Attention Bands --
My name is Aly. I write Diary of a Rock Goddess for culturedose.net. I am now opening the floodgates for new cd review query submissions -- I accept for possible review any CD/EP/demo from any indie band. Location doesn't matter -- obviously, I can't come to review your show if you aren't local, but I have reviewed CDs and interviewed artists from all over Europe as well as all areas of America -- so don't let geography keep you from being included. I can't promise that I will review everything I receive, but I do promise to listen to everything -- and I tend to review, or at least mention, most of it, eventually in my column. If you want a feel for what I write, all my articles are archived on culturedose.
Check out www.culturedose.net -- you'll notice we review all kinds of music. My column tends to focus on indie rock and pop --- and my personal leanings have been usually towards britrock and synth-pop -- however, I am happy to give a listen to all genres, and have discovered some awesome stuff from all over the musical spectrum, so feel free to send it in. While there, sign up for the culturedose newsletter if you want, it is sent out every afternoon, with all of that day's reviews and features.
If you are interested in having something considered for review, you can email me at alyeditrix@aol.com or aly@culturedose.net -- also, even if you have nothing to have reviewed right now, please feel free to post your gigs or other band info for free on my message boards -- www.indierockgoddess.com/forums -- it's a great place for bands (and fans or street-teamers) to network and discover new music they aren't familiar with. You can also find me on MySpace at http://profiles.myspace.com/users/852223

Spiraling Video Premiere...only on MySpace! |
[27 Jul 2004|01:28pm] |
Hi friends, A lot of exciting news is going on for Spiraling right now, so if you are familiar with them (or not, and might want to be), take a sec to check them out... If you guys are fans of marquee acts such as OK Go, They Might Be Giants, Violent Femmes, and Rooney, you have probably already seen Spiraling -- they toured with all these bands in the last year or so. You also might have seen them in SXSW or CMJ. A full bio is available on their myspace page or www.spiraling.net
The band is releasing a new EP in a few weeks, entitled Challenging Stage, in a CD Launch Party at Starland Ballroom in NJ on August 15th. (If you are reading this, live nowhere near NJ and are wondering what this has to do with you, rest assured - Spiraling has played all over the nation recently, and are sure to again before you know it...in fact, if you dig them, your support can get them there faster!) For info on this party, the EP, and to listen to some Spiraling tracks, please check out their new MySpace profile and add them as a friend: http://www.myspace.com/spiraling MySpace will also be the only place you can catch their new music video, and hear an advance track from the new EP..so check it out ;)

NoMoreDolls -- Another Girl |
] |
Hi everyone!
Ever want to be the first of your friends to know about the latest, hottest band?
Now, here's your chance. NoMoreDolls, a indie-pop band which GQ Magazine has profiled as one of the 10 bands to watch in all of Europe, is coming to the NY area for one week only.
NoMoreDolls has a little bit of Alanis, a dash of the Cardigans, and a whole lot of European dance-pop appeal. They were called one of the top acts of 2003 by culturedose.net, profiled by womanrock.com, interviewed by Glamour. And their tour diaries are being published in GQ. See them while they can still be found in small local venues!
They are coming to the northeast for one week, and then it's back to Italy. For more info about the band, visit their website at _www.nomoredolls.com_ (http://www.nomoredolls.com) or check out their new myspace profile at _http://www.myspace.com/nomoredolls_ (http://www.myspace.com/nomoredolls) -- mp3s and press clippings and stuff are on their site.
Here are their show dates:
Sunday 7/18/04 -- Pianos -- NYC Monday 7/19/04 - Munchaba Lounge -- Levittown, NY Wednesday 7/21/04 -- Hamilton Street Cafe -- Bound Brook, NJ Thursday 7/22/04 -- Siberia -- NYC Friday 7/23/04 - Milcreek Tavern - Philadelpha, PA Saturday 7/24/04 - CBGB -- NYC
hope to see you soon!
xoxo aly

Bands featured in this week's column include Buddahead, Finespun, and Violet Nine.
Also, on culturedose this week, the indie rock goddess travels over to the indie film realm, and reviews Adored: Diary of a Porn Star.
Both articles are linkable from the indierockgoddess.com forums at www.indierockgoddess.com/forums
Diary of a Rock Goddess profiles/reviews/interviews/features indie bands worldwide. Whether it's a new CD coming out or live show, we want to be there -- and the indierockgoddess.com/forums are a great (free!) place for musicians (and music fans) to meet and network.

Ok so my last post in this community went over like a bag of lemons at a daycare...not very well.
But im determined to make this work...
MORRISSEY
1.Do you have his new album, You Are The Quarry?
2.What did you think about it?
3.How does it stand up against Maladjusted
4.Do you think Morrissey looks old on the cover?
5.If you had to get rid of all your Smiths albums or all your Morrissey albums which would you choose?
6.Johnny Marr, Has-been?
*ok discuss*
