hope [28 Apr 2004|05:37pm] [ mood | awake ] [ music | "Dirty Man" | Joss Stone ] i am in the process of putting together a press kit type thing to give hanson when i meet them again(crosses fingers) and i need feedback on the songs i picked. i'm left with jump-starting my self-taught piano lessons so i can have music. this cast on my arm is not fun to have when you are going through guitar withdrawl. it is impossible to play so i'm putting piano to all the songs and recording them myself. here are two that are definite yes's for the tape. ( Live With The Stars ) is titled with "Amazing Grace" for now since the melody is loosely based on that song's music and I even sing a bit of "Amazing Grace" in the beginning. This song is up for the first slot on the tape. ( Bleed Me Dry ) is darker and really a favourite of mine and possibly a closer. I have a first song and last song, just need some in the middle, ha. oh shit i live [18 Dec 2003|06:49pm] [ mood | awake ] [ music | "Space" | Something Corporate ] Ah I swear I'm still alive! A lot has been going on lately so yeah. I turned 18 on the 7th, got my eyebrow pierced. I was MIA for a few weeks in October when I was admitted to an Adolesent Pych place for trying to overdose :-/ I'm doing a whole lot better now, and I'm an thankful. Senior year is going great, I am slacking in true Interboro fashion and still passing easily. :-P I'm still taking a year off after graduation to work on my music. Right now it's getting harder to find time to write and stuff with everything going on. I did start writing a flute part to "Angel(Faith In Me)" for Cheri. I thought a flute part would sound amazing with that song. I'm also working with the piano on some of my songs, too. Off to finish straighting my hair! raven =) 5 lovers|break my heart

I'm starting to demo songs I want for an independent CD, and it's coming along nicely. I have the piano for one song called "Close To You" that's a real pretty, ballad-like, all piano song. I'm really excited for all of this. I can't stop writing and writing, it's amazing. Of course, Steve keeps yelling at me to stop and pick the songs I want for the CD, lol. Whenever I have all the songs I want, I write another one that I like better and switch it around. Gotta stop that lol We need to start copywrighting my songs, which will cost us money. I have a new job now, but I'm still kinda tight with my money. We also need to register and copywright the management company's name. Oy. Woo! [12 Jun 2003|01:38pm] [ mood | awake ] [ music | "You and I Both" - Jason Mraz <3 ] Well, I'm alive :) I finished the tape for my dad for Father's Day, I am quite proud of it. I recorded Barely Seventeen, Break My Heart, Shadow and a cover of Goodbye To You(in honour of the meeting of my idol). I can't wait to give it to him, I really can't. My dad has been such a huge supporter of my career since the beginning. He was the one who sugggested I take voice classes and send in all the audition packages. I love him so much, and I want him to hear what I can do. I know he is proud of me no matter what, but I want him to see how badly I want this. I'm going to copy the tape and ask Chrissy to record the songs onto her computer so I will have some mp3's for you :-* I didn't make the Philly Sunoco Welcome America "It's A Wrap!" contest, but that's OK. I'm just glad I entered and was at least a semi-finalist. I haven't heard from the Pantene Pro-Voice, but that will probably take longer seeing as it's country-wide. I still have my fingers crossed :) Steve is starting up a street team, so keep checking the site out for updates and such. Now that it's summer, I will be able to work more and more on the new songs. I'm starting to get some piano to a few songs, which rocks. I have this all piano ballad I'm working hard on, it's so pretty. As soon as the new site is up, I'll be sure to let ya'll know. I've been really busy lately with school and such, but I've managed to get some songs together. I also aquired a new guitar :) Well, new to me. It's an old blue Ibanez electric/acoustic of my brother's. It's got a strange feedback-y sound when it's plugged in, but I'll deal. In a phase after yet another Starbucs [06 Feb 2003|03:36pm] [ mood | annoyed ] [ music | "Just That Good"//The Calling ] Why is it so goshdarned hard to find The Calling tabs anywhere, blah! I really want to learn "We're Forgiven" and "Stigmatized"...anyone have them? Anyway, last night went...good. I was really extremely nervous, more than ever before and I don't know why. I think it was a varity of emotions running through me at one time. I had so many awesome people there to support me, including (*gasp*) my mom. I told her to come, and she did. Like it did any good. I sang the song I wrote about her and she didn't even take any of it to heart. It hurt, it really did. I really didn't need any more hurt right then. Moving on, it was not my best, at least I don't think. I had so many other things in my head while I was playing. And that, my friends, was my wonderful night at IHS. Hopefully I'll have some good news soon. I recorded 3 demo songs and one new one onto a cassette, all nice and ready to be sent off. The bio will be done soon, along with a picture or two. After the next StarBucs on Feb. 5th, I'll have a video, too. What am I preparing for? Tulsa FanFest 2003. I am going through with this and actually sending out an audition package. It's about time I stopped waiting for stuff to happen, I need to get a move on. :) Like I said, the next StarBucs will be Feb.5th, so I'm excited. This time I'm going to do 2 originals and one cover. StarBucs part 3 [05 Dec 2002|07:56pm] [ mood | cold ] [ music | "Tomorrow"//Silverchair ] Well, last night I performed in the 2nd StarBucs at my school this school year, but the 1st for me. I missed the 1st one because I was sick. I was so excited to play again, I really loved playing last year. A few hard-core punkish bands played, which killed my eardrums. Chris's new band After the Fall played, and they ROCKED! Ok, maybe I'm biased but they were really good. They did "Aerials" by System Of A Down and I like freaked. I LOVE THAT SONG! They really did an AMAZING job! We all made signs for them, it was so funny. I got really nervous when it was almost my turn. My friends had made signs for me, too. It was cute. I did "Strong Enough To Break"(Hanson), "Goodbye To You"(Michelle Branch) and my own song "Shadow". I really belted out GTY because I really love that song. My friend Steve told me today that when I hit that one note in the bridge,("I want you, but I'm not giving in this time...") he almost cried. Wow. I was really happy with how it went, except I messed up SETB a bit, but it was all good. It was awesome :) ( PICS!!! ) 5 lovers|break my heart

I'm also planning on playing it at my birthday party on Friday. Wow, my birthday is coming. It seems like only yesterday I had that big ol' bash for my sweet 16, now I'm going to be 17. I really was hoping I would be further along in my career by this time, but you never know. I do have something going on, but it's not definate yet ;-) Just wish me luck. she'll fly... [03 Nov 2002|08:15pm] [ mood | energetic ] [ music | "She'll Fly"//Jessica Harp ] I'm thinking of seriously putting together an audition kit for the Tulsa FanFest 2003. I was hopping around on the Jessica Harp Message Board and learned that my good friend from the UK is planning on auditioning...so I figured, why the hell not me too? I have most of the requirements: at least 3 orginal songs on a tape/CD, a bio sheet and contact info. All I need is a good promo picture or two and a video of myself performing. I can get all that done in one shake of a lamb's tail :-P I mean, there's always a chance that I'll make it, right? Even if I don't, I still plan on attending it anyway. Other than that, not much else going on. I have yet to design a layout for the new demo, so I'm slacking in that department :-/ I'm not too sure how this one will sell. I'm going to really push it because it's 7 of my own songs that I am very proud of. If any of ya'll would by chance be interested in this one(at a slightly larger price, but not that much), comment and let me know. I did "Something To Believe In", "The Next Day", "The Best Thing(That Never Happened To Me)", and "Let Me Go". I even played drums on Chrissy and Nicole's verson of "I Got You Babe", heh. birds are flowing.....? [12 Oct 2002|12:39pm] [ mood | content ] [ music | "Criminal"// Fiona Apple ] Here's what's been going on lately: - I was supposed to play the "StarBucs" Coffeehouse last Wednesday, the 9th at my school. Of course, I was too sick to even go to school so I couldn't go. The next one will be December 4th, the week of my birthday, woo! - Recording on the 26th of this month, which is exciting. Hopefully I'll get to record more songs to combine with the ones on the demo and make an indie cd. Right now, my demo "Insomnia" is still on sale at my site ( http://www.so-unwanted.org/ravenanne ) but the price is upped just by a tad. I didn't realize each shipping would cost like $2 :-/ - Lauren let me know if you got the CD yet, I want to make sure the mail system didn't screw me over lol Jay I got your money today, I'll send the CD like, Monday. I'm still recovering from whatever virus is attacking my poor teenage body. The doctor said it will last like a few more days...wonderful *sto* <3 break my heart

my productive day [14 Sep 2002|09:28pm] [ mood | energetic ] [ music | "Do You Want To Play"//Jewel ] Long story short.....the ubercool guy who worked with us at the studio only charged us for 3 hours and gave us a discount on the CD with our music on it. Chrissy and Fannie took about 2 hours to finish and I took about an hour and a half. It was such an amazing experience...it just blew me away. Actually recording in a studio...wow. We should have the CD soon, and I'm gonna burn copies for sell/give out. I feel bad, but if a lot of people want a copy, I'll have to charge a small fee because I'm burning them myself. LIke I said, it'll be a small amount...like $2 or something. ( onto the pictures ) 6 lovers|break my heart
