What do people think of PSYCH 210? I hear its way overrated... SOC 271? I hear the only guy whos teaching it sucks... but is it really -that- bad? SISEA 241? ARCH 351? It says no freshmen in the notes... are they serious? Why no freshman? If I'm not allowed in ARCH 351, is ARCH 151 any good? Any suggestions for 3 unit classes?

Dear Pedro the Lion, Our names are Phi, Steph, Carla, and Nate. We bought tickets for the December 4th show at The Showbox in Seattle, WA on October thirtieth of this year, anticipating and being (EXTREMELY!!!) excited to see you guys in concert. We all came to see you perform at the Bite of Oregon earlier this summer in a kind of relay performance lineup, and we were excited to see a real, full show this winter. My name is Phi and I have just been informed that the show has been changed to twenty one and over, and seeing as how all of us are eighteen, we will not be able to attend. I'm pretty much heartbroken, as I was listening to Winners Never Quit this morning while walking to work at UW. I'm going to have to inform my three friends later today that there's no way we can get into the show. Alcohol ruins lives. We all would really like to attend though, but at this point it looks like we're helpless and it's hopeless. We only had our hearts set on going and seeing you guys. Seems our hearts are broken so easily, but that's because love comes easily to us "kids." Until next time, devoted, sad fans |

Thoughts on SOC 271 Introduction to the Sociology of Deviance and Social Control and SIS 123 Introduction to Globalization? Weis is teaching SOC 271 and Sparke is teaching SIS 123. Thanks! |

What is INFO 100 like? Is it more learning how to use things or learning how to make things? Does it have much homework? How do they test you? I'm not a technical person and I don't want a class that's really esoteric. I have no clue what it's really about but it sounds interesting. |

What can you guys tell me about this class? I was all for taking it (fits perfectly into my schedule), when I noticed it seems to be primarily group work. I don't do especially well in groups :/ Also, any Math 120 advice? I know I have to/am going to take it, just wondering what to expect. |

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19 SILENT Rally For Change: Iraq 1:20-3:00pm Red Square, University of Washington Campus Rally For Change is a new progressive student coalition of groups throughout the Seattle campuses. It is the formation of a student mobilization that will allow for avenues of communication within the progressive community and for students all through out the Seattle area to connect through progressive issues and events. Our first kick off event is this Friday, November 19th, at Red Square on the University of Washington Campus from 1:20-3. It will be a silent rally where students from any campus or anyone else from the community who is interested will gather to listen to various speakers from the Seattle area talk about the events in Iraq and what we can do as individuals and as groups to change the current course of action that is detrimental to social justice in our world. It will be a time for groups to begin to connect and there will be an open mic for student groups to talk about their organization and promote the work they are doing as well. "Rally For Change: Iraq" is the first in a series of rallies that will focus on specific inequalities and injustices that reign through out the world (racism, sexism, homophobia, globalization ... and so forth). Word of mouth is the only means to promote this event right now, so please forward this to anyone or any group you think would be interested. If you are interested in learning more about the rally or group please e-mail rally_for_change@yahoo.com. |

1. What if you could take music and culture back from corporations? 2. What if you could get Linux on every campus computer cluster? 3. What if you could make filesharing legal and pay musicians? For those interested in the open source movement and free distribution of files, among other things, consider starting a Free Culture group at UW. I'd do it myself if I hadn't moved to Tucson last week. http://www.freeculture.org/chapters/ |

Hey is anyone reading this English 284 in the 9:30 class that is willing to switch or have me hold their spot in something, I am a freshman and I really really really really want to take that class, but it seems to be mostly filled up with people just taking their VLPAs, so if there's anyone who will help I would appreciate it.

i am doing a project about what it's like to be a kabbalist. by a long shot, does anyone here practice kabbalah? or know about it or even have some founded opinions on it (maybe as an orthodox jew) and are willing to go through a short interview probably sometime next week or the week after? i will buy you a donut, or coffee or something. or does anyone know how to contact some jewish organiations on campus or around seattle? or are in one and can give me some contact information for the head of the organization? i'm trying to get into the database that lists the ones on campus, but it won't let me. pretty much any help is appreciated. you can email me at lok@u.washington.edu (which would be preferable) but you can comment here too. |

I'm not going to be going to my class on Thursday when we'll be watching a movie, but I need to write a paper on the movie. I was planning to just get it from the Media Center or from Scarecrow... but I didn't realize just how obscure the moviews are, so neither one has it. I know that if that's the case, I'm probably screwed, but I think this movie might be available on film only so I'm wondering if we have some kind of film library at UW and then a place that I can watch it? And ideas about this? And as a long shot, the movie's called "Rebellion in Patagoina," so if you have a copy or know where to get one, please, please let me know. |
