From the Mod: My name is Andrea and I have been a Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen Fan since they shared the role of Michelle Tanner on Full House. I adore them and enjoy everything they do. As the mod of this community I will be bringing my members all of the latest pictures and news about the twins. I will directly try to show everyone the joy that I see in the twins, and teach everyone what I know. I will do my best to update reguarly, and I promise, that I will treat all my members with the repect they deserve. ♥ Your Mod! About the Community: As you can tell this community is fairly new, but it is quickly growing and is a lot of fun. The members here are some of the greatest people on LJ, and have a lot of wonderful things to share. I encourage you to join, and share with us also. This community is mostly news/picture orienated, as that is what I post. But fans are also alloud to post pictures they like of the twins, graphics they have mdae of the twins, and anything Olsen Twins related!! Community Rules: 1. You must be an Olsen Fan to Join, if you don't like the Olsen twins, don't join. You are wasting your time and mine. Any obscene annoying posts that are clearly "anti-olsen," will be deleted. 2. No put-downs! Respect the other members, they have just as much right to be here are you do. If you do somthing totally obscene and start an awful fight, you will be suspended. 3 strikes, and you are out. I will kick you out. Permanatly. 3. Off-topic posts are alloud as long as they are not obscene, just please put "Off-topic" in the subject line, to let other members know. 4. Picture posting is alloud and encouraged. About the Olsen Twins (A Brief Biography by Andrea, Me!): On June 13, 1986 Dave and Jarnette Olsen rushed to the hospital expecting their 2nd child. They got a surprise. Jarnette gave birth to fraternal twins! They named their new girls, Ashley Fuller Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen. The Olsen family of 5 all lived together in an average sized home in Sherman Oaks, California. They led a normal life. Little did Dave and Jarnette know, but their new daughters were destined to be stars. A few monthes after the girls were born they won their first role completely by accident! A friend sent in pictures of the twin girls to a few producers because they knew Hollywood could use twins. The girls were called in for an audition and they won the role all because they didn't cry when the director and producer held them! The girls were to share the role of Michelle Tanner on the new family orienated sitcom Full House. At first the girls shared the role equally. You could only keep a baby under hot lights for so long before you needed to bring in another baby to continue filming. But by the 3rd season the Full House director, Joel Zwick, saw a distinct difference in the girls personalities. Mary-Kate Olsen became the more lively twin, she was used in the scenes that required a more active Michelle. Ashley was used in scenes that required a more calm, emotional, quiet, dramatic, Michelle. After a few seasons the producers began considering one girl for the part of Michelle Tanner as it was extremely odd to have one role be shared by two children. The producers decided to keep the Olsen girls though, because they were one of the main attractions of the show. At first people thought it was odd to see a child raised on television. Mary-Kate and Ashley literally took their first steps and said their first words on the full house stage!! But soon people grew to love the Olsens and feel as if they themselves knew them. As Full House's ratings climbed the girls popularity also grew. Their father, Dave Olsen, saw this and decided to seek professional help with his daughters' careers. He than hired an attorney. Robert Thorne then came into their life. He soon had the twins making $25,000 an episode. In 1992 the girls made the made for T.V. movie "To Grandmothers House We Go". This was their first experience in seperate rolls. It made the Nielson's List of Top Ten. After this Robert Thorn saw a great oppertunity to make money using the girls growing popularity. He had the girls move into the music industry. In 1992, at the age of 5, the girls recorded their first album "Brother for Sale." It sold 325 million copies. Later in life Mary-Kate was quoted during an interview saying "It was seriously the longest thing I've ever done in my life!" After the success of their first album the girls came out with another made for T.V. movie in 1993, "Double, Double, Toil, and Trouble!" This movie was another huge hit!! The girls went on to make "How the West was Fun!" in 1994 also. After that the girls hit the big screen with small cameo roles in "The Little Rascals" in 1994. Robert Thorne hit gold in 1994 when he came across the girls biggest money maker by far. Straight to Video Movies! The girls first straight to video movie experience was with The Adventures Series. The video and book series "The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley" came out in 1994. Robert Thorne's next big idea for the girls was their own company. Robert Thorne then created "Dualstar Entertainment." At the age of 6, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen became the youngest producers in the history of the united states. In 1995 Full House was canceled. After airing nine seasons the show had become to pricey to produce and the plug was pulled very suddenly. This was Mary-Kate and Ashley's first big let down, but not their last. In that same year parents Dave and Jarnette Olsen divorced. After being divorced for quite some time their father remarried to his co-worker Mackenzie in 1996. Fortuately Mary-Kate and Ashley got along with her. Recently they had two children, Taylor, a new halfsister, and Jake, a new halfbrother. Also in 1996 Mary-Kate and Ashley filmed their first feature film "It Takes Two." The movie starred Kirstie Alley and Steve Guttenburg. It was a big hit! But Robert Thorne had other plans for Mary-Kate and Ashley. With the Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley getting old Robert Thorne invented a new type of straight to video movie. The "You're Invited To..." series. Begining with Mary-Kate & Ashley's Sleepover Party and ending with their School Dance Party in 2000, these movies were also a VERY big hit. In 1998 Mary-Kate and Ashley came out with their first straight to video movie that was completely septerate from their "You're Invited To..." and "Adventures of..." series. This movie was called "Billboard Dad" and it was also a huge hit and big seller. Also that year the twins went on to star in their second sitcom. The twins stared in ABC's Two of a Kind for one season before the show was cancled. The show's cancling came as a shock to everyone because the show was getting excellent feedback. People began to wonder if Mary-Kate and Ashley were has-beens at the age of 12. But the Olsen Twins could not be stopped. They had a lot going for them even outside of the acting world. Their merchandise was a huge seller, almost as big as Disney merchandise! In 1999, after Two of a Kind was cancled, Mary-Kate and Ashley released two new hit videos, "Passport to Paris," and "Switching Goals." These videos were their biggest sellers yet! The girls were now growing up, and for once their videos began to reflect that. In "Passport to Paris" the twins both got their first on-screen kisses. These would be the first of many! Mary-Kate and Ashley now began to pull in a different audience, Tweens. These were girls who were too old for toys but too young for boys. The Olsens were entering a market place yet to be dominated. They had a monopoly! In 2000 Mary-Kate and Ashley released another hit video "Our Lips Our Sealed." They also finished off their "You're Invited To.." series, and their musical careers. Another big career move the Olsen Twins made that year was with merchandising. They turned themselves into Barbie Dolls! At the age at 14, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were litterally immortal!! With many different kinds of these dolls, and always two of each, they were the Olsen's 2nd biggest money maker, next to their videos. The last thing the Olsen Twins did that year was move into the video game industry. Although their video games weren't hugely popular, they still gave young "girl gamers" somthing to play! At the age of 14, in 2001, Mary-Kate and Ashley wrote and created their own sitcom. "So Little Time" began airing on ABC Family that year. At first reviews were mixed, but "So Little Time" soon found a loyal audience. Mary-Kate and Ashley had hit the jackpot! Their new TV show was a hit. The girls had fun too. They were older now and could have more fun and be more creative with their characters! The girls were very busy with "So Little Time" but they still found time to squeeze in the creation of their own fashion line!! Mary-Kate and Ashley had always been extremely fashionable young ladies and after numerous questions about where they got their clothing they went ahead with a clothing line. Teaming up with Walmart, the Mary-Kate & Ashley Brand was released in 2002. Another Hollywood hit the girls made the year of 2001 was their hit movie "Winning London." Shortly after "Winning London" was released, so was another straight to video movie "Holiday in the Sun." Later that year Mary-Kate and Ashley tried their luck with somthing comletely new. Animation!! That year "Mary-Kate & Ashley In Action!" was released. The girls experienced no succes there. The show was a complete failure. Mary-Kate and Ashley had no need to worry though. That same year they were informed that although they had always been known as equals Mary-Kate was being recognized. Mary-Kate was honored with a 2002 daytime Emmy nod for "So Little Time". She did not win, but it was still quite an honor. Later, the girls pulled the plug on "So Little Time." They claimed that they wanted more time just to be girls which was quite understandable beause these girls were super busy young ladies. It was amazing that they still found time for friends, school (which they always attended!), and of course boys! In 2002 the Mary-Kate & Ashley Brand was released through Walmart. The girls had imidiate access to thousands of customers! In addition to teaming up with Walmart the girls created somthing called Fashion Forward. This was a series of fashion shows across the globe in which real girls would model their clothes. It was a huge success. The girls made millions in clothing sales alone. That same year the Olsens released straight to video movie's "When in Rome," and "Getting There." In 2002 Mary-Kate Olsen, and Ashley Fuller Olsen also celebrated their 16th birthday on June 13th. They made their first major purchase of their life. They bought matching black range rovers! The girls would drive their cherished cars everywhere until 2003 when Mary-Kate was involved in her first auto-accident. In 2003 Mary-Kate and Ashley began their busiest year yet!! They began the year by releasing "The Challenge," a made for TV movie on ABC. Next they appeared in a cameo role in Charlie's Angel's 2: Full Throttle. After that the girls filmed their second ever big screen movie "New York Minute" on location in Toronto and New York City. After all that buisiness the our lives." The twins were very bust promoting New York Minute and themselves that year, knowing they would be turning 18 in June of 2004. Although the girls loved traveling to promote their movie they hated all the negative publicity. Drug rumors, and eating disorder rumors haunted the girls. The girls told magazines that "we have no problems." But people sensed they were hiding somthing. 2004 was another busy year for the twins. Between "New York Minute", Senior Year, Graduation, and getting ready for New York University one of the twins lost themselves. Mary-Kate Olsen began losing weight mid-way through 2003, and she continued to let her weight plummet until at last in June of 2004 when she entered an eating disorder treatment facility. She was released a little over 6 weeks later. Now both Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen reside in New York City. Mary-Kate lives alone while Ashley has moved in with her boyfriend Scott Saratino. Mary-Kate is a single girl now, but often goes out to parties and clubs. The girls took full control of their company "Dualstar" in January of 2005 and they now manage "DualStar" out of it's New York Office. Both girls attend New York University's Gallant School. Mary-Kate has an internship with a photographer, and Ashley is taking acting lessons. While Paparazzi still stalks the girls, and negative media still looms Micheal Pagnotta, the girl's publicist, insists the girls are doing well. Mary-Kate continues to seek treatment and Ashley is receiving lots of job offers. As for the future, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen may have just bought it!!
