the arcade fire were on conan o'brien two nights ago. good lord, they are so amazing to watch. they put on a kick ass performance of laika, and i was especially pleased to see owen pallet, my new obsession, performing with them per usual. it really makes me sad that their california shows are over. i don't want to have to go to coachella to see them. *sigh*

so livejournal has been bought out by six apart. part of me is definitely apprehensive, but it seems like the people involved are pretty trustworthy. i liked the perspective that six apart offered on the weblogging industry in the FAQ they put out. i've long been a fan of movable type, but i never made the switch because i really didn't want to give up the LJ community. in the past i've toyed with, and lately i've thought more about, switching to a "real" weblog, but i have such a hard time feeling like i'm in a position to offer anything worthwhile. however, i feel really detached from the LJ community and what it's about right now, so i'm sort of stuck in between really.
it's funny, i really don't think this acquisition changes much at all, but apparently it's some sort of catalyst for the thoughts that i've had bouncing around for a while now regarding my personal contribution to the incestuous deluge that is the weblogging world.

i need to find a new lunch spot. about half the time, i go to togo's and read, but it seems i'm always running into coworkers there now. i had to sit with one coworker and my boss for lunch today, instead of reading like i wanted to do.

i seriously think i need to move to LA just so going to shows every night of the week is so much easier. i could go to see the arcade fire tonight, but there is a "very limited number" of tickets available at the door, and i'm going to see muse at the wiltern tomorrow night. on the other hand, their debut album is incredible, i've heard they're amazing live, and their january show at the troubadour is already sold out. i really doubt i'm going to bother with it, in all honesty. i just need to bitch about not going to get it out of my system. i think instead i'll stay at home, wear all black, don my viking helmet, mutliate small woodland creatures, and explore my newfound fascination with black metal.
today's movie recommendation: rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead. my high school english teacher recommended this movie to me years ago, and i saw it was coming up on sundance so i checked it out. very, very cool movie. the dialogue is just so entertaining, maybe even on par with lewis carroll, and tim roth and gary oldman kick ass. chatoyn, you'd really like this, but my sixth sense is telling me you've seen it.
