About
Welcome to the Meg's scribblings. This is my life as it happens. Eventually, it's going to all end up a book.

About Me:
Well, I'm a 25 year old former debutante, medical school drop out currently getting ready to start a Masters at George Washington University in Public Health. My interests are like my journal, rambling.

Sayings:
I've learned that goodbyes will always hurt, pictues never replace having been there, memories good or bad will always bring tears, and words can never replace feelings.

A true friend is the one who knows the song in your heart and sings you the song when you're torn apart.

Dance like it hurts.
Love like you need money.
Work when people are watching.
-- Scott Adams

Sometimes you gotta create what you want to be a part of.
--Geri Weitzman

I always knew that looking back on tears would make me laugh, but I never knew that looking back on laughs would make me cry.

"I don't use drugs, my dreams are frightening enough."
-- M. C. Escher

"You're the best husband ever"
"No, I'm the best wife because I cook and clean"
-- Gwat and Meg

"What is that? Is that crack?"
"No, that's just pot."
"You know I have to ask these questions."
-- Meg and Gwat watch a movie

Wow....
So today I woke up with no voice. And I blew off both my classes.

Professor Boyd is letting me turn in my paper on Friday AM. It's finished, but I want to once over it again.

I'm hoping this isn't the flu. Vish thinks hers is. Not so much with the flu right now, ya' know?

Going to lay down now. Anyone spotting [info]sternel tell her she's got love in her email. Anyone else wanting to once over my paper let me know.

Depressing statistics....
3.5% of the high school population in the US uses heroin
8.7% of the same population uses crack

Now, I can understand pot, I can understand booze, but heroin and crack? What the hell?

The post of how I tolerate [info]sternel
Well she knows that I hate, love tolerate her very much. So here goes.

Why do I love [info]sternel? Yes, well I ask myself that every day. Mostly because I have decided that it’s my goal in life to make her come back to the kinder gentler fandom by driving her crazy. She's one of the snarkiest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. It's hard to believe that we met while mocking the fact that Epcot had instituted a short boat policy so we wouldn't frighten the "normies". And then I got the pleasure of watching her beat with [info]folk and [info]aegeus. Oh so jealous. Somehow we stayed friends, I think we are both scratching our heads on that one. But we've stayed friends, snarked each other silly, driven each other up a wall and yet we still get along. I love that I can debate politics with her one minute, lecture her on Catholicism the next and then torment her with Margaux. She and her family took me into their home on my first and only trip so far to NYC. She's even introduced me to her friends, the brave soul.

And now she's hooked me on a new crack. That evil witch.

I love you [info]sternel

Gratuitous post about [info]kiwiria
Why do I adore [info]kiwiria? Good question. I think it's because I adore her posts. Everything from her stories of New Zealand to living in Denmark and her participation in the "things to be thankful for challenge". I always know that her posts are insightful and well thought about. I love that she's, like me, a strong Christian who works hard to live her faith. She makes me smile and I know I can count on her posts to be interesting.

I am glad that we've ended up friends via LiveJournal.

Hmmm
How do I make this presentation less morbid? This is going to be interesting. But really, how do I make the tragic death of my boys less morbid and more, well, fun?

Yeah, I'm a little slower than everyone else. We already knew that...
Started by [info]tartanshell, the Christmas Wishlist

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a [...] icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My wishes )

Explain this to me
Why the hell is there a store for "second time around" used adult toys?

There are some things that should be bought new. Who sells them and who the hell is buying.

Ah St. Elmo.

Long days
So we survived Case Studies. It wasn't so bad. I like Dr. Critz. He makes it easy to understand. Came home afterwards after arranging a review session, maybe, with my classmates. Picked up the magical binders for me and Wright. Will-be isn't here this weekend so the back of the house is really quiet. Too quiet. Have been printing transcripts this evening. And screening the drug addicts.

Just so you know, here are some hints:
1. Don't call on a Friday night at 10:00 and expect to get through to my daddy.
2. Don't call if you have never seen my daddy and expect to get through.
3. Don't tell me you (or better yet, your husband/child/significant other/gerbil) is in pain and expect to get through.
4. If you can't pronounce our last name, you aren't really a patient. Go away.
5. Don't request specific medications. If you know what the drug is, chances are you don't need it.
6. If you know the exact time that the pharmacy closes, you don't need medications.
7. Calling repeatedly will not get you an answer. If he chooses to call you back, he will. Calling every 5 minutes will ensure he won't call.
8. We have caller ID for a reason. We do screen calls. Weekends belong to us. So if we don't pick up, don't keep calling. And blocking your number just makes us know to ignore it.
9. If you don't want to come in and get it treated, it's not that bad. Wait till Monday and take Advil.

That is all.

Off to screen the calls again.
