a flu shot.
The flu shot took almost no time, which is ironic cause I thought it would take a lot longer to be confirmed as needing a flu shot. Not the case here - in, jabbed, and out in 10 minutes.
Getting blood drawn took forever though. It would seem that all of the old people here in San Diego all needed bloodwork too and decided to do it this morning. I was waiting so long I actually dozed off in the lounge.
So....all this made me late for work. And I hate being late for work.
UPDATE: Now my arm frelling aches where they injected the vaccine. Crap.
Pinch Hitter
Stellar idea. Out-of-the-box thinking - the kind normally associated with bending spoons with your mind.
Gore to Stump for Kerry in FloridaFirst impression: the scene from M*A*S*H where Frank Burns gets a 40mm anti-aircraft gun installed at the hospital to deal with the menace of 5 O'clock Charley:As if the Florida recount of 2000 didn't loom large enough in the minds of voters and politicians, ABC News has learned that former Vice President Al Gore will campaign for Sen. John Kerry this weekend in Florida.
Kerry made the request of Gore, the 2000 Democratic presidential nominee, over the weekend in a telephone conversation, Democratic sources told ABC News.
Frank: 'He who controls the skies controls the war'. Herman Goering said that!I'm wondering if anyone at the Kerry campaign toyed with the idea of informing Kerry that Gore lost Florida......nah.Hawkeye: Great - we're taking lessons from the losers.
Al is going down Florida way to help explain the nuances of voting for Kerry instead of President Bush.

Late Anniversary Announcement
![USS Langley CV-1](http://library.vu.edu.pk/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/000100A/http/web.archive.org/web/20041026081827im_/http:/=2fmadmikey.mu.nu/archives/Langley.jpg)
Apparently, I missed the anniversary of the first plane launched from a carrier.
The first carrier take off occurred on the USS Langley on Oct 17, 1922.On October 17, 1922, a Vought biplane, piloted by Lieutenant V.C. Griffin, rumbled off the wooden flight deck of the USS LANGLEY (CV-1) at anchor in the York River. This was the first takeoff from a U.S. Navy carrier. The LANGLEY, was converted from the collier USS JUPITER at Norfolk Naval Shipyard into the Navy's first aircraft carrier. In October-November 1922, she launched, recovered and catapulted her first aircraft during initial operations in the Atlantic and Caribbean areas. Transferred to the Pacific in 1924, Langley was the platform from which Naval Aviators, guided by Captain Joseph M. Reeves, undertook the development of carrier operating techniques and tactics that were essential to victory in World War II. Though newer, larger and faster aircraft carriers arrived in the fleet in the later 1920s, the old "Covered Wagon" remained an operational carrier until October 1936, when she began conversion to a seaplane tender.
Reclassified AV-3 following completion of this work in early 1937, Langley was mainly employed in the Pacific for the rest of her days. She was sent to the Far East in 1939 and was still there when the Pacific War began in December 1941. Through the early months of the conflict, she supported seaplane patrols and provided aircraft transportation services. While carrying Army fighters to the Netherlands East Indies on 27 February 1942, Langley was attacked by Japanese aircraft. Hit by several bombs and disabled, she was scuttled by her escorting destroyers.

Say What!?
I love how this clown dismisses Gen. Tommy Franks knowledge:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The former commander of U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan on Tuesday disputed Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry's charge that the Bush administration let Osama bin Laden escape Afghanistan in 2001.Get in the way of facts?! He was the freaking COMMANDER of the military forces in the fight you stupid hack!"I was responsible for the operation at Tora Bora, and I can tell you that the senator's understanding of events doesn't square with reality," retired Army Gen. Tommy Franks wrote in a commentary published by The New York Times.
The Kerry campaign took issue with the retired general's comments. "Franks is a patriot. But in his attempt to campaign for President (George W.) Bush, he's letting political spin get in the way of the facts," said campaign spokeswoman Brooke Anderson.
Who are you gonna believe: someone being briefed with second- or third-hand information or the guy who was updated hourly and was 'in the know'?
That's the beauty of listening to Democrats: they never let little things like facts muddle their thinking....
Capitulation Works Really Well
Spain pulled its troops out of Iraq so as to not 'anger' the Muslim Islamofascists after the terrorist attack that killed close to 200 people and injured scores more.
That policy is having such good results....let's all become Capitulation Monkeys, huh??

What John Really Wants
Senator John Kerry is actually one of the 'Undead' wandering the Earth.
And he wants to eat your eternal soul.
Ho Hum Day
Nothing to blog about today - at least, nothing interesting in the news.
Spent the day getting rained on and walking all over the frelling campus all in an attempt to get a lab for Active Circuit Design finished.
Dispite dumping way too much time into it, we (my lab partners and I) apparently failed to perform some of the more obscure steps in designing an 2nd Order Active Filter. But we lucked out: we got a TA that was extremely 'cool' and blew off our omissions. We got 10 points out of 10 for this assignment.
Now I can ever-so-slightly relax....until I start cramming for a midterm that's coming up in the next week.
